2020 Bajaj Chetak Launched in India @ INR 1 Lakh

Bajaj has finally launched the most anticipated 2020 Bajaj Chetak in India at a price tag of INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). The first-ever electric product from the brand will be first available to the customer base in Pune followed by Bangalore. Resurrected with an electric power train and a neo-retro design language, the Bajaj Chetak will be sold via the KTM dealerships in Pune and Bangalore. The bookings for the scooter have been commenced at the select KTM dealerships at a token amount of INR 2000.

Powering the electric scooter is a 3kWh IP67-rated Li-ion battery mated to a 4kW BLDC motor that is capable of generating maximum power of 5.47HP and a peak torque of 16Nm. The brand is further offering its debutant electric scooter with a 3 years/50,000 km warranty as well as three free services. The battery equipped on the e-scooter can be fully charged with a 5-ampere power socket in just 5 hours while the customers can also avail the home socket at a discounted price tag from the select dealerships.

In addition to the Urbane (base) model, the Bajaj Chetak Electric is also available in a premium model that is priced at INR 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison to the base model, which is equipped with a drum brake at the front, the premium model has been equipped with a front disc brake.

The Bajaj Chetak scooter is available in 6 colours namely Cyberwhite, Hazelnut, Brooklyn Black, Citrus Rush, Velutto Rosso, and Indigo Metallic. Out of these six shades, the first three are available in the base model while the last three are exclusive for the premium model.

Coming to the neo-retro designing, the brand has equipped the 2020 Bajaj Chetak with LED headlight that has been further mated to LED DRLs. In addition to this, the e-scooter features a feather touch-buttons activated all-digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity.

The rider can further connect his smartphone with the scooter via a dedicated Bajaj Chetak application that offers apt riding statistics like real-time vehicle tracking, geo-fencing, threat protection and more. The first-ever electric scooter from the brand has been equipped with tubeless tyres shod with 12-inch alloy wheels and gets a dampened seat closing mechanism.

The 2020 Bajaj Chetal can be operated in two riding modes namely Eco and Sport. The company-claimed range of the scooter in Eco Mode stands at 95km while the Sport mode offers a claimed range of 85km. The scooter has been further equipped with a regenerative braking system to ensure safer riding.

The braking power is offered by a disc brake at front with a drum brake at the rear end, which is further mated to a Combined Braking System (CBS). The suspension duties are handled by single-arm suspension at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear. The scooter has been equipped with a dedicated Reverse Mode for getting out of the parking spots comfortably in addition to getting a keyless ignition for ease of use.
