Yamaha Aerox 155 India Launch Expected Around Diwali 2021

The Japanese two-wheeler maker Yamaha is planning to expand its scooter fleet by adding its first maxi-scooter to the Indian market. As per the latest media reports, the Yamaha Aerox is going to hit the market soon as the brand just got type approval for the maxi-style scooter that signals an imminent launch. At present, the scooter is already available in various Southeast Asian markets, including Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

As per the details on the certificate, the Aerox gets a BS-VI compliant 155cc engine that is similar to the R15. In terms of power, it will produce 11kW at 8000 rpm, which is equivalent to 14.75HP. The overall body dimensions of the scooter are 700mm in width, 1980mm in length, and 1150mm in height with a wheelbase of 1350mm. The Aerox features an underbone design with a noticeable spine section, unlike some of its competitors, such as the Aprilia SXR 160, which has a step-through design with a flat floorboard.

In addition, the upcoming scooter has a large 25-litre under-seat storage space. It is expected to come with connectivity features that will be accessible through Yamaha’s mobile app. Some other anticipated features include an LCD instrument cluster, keyless operation, LED illumination, as well as a charging socket. The Aerox rides on 14-inch wheels and is constructed on the same chassis as the Yamaha NMax 155. The company has used a disc at the front and a drum at the back for braking, while the suspension is handled by front telescopic forks and dual rear shocks.

When it comes to the pricing and launch of the forthcoming maxi-scooter, some sources revealed that it could be launched by Diwali 2021. However, it has not been confirmed by Yamaha, but expectations are high. Talking about the price, it is likely to come at about Rs 1,35,000 (ex-showroom), making it one of the most expensive petrol-powered scooters in the country.
