Honda CB125R vs KTM Duke 125: The launch of KTM Duke 125 along with the Honda CB300R has an indirect connection for the Indian street bike fans. The former is the most affordable premium motorcycle of its genre while the latter is based on the same Neo-Sports Cafe concept as CB125R.

This means that the chances of Honda considering CB125R for the Indian market are all-time high next year. The 125cc engine, an under-belly exhaust system, and the sharp tank panels are the only three differences between the CB300R and the CB125R.

KTM Duke 125 comes with USD forks, wide tyres, and an all-digital console. All three features are also true for the Honda CB125R. The CB125R can help Honda eliminate the need for any other premium motorcycle in the 150cc segment as changing times are pushing more buyers towards the environment-friendly 125cc premium bikes. Here is a quick comparison between the new Honda CB125R and the KTM Duke 125.

Kawasaki Ninja 125 is a license-focused and market-specific sportbike that retails for GBP 4399 (INR 4.06 lakh approx) in the United Kingdom. It is based on the Ninja 250SL and the entry-level sportbike is also available in the international markets in the popular KRT colour scheme. Here are five must-know facts about the 125cc Kawasaki Ninja.

5 Facts About Kawasaki Ninja 125

1) Youngest Ninja Around the Globe – The all-new Kawasaki Ninja 125 holds a significant place among other entry-level sportbikes as it is the youngest one from the legendary Ninja clan. The same motor is also available under Z125 moniker with no fairing at all. The 125cc Ninja competes in the international markets with the likes of Yamaha YZF-R125, KTM RC 125, Aprilia RS 125, Suzuki GSX-R125, and the Honda CBR125R.

2) Quarter-Litre Sportbike Design – The design lines on the Ninja 125 are strictly inspired by Ninja 250SL, offering buyers in the UK and Europe with the same design that is globally available in the quarter-litre segment. The sharp single headlight and attractive fairing mean that you are always ahead of the rivals with an aerodynamic advantage.

3) Premium Components – The Kawasaki Ninja 125 features an all-digital instrument console, fuel injection, liquid cooling, dual overhead camshafts, 290mm front disc, 220mm rear disc, standard 2-channel ABS, 37mm telescopic front forks and a gas-charged rear monoshock. All these features help the Ninja 125 deliver the best-ever riding experience in the 125cc sportbike segment.

4) Engine and Performance – The 125cc single-cylinder engine is capable enough to generate a maximum power figure of 15HP at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 11.7 Nm at 7700 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The power output is higher than most of the entry-level 150cc bikes available in the Indian market.

5) India Launch Plans – As of now, Kawasaki has no plans to launch the Ninja 125 in India though, the brand may consider it for our market in the future. As RC 125 has worked wonders for KTM, similarly, Kawasaki may also start manufacturing the Ninja 125 in India and launch it with a price tag of around INR 1.50-1.60 lakh (ex-showroom), plus they can also export the same to the nearby countries.

A commercial release has marked the shout-out of the 2020 Yamaha MT-125 in the European market. This naked street bike is heavily inspired by the MT-15 that is being retailed in India. Prior to the start of the Tokyo Motor Show that is scheduled for October 24, 2019, the Japanese bike maker has unboxed two small-displacement models. One of them is the 2020 model of the MT-03 that was unveiled at the beginning of October and now the brand has brought the MT-125.

The new-gen model of the Yamaha MT-125 features an identical headlight similar to that of the India-spec MT-15, which actually supports the more aggressively sculpted front end that features a dual-LED DRLs setup, plus an LED headlight beneath it. The 2020 Yamaha MT-125 has received an updated 125cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine, which is now equipped with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) – a change that has been given to the bike due to the Euro 5 emission standards.

As of now, no details have been provided about the pricing of the bike for the European market. With the introduction of the 2020 Yamaha MT-125, the brand is trying to reach out to the young riders and the city commuters who look forward to a bike which is sporty yet economical.

There has been no confirmation about the bike being brought to India anytime soon though, we can expect Yamaha to launch the new MT-125 in India to compete with the likes of KTM 125 Duke.

Like the India-spec R15 V3 and the MT-15, the MT-125 won’t be getting the premium USD front forks. If launched in India, the 2020 Yamaha MT-125 is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.10-1.20 lakh.

Yamaha is all set to unveil the updated version of the MT-125 in the coming days. The next-gen model of the Yamaha MT-125 has been officially teased by the brand on its social media channels. Scheduled to make its presence known on October 16, the upcoming Yamaha motorcycle features a cat-eye signature headlight setup though the brand has not officially revealed its identity as of yet. Since the Yamaha MT-125 is already available in the European markets since long, one can expect the brand to unveil the motorcycle with a host of new updates that will set it apart from its current-gen variant.

In addition to this, the upcoming 2020 variant of the MT-125 will get the same underpinnings as that of the MT-15 available in the Indian market though, the engine will be borrowed from the Yamaha YZF-R125 sportbike.

The 2020 Yamaha MT-125 will feature a 125cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 15HP and a peak torque of 12.4 Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission. The suspension duties on the motorcycle will be handled by USD telescopic forks at the front while the rear will feature an adjustable monoshock unit.

The motorcycle will feature disc brakes at either end while being mated to dual-channel ABS as standard. In addition to these, the upcoming MT-125 will get a full LED light setup upfront with a fully digital instrument panel and lightweight frame to offer mighty performance.

Since the updated Yamaha MT-125 is expected to be launched in Europe primarily, the brand may launch the motorcycle in India in the coming months though, the chances remain thin. If and when launched in India, the motorcycle is expected to compete in the market with the likes of KTM Duke 125.

Yamaha YZF-R125 is a stunning supersport machine with class-leading parts and impressive output for a motorcycle of its class. It is based on the familiar R15 Version 3 in terms of the design and the first look at the entry-level sportbike can make anyone go crazy. Everyone’s mind is filled with questions regarding the newcomer and these five points can clear any doubt that comes to mind for the Yamaha YZF-R125.

Yamaha YZF-R125 Facts

1) Design Similarity The familiar design was first seen on the Indonesia-spec R15 V3 and then came to India with a slight modification to the front suspension setup. The 2020 model of the R125 is based on the Indonesia-spec R15 V3, carrying the same USD forks and a unique set of rear foot-peg holders that are absent in the India-spec model of the R15 V3. The new YZF-R125 looks smarter than most of the 125cc fully-faired sportbikes available in the international market like the KTM RC 125, Honda CBR125R, and the Aprilia RS 125.

2) Engine Output – The 124.7cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine on the motorcycle is good for 15HP of maximum power at 9000 rpm and 12.4Nm of peak torque at 8000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The values are quite healthy as the India-spec Yamaha FZS V3 is good for just 13.2 HP of power output. Even the torque also varies by just 0.4 Nm. The engine of the YZF-R125 also uses VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) for better power delivery further improving the ride quality.

3) Instrument Console – The all-digital instrument console on the new model of the Yamaha YZF-R125 is inspired by the console seen on the 2020 Yamaha R3. The colours are inverted for a sporty feel, further highlighting the high rpm range in red and various values like gear position, clock, and fuel level.

4) Available Shades – The new Yamaha R125 is available in the European markets in three eye-catching shades namely Icon Blue, Tech Black, and Competition White. The blue seen here is different from the one available in the Indian market on the R15 V3.

5) India Launch Details – As of now, Yamaha has no plans to launch the new R125 in India though the brand may consider the entry-level sportbike for the Indian market at a later stage as KTM has received an overwhelming response for the RC 125 in the country. If Yamaha launches the R125 in India, it will get conventional front forks like the R15 V3 and is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.20 lakh.
