Honda To Launch New 125cc Scooter and 2 New Bikes in India
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is currently India’s second-largest 2W manufacturer. According to reports, the brand has plans to launch three new products in the Indian market in order to close the domestic gap with Hero. We speculate these three products to be in the 125cc, 160cc, and 300cc to 350cc segments.
Honda does not have a trendy name to rely on in the 150cc to 200cc bike segment. Bajaj has the growing Pulsar brand, TVS has the Apache brand, and Yamaha has the FZ brand. These brands have massive cult followings that Honda’s Unicorn and Hornet have yet to achieve.
Honda’s scooters face no actual competition with heavy lifters like the Activa brand in its arsenal. To continue its winning streak, Honda appears to be launching a 125cc scooter. We hope it is a maxi-styled scooter, as that is the one segment Honda has yet to enter.
Honda recently launched the CB300F and based on previous Honda launches, we can expect a CB300X ADV based on it. This would compete with the BMW G 310 GS, KTM 390 Adventure, and such. Honda has also registered the name Brigade, which is thought to be a special edition of the CB350.
We expect Honda to launch at least three products in the coming months to push sales even further. Honda scooters are fantastic for sales charts, but motorcycles are not compelling to price strategies when compared to competitors. Honda can definitely compete with Hero in terms of overall sales with better pricing.
