Bajaj Chetak Bookings Suspended in India; Deliveries Delayed

Bajaj Chetak Bookings Suspended: As per a recent report from NDTV, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic situation, the bookings for the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter have been temporarily halted while the deliveries have also been delayed.

The report further suggests that the customers who booked the scooter before February 29, would be getting the delivery between August and September 2020, while those who booked the new Bajaj Chetak after February 2020, they will get the delivery after September this year.

According to the brand, due to the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, their Chakan manufacturing plant cannot operate at full capacity, the reason they can’t resume the production of the Chetak anytime soon.

To jog your memory, the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter was launched in India back on January 14 this year. It is available in two variants namely Urbane and Premium, priced at INR 1 lakh and INR 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. The base Urbane variant of the scooter is available to the customers in Citrus Rush and Cyber White colour schemes while the Premium top-spec variant is available in Velluto Rosso, Indigo Metallic, Hazelnut, and Brooklyn Black colours.

The brand has equipped the Urbane variant with a drum brake setup at the front while the Premium variant has been equipped with a disc brake setup. In addition to this, the Premium variant of the scooter features coloured Slate grey or Satin black alloy wheels setup while the Urbane variant has been equipped with matte black alloy wheels.

Powering the Bajaj Chetak is a 3kWh IP67-rated Li-ion battery mated to a 4kW BLDC motor that is capable of generating maximum power of 5.47HP and a peak torque of 16Nm. In addition to offering a complimentary charger for the e-scooter, Bajaj is offering the customers a 3-year/50,000 km warranty with the same. The battery requires a total of 5 hours for a full charge while can be charged up to 25% in just 1 hour.
