OLA Disappoints Customers Again; Damaged Scooters Delivered

Electric scooter maker Ola has just started delivering the S1 and S1 Pro scooters on December 15th, 2021, and the customers have already started bringing the scooters’ quality-related and after-sales service issues to the social media platforms.

According to a recent report by Money Control, Ola Electric has run into fresh troubles as multiple owners are complaining about the quality of the electric scooter while some of them are not happy with the kind of service they are getting. Here are the actual tweets by the customers –

One Twitter user, whose handle name is @ToadTweets, tweeted on December 22nd, tagging the CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, that his Ola S1 Pro scooter was facing screeching noise and headlight issues just after a 6km drive. After that, Ola picked up his scooter for repair and delivered it back. But again, the tweeple mentioned that the scooter was back but with a broken number plate and oil stains on it. There was no documentation of the repair and changed parts.

In another incident, a Twitter user named Karthik Varma (@leovarmak) made a tweet on the same day of the Ola S1 Pro delivery that the scooter delivered at the Vishakhapatnam event already had dents and cracks all over its body. Another utter disappointment for him was the reply from the manager that she would get the scooter repaired before delivery to the doorstep.

The buyer even mentioned in the Tweet that he paid for a brand new scooter, not for the refurbished one. In addition to attaching the images of his blue Ola scooter, he also attached an image of a red scooter with a panel gap near the instrument console and highlighted that a lot of owners have received their scooters with a wide gap like this.

According to one of the recent reports by Motorbeam, many other owners claimed that the range was not the one that was promised when they purchased the scooters. According to the brand, Ola scooters will offer 121 km for the S1 and 181 km for the S1 Pro on a single charge, but the scooters are not giving the expected range.

Moreover, another Ola S1 Pro scooter buyer mentioned the issue in the Tweet he is facing related to the insurance policy. A person named Rahul Prasadh (@rahul_prasadh) tweeted that he paid Rs 7,471 for the insurance, but according to the documentation, the premium was paid at Rs 6,695, which demonstrates the unclarity, and he asked the authorities about the difference in the amount paid and showed.

Talking about the price and technical specifications, the Ola electric scooters are offered in 10 stunning colour options and are priced at Rs 99,999 for the S1 and Rs 1,29,999 for the S1 Pro. Both are ex-showroom prices, and it is also noteworthy that the prices are different in states like Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. Prices in these four states are lower, thanks to subsidies on electric vehicles.

Both scooters are equipped with the same 8.5kW electric motor with a 5.5kW power output. However, the battery packs offered on the scooters are diverse. The S1 gets a 2.98kWh battery capacity, while the S1 Pro gets a 3.97kWh battery capacity. Speaking of the range it offers, the S1 has a range of 121 km, while the S1 Pro offers a 180 km range with a single charge.
