Samsung Gear S2 & Gear S2 Classic Officially Announced

After announcing ‘Gear S’ smartwatch last year, Samsung has announced a new range of smartwatch under Gear S2 series – Gear S2, Gear S2 3G and Gear S2 classic.

All three watches possess an impressive style that anyone can use it on daily basis. The difference of these Smartwatches lies in design and material used on it. Where Gear S2 3G supports calling feature without any connection to device. The Samsung Gear S2 Classic supports a leather band with polished finish to provide classy look like its name and the ‘Gear S2’ packs a modern design and silicone band.

Talking about the specs of these watches, all these have similar feature list. The Samsung Gear S2, Gear S2 3G and Gear S2 Classic have a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with 360×360 pixels resolution and 302ppi pixel density. These are running on Tizen based wearable platform and under the back panel there is a 1 GHz dual-core processor that is aided to 512MB RAM for processing the multiple operations. All are IP67 certified dust and water resistant devices.

From all three products, only Gear S2 3G has a 2G and 3G calling facility via SIM card. Except this, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC and Bluetooth 4.1 are available on all three watches as connectivity attributes. These are also built with accelerometer, heart rate, ambient light, gyroscope and barometer sensors.

On storage front, it supports an internal memory of 4GB. For the backup, Gear S2 and S2 Classic pack a 250mAh Li-Ion battery under the hood and Gear S2 3G has a 300mAH battery.  In the terms of shades, the Samsung Gear S2 and S2 3G supports two color combos including Silver case / White band and Dark Gray case / Dark Gray band.

While, the Gear S2 Classic has only single Black case / leather band shade. After announcing it officially, Samsung has plans to showcase these smartwatches at the IFA 2015 which is going to be held later this week.
