Aprilia SXR Series Officially Revealed in India

The Aprilia SXR, an all-new scooter series from Piaggio, has been recently unveiled at the ongoing Auto Expo 2020. The all-new scooter range from the brand will be available in two versions: 160cc and 125cc. The scooters will be launched in the Indian market in September while the bookings will commence in August 2020.

The brand will facilitate the manufacturing of the recently unveiled SXR160 and its younger sibling SXR125 at its Baramati plant in Maharashtra. Coming to the designing traits, both the iterations of the new scooter series have been imparted with a modern Crossmax Design language with a motorcycle-inspired front fascia.

The scooters have been equipped with a large tinted windscreen at the front with twin-pod LED headlight units positioned just below it. In addition to this, the rear profile features a unique LED tail-light setup.

The handlebar on the Aprilia SXR features a fully-digital instrument cluster which further gets an additional mileage indicator. The overall chrome detailing on the exhaust system further offers the SXR series a sporty look. The scooters have been equipped with larger under-seat storage, a glovebox at the front as well as a USB charger for charging the smartphone on the go.

Powering the Aprilia SXR series will be a BS6-compliant 125cc/160cc, single-cylinder, 3-valve fuel-injected engine though the power and torque values, as well as the fuel efficiency of the scooter, have not been revealed by the brand as of yet.

The suspension duties on the all-new Aprilia scooters are handled by telescopic forks at the front while the rear has been mated to a single-sided spring. The Aprilia SXR features a disc brake setup at the front and a drum brake unit at the rear. The 160cc version of the scooter has been equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) while the 125cc variant features a Combined Braking System (CBS).

The customers will be available to get their hands on the all-new Aprilia SXR in Red, Blue, White and Black colour schemes while can also avail the mobile docking system as well as other merchandise as additional accessories. The 125cc version of the scooter will compete in the market with the likes of Suzuki Burgman Street while there aren’t any direct competitors to the 160cc Aprilia SXR as of yet.
