Hero to Launch BS6 Compliant 2-Wheelers Before Proposed Timeline

Hero MotoCorp is ready to tackle the BS6 April 2020 deadline well in advance as this could help them keep things under check and may not result in a pileup of vehicles in the last days of the deadline. They will launch BS6 bikes in India way ahead of the April 1, 2020 deadline and the brand is planning to become the 1st motorcycle manufacturer in India to do so. The two additions at that time would be fuel injection and on-board diagnostic option for the vehicle. Hero started well at the time of BS4 and converted most of the products that were selling in good number on time. However, dealers with huge stocks had to offer discounts in order to clear up the stock that would have been called illegal from the next day. The most recent entry into the lineup are 2018 models of Hero Glamour, Splendor, and Passion series. All of them carry minor changes in terms of the overall design and features. Hero MotoCorp is presently the highest selling two wheeler brand in India. The volume generators on the list include Splendor, HF Deluxe and Passion while scooters like Maestro Edge and Duet also sells in considerable numbers. For BS6 bikes (Bharat Stage VI), the manufacturers have to include fuel injection in all the bikes/scooters and it will certainly raise the cost by a considerable margin. That could propel the price of an ordinary 100cc bike to INR 55-60k in the mid of 2020. With nearly 2 years in hand, manufacturers have enough time to plan the future.
