Bajaj Auto recently revealed the all-new Chetak electric scooter at an event in New Delhi. The 2020 model of the Chetak will go on sale early next year while the price tag will be officially announced at a launch event in Pune in the 1st week of January 2020. The new Bajaj Chetak will be launched in Pune and Bengaluru in the first phase, and as per a recent report by ACI, the e-scooter will be initially sold through KTM dealerships.
According to the brand, the new Chetak is a premium product and the KTM showrooms will offer a better experience to the customers in comparison to what the Bajaj showrooms can currently offer. The report also suggests that Bajaj Auto is planning to upgrade the existing showrooms to make them more suitable to justify the premium placement of the new Chetak scooter. The price of the electric scooter is expected to be around INR 1.25 lakh (on-road).
The new Bajaj Chetak is expected to feature an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery while the brand has equipped it with a 4kW electric motor. There is no confirmation whether the battery pack will be removable though, considering the officially revealed images, the chances remain to be thin.
The all-electric scooter by Bajaj features a front disc brake and a rear drum brake in addition to MRF Zapper-K tubeless tyres on either side. The all-digital instrument console can be further connected to the rider’s smartphone and it can offer real-time riding dynamics in addition to offering the utmost security.
When this electric scooter will enter the market, it is expected to achieve a premium position and will rival the likes of Okinawa scooters, Hero Electric, Ather Energy, Ampere Electric Vehicles, Kymko22 scooters, and a host of other new and upcoming electric scooters. The new model of the Chetak will be available in six colours namely silver, red, blue, black, classic ivory, and gold.
