OLA Becomes The Top-Selling Electric Scooter; Beats Ather & Hero Electric

Ola Electric started its journey at the end of 2021, and within such a short span of time, it managed to rank first in the electric scooter sales charts. The brand has defeated Hero Electric with the registration of 12,689 Ola scooters in the previous month.

As per the VAHAN portal, Hero Electric registered only 6,571 units of its electric scooters within the given time period, and it was followed by Ather with 2,445 units registered.

Ola founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal shared the screenshots in a Tweet and wrote, “… Customers and markets have voted for facts and truth. We’re just getting started.” As Ola Electric remains embroiled in controversy as a result of the ongoing government investigation into the March 28 incident in which an EV caught fire, Aggarwal warned his rivals to “focus on their products” rather than circulate “fake narratives” about the electronic vehicle manufacturing company.

It should be emphasised that Ola does not have any showrooms and instead operates on a direct-to-home basis, delivering registered scooters to consumers’ doorsteps. While Ola has been tight-lipped about the number of orders it has received, the number of registrations has been increasing over the previous five months.

On the other hand, Hero Electric must be concerned about more than simply a drop in sales. It recently announced that owing to a severe chip shortage, it was unable to ship even a single unit in April. According to the firm, replacement sources have been prepared and manufacturing will begin soon.
