In the Indian two-wheeler market, scooters also have a prominent place. These are one of the most popular vehicles for commuting among Indian buyers. However, with the introduction of the Yamaha Aerox 155 scooter in the country, the brand introduced the new idea that scooters can be used for more than just daily commuting. The Aerox 155 boasts a sporty silhouette and performance, which makes it an enticing choice for ardent riders.
To get the most out of this scooter, a Bengaluru-based custom house dubbed Dismo Tech has come up with an upgrade kit worth Rs 98,000. In place of the standard fork and twin shock absorbers, the Aerox 155 with this kit receives a USD fork up front and a mono-shock at the back. The rear additionally includes the option of a twin shock absorber; both alternatives are bolt-on and are easily installable on the scooter.
The dual disc brakes upfront and the single disc brake at the rear take it a step further. Another intriguing innovation is the radial master cylinder brake levers, which allow for greater accuracy while braking. The rear disc is also bolt-on and does not require any cutting or welding. In terms of stylistic changes, the redesigned undertail has a sleek and athletic appearance, and a carbon fibre tyre hugger completes the scooter’s performance-oriented appearance.
In terms of power, the Aerox gets a BS-VI compliant,155cc, VVA-equipped engine that is similar to the R15 and it is good for 15.0 HP @ 8,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The overall body dimensions of the scooter are 700mm in width, 1980mm in length, and 1150mm in height with a wheelbase of 1350mm. The Aerox features an underbone design with a noticeable spine section, unlike some of its competitors, such as the Aprilia SXR 160, which has a step-through design with a flat floorboard.
