Yamaha MT-15 Beats KTM 125 Duke (Sales Report): Yamaha MT-15 successfully took over the premium lightweight streetfighter segment by beating the popular KTM 125 Duke in India. The Yamaha motorcycle was good for 5203 units in March 2019 while KTM was good for just 3069 units during the same period.
The difference in sales number is huge at present while a high number of bookings for the MT-15 could have been one of the reasons for its success in the initial days. The motorcycle is priced at INR 1.36 lakh, offering buyers a lot more power than the KTM rival. However, the strongest point for KTM here is the availability of USD forks and wide tires when compared to the MT-15.
The difference in ex-showroom price between both the bikes is INR 11,000 and thus, this may not be a solid reason for buyers to consider once they have planned to spend around INR 1.50 lakh (on-road) on their new motorcycle. KTM and Yamaha went through cost-cutting for their motorcycles as they introduced single-channel ABS for both the models in India.
