Ather Energy, the Bangalore-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer has officially discontinued the Ather 340 electric scooter from its portfolio. The brand has announced the decision on its social media channels while has delisted the scooter from its official website.
The dismissal of the Ather 340 has been decided on the fact that the brand’s flagship scooter Ather 450 has more demand in the market when compared to the former. Though being priced higher than the Ather 340, the Ather 450 flagship scooter has witnessed 99% of the total number of scooters sold by the brand in the past months. The Ather 450 can be availed by the customers at a price tag of INR 1.13 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Posting on social media, Ather Energy officials stated: “99% of our customers prefer the Ather 450 with higher specification. So we are saying goodbye to the Ather 340. We are glad that people prefer superior experience and now we can focus all our energies on the Ather 450 and our future products.”
Though Ather 340 was one of the affordable offerings from the brand, it did lag certain interesting features offered to its older sibling Ather 450. Since only 1% of the total sales has been witnessed by Ather 340, still, the brand has promised to provide future support as well as other updates to its respective customers.
Certain reports also suggest that the brand will be offering an all-new entry-level variant in its electric scooters portfolio though no official confirmation has been made as of yet. In addition to discontinuing the Ather 340, the brand has also updated the Ather 450 with ECO Mode that has increased its range by 75km.
The addition of 10km of the range will further offer the urban customers something more to look out for. Other OTA updates made to the Ather 450 that has been made recently includes the addition of a second trip meter in addition to colour TFT dashboard as well as “guide me home” headlamps.
