Fire incidents on electric scooters are growing with each passing day. These incidents are occurring in even major brands of EVs these days. Another such mishap is reported from Chennai, where a Pure EV EPluto 7G electric scooter went into flames near the Mathur Toll Plaza in Manjampakkam, Chennai. However, this is not the first issue with the Pure electric scooter, and such fire incidents raise serious issues about passenger safety.
As per the viral video of the incident, there was thick smoke coming out of the Red EPluto 7G and it caught on fire in just a few seconds. Just days before this blast, two other biggies, like Ola and Okinawa Autotech’s scooters, faced the same thing, with the Ola S1 Pro incident happening in Pune and the latter in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore.
Now reports are coming that the Defence Research and Development Organization has asked the CFEES laboratory to do a thorough investigation of the incidents that happened with the S1 Pro and Praise Pro EVs. Pure EV has already initiated an investigation on their own regarding the issue and shared a statement, “We have taken cognizance of the incident reported with one of our customer vehicles in Tamil Nadu and preliminary information has been obtained from the concerned client and our dealer.”
Further adding to it, “The accident vehicle has been brought to our concerned dealer service station for further analysis. We are investigating the incident and will do a thorough assessment. We adhere to the highest safety standards through rigorous internal testing as well as special phase change materials being implemented in our battery packs to avoid rapid-fire/blast kind of scenarios.”
