Honda Activa 6G India Launch Details Revealed: Honda 2-Wheelers India has listed an upcoming event on its official website and the teaser banner says: “What’s 2020 without a 6? Wishing you a game-changing new year. The game begins on 15th January 2020”. Though the brand has not mentioned the product name, the emphasis on the number 6 clearly indicates that Honda is going to launch the much-awaited Activa 6G scooter in the Indian market on January 15, 2020.
Here is what Honda has revealed about the upcoming event on its official website: “Witness Akshay Kumar and Cricket Legends play the Game of Sixes in Mumbai. The Game of Sixes will be a 6-over cricket match which will follow some cricket rules but some will be tweaked to make it more interesting and fun. Two teams will outperform each other on Wednesday, 15th January 2020 from 4 PM onwards at Dome Entertainment, National Sports Club Of India (NSCI) Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Stadium, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Worli, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400018.”
Since the new BS6 emission norms will commence in the country from April 1 this year, major auto manufacturers will be launching their BS6-compliant products before that. Coming to the Honda Activa 6G, the scooter is said to be equipped with fuel injection technology to bring 10% improvement in the overall mileage. Activa has successfully kept the scooter segment racing ahead of other commuters with its class-leading reliability and cost-effective riding nature.
The 110cc engine with HET will get the fuel system upgrade to pass the upcoming strict BS6 emission norms. Honda Activa registers almost 3-million sales figure for the brand in one fiscal. The price point of the scooter, along with optional accessories, help them get the most out of the commuter-friendly segment. The launch of Activa 6G with fuel injection will raise the initial cost of ownership and it is yet to be seen how well the model performs after getting an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 60,000 for the 110cc model.
The Honda Activa 6G is expected to get smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth, and it will feature turn-by-turn navigation support. The 6G model is also expected to get call alert feature inspired by the TVS NTorq 125. Coming to the other changes, the next-gen Honda Activa will feature an external fuel filler, which would be a first for a Honda Scooter in India.
