Considering the overall reduced demand and the negligible sales, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has officially discontinued three products in the Indian market which include the Activa-i, Navi as well as the Honda Cliq. All the three products from the brand will not be updated with the more stringent BS6 emission norms that will be mandatory in the Indian market from April 1, 2020.
Since updating the engine according to the BS6 emission norms requires the addition of a fuel injection technology in addition to many more bits and pieces, the brand has officially decided to cut off the production of its unsuccessful products. In addition to this, HMSI has recently launched the much-awaited Honda Activa 125 as well as the Activa 6G with a BS6-compliant engine which now offers increased fuel efficiency by almost 10%.
Despite having affordable price tags as compared to the other products in the scooter segment in the Indian market, all three products were not able to impress the larger audience base due to their unconventional styling and not so powerful performance.
Though the lesser famous Honda Cliq and Honda Navi were already expected to be sacked by the brand in the coming months, it remains to be seen why the more affordable as well as the lightweight version of the best-selling product in the Indian market, the Honda Activa-i was not able to hold a place in the Indian scooter segment.
Even after discontinuing the sale of Honda Navi in the Indian market, the brand will continue to export the same in the Latin American markets where the product is quite popular among the audience and has been considered as one of the best-selling scooters in the New Guatemala area.
