With all the biggies entering the EV scooter segment, Yamaha has also initiated its journey with this showcasing of its upcoming two electric scooters, called the E01 and NEO. The Yamaha E01 is most likely to hit the Indian market as it is identical to a 125cc scooter. To strengthen the point, Yamaha already has Fascino and RayZR scooters in the country, and the same hype can be built for the new EV scooter as well. In addition, the brand has also patented the trademark for E01.
To jog your memory, the E01 was exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2019. The scooter has a maxi-style appearance and flaunts a sporty profile with a notable front facade, a comfy single-piece seat, dual headlights, and a compact windscreen. As for the paint scheme, it is anticipated to be offered in single-tone and dual-tone shades.
Speaking of the other prominent features, they may include a fully digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, and keyless ignition. In the European market, the e-scooter is expected to be equipped with an 11kW motor.
Yamaha Neo’s electric scooter, which was displayed at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, made its way to the European markets recently. The manufacturer has fitted the scooter with a 50.4V, 19.2Ah lithium-ion battery pack that weighs 8 kg. It generates 3.4 PS and 136 Nm of torque in standard mode. The engine is equivalent to that of a 50cc scooter.
It should be noted that Neos are already available in select areas as a 50cc petrol-powered scooter. It is uncertain whether Neo’s electric scooter will be released in India since the country’s charging and battery swapping infrastructure is still inadequate.
