Yamaha Aerox 155 Premium Scooter to Launch in India Tomorrow

The Japanese two-wheeler maker Yamaha is all set to expand its scooter fleet by adding its first maxi-scooter to the Indian market. At present, the scooter is already available in various Southeast Asian markets, including Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The company has now published a teaser indicating that the Aerox 155 will be launched in India alongside the new YZF-R15M tomorrow (September 21, 2021) at 11:00 AM. The event will take place on Yamaha’s digital platform.

In terms of power, the Aerox gets a BS-VI compliant,155cc, VVA-equipped engine that is similar to the R15 and it will produce 11kW at 8000 rpm, which is equivalent to 14.75HP. The overall body dimensions of the scooter are 700mm in width, 1980mm in length, and 1150mm in height with a wheelbase of 1350mm. The Aerox features an underbone design with a noticeable spine section, unlike some of its competitors, such as the Aprilia SXR 160, which has a step-through design with a flat floorboard.

In addition, the upcoming scooter has a large 25-litre under-seat storage space. It is expected to come with connectivity features that will be accessible through Yamaha’s mobile app. Other expected features include an LCD instrument cluster, keyless entry, LED lighting, and a charging port. The Aerox features 14-inch wheels and shares the same frame as the Yamaha NMax 155. The company has used a disc at the front and a drum at the back for braking, while the suspension is handled by a telescopic fork and dual rear shocks.

The forthcoming Aerox will appeal to a portion of buyers who want a scooter with performance, a distinct design, and class-leading features. When it comes to the pricing of the maxi-scooter, the exact amount will be revealed after the launch tomorrow. However, it is expected to come in at about Rs. 1,35,000 (ex-showroom), making it one of the most expensive petrol-powered scooters in the country.
