A recent report from BikeAdvice claims that Suzuki GZ150 is preparing for its Indian debut in the coming weeks. This report is backed by a dealer statement while estimated period for the launch is 60-90 days.
It is said that company engineers have asked them to prepare for this model and even Motul recently examined the GZ150 for India. In fact, if these things prove right, buyers will have an excellent option when looking for lightweight cruiser motorcycle before this festive season.
Suzuki GZ150 is currently on sale in Vietnam and Colombia. It comes with a 150cc, single cylinder fuel injected engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Here, using the engine from Gixxer can even help them keep cost under check.
Suzuki can swap the fuel injection with carburetor and further reduce the initial effective cost of GZ150. As it weighs 137 kg (dry), performance will definitely surprise the first time cruiser riders for sure. Suzuki offers a seat height of 710 mm for GZ150.
Sharing parts would not be a problem as it comes with conventional front forks and single front disc brake for the front section. However, using twin shocks and a different set of fuel tank, seats, exhaust and alloy wheels will need some time for localization.
Suzuki GZ150 costs 41,99,000 Peso (INR 89,000 approx) in Columbia. That makes it lower than Suzuki Gixxer at 43,99,000 Peso (INR 93,000). Both the bikes use fuel injection in Columbia and hence, Suzuki could place the same at around INR 85,000 in India for the carburetter model.
