According to a recent report from IAB, the BS6 Kawasaki Ninja 300 launch has been delayed by two months. Earlier, the updated model of the sports bike was expected to launch in India by October this year. But due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the BS6-compliant model of Ninja 300 is now expected to launch in December 2020.

The brand has officially discontinued the BS4-compliant variant of its entry-level motorcycle in India while its BS6-compliant version has been recently spotted testing near the ARAI facility in Pune further confirming the speculations of an updated engine.

The entry-level Ninja 300 is one of the most cherished motorcycles in the Indian market which had a good run with the customers due to its splendid performance as well as an affordable price tag when compared to the Ninja 400 which has already replaced the smaller displacement Ninja 300 in certain international markets.

In terms of pricing, one can safely expect the BS6 Kawasaki Ninja 300 to get a premium of INR 10,000-INR 15,000 over the BS4-compliant variant which was available in the market at an ex-showroom price tag of INR 2.98 lakhs.

The BS4 model of Ninja 300 was powered by a 296cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine that was capable of offering maximum power of 39HP and a peak torque of 27Nm. The engine was mated to a 6-speed transmission.

Though there has been no confirmation on the performance figures for the BS6-compliant variant of the motorcycle, one can certainly expect a minimal reduction in the power and torque values since the engine will now comply to stricter BS6 emission norms.

As Ninja 300 is equipped with an older engine, it is yet to be seen how the brand will tune it according to the new emission standards without compromising the performance.

According to recent reports, Piaggio is working on new 250cc-300cc Aprilia sports bikes for the Indian market. The Italian brand previously planned on experimenting with the 150cc motorcycle segment though the increasing market share and the trend for the quarter-litre motorcycles have made them change paths. The brand showcased the Aprilia RS 150 and the Tuono 150 at the 2018 Auto Expo though the motorcycles never made it to the showrooms. The brand now plans on launching higher-displacement sports bikes in India.

Commenting on the plans to launch higher-displacement motorcycles, Diego Graffi, MD Piaggio stated – “Definitely, we are looking with a lot of interest at the motorcycle segment in India. It is natural, having a brand like Aprilia, which is well known across the world for winning in racing competitions. We are now looking more at this range (250cc-300cc). We need some time to introduce the products, but it is in our plans.”

With overall sales near 7,73,855 units in the 2019 fiscal year, the 250cc-350cc motorcycle segment has been doing good for the brands where Royal Enfield certainly takes over 99% of the market share with 7,64,012 units sold in the same period. Piaggio has stated its plans on launching new Aprilia products in the same segment, though the production might take some time.

In addition to this, Piaggio is all set to launch the India-specific Aprilia SXR 160 maxi-scooter in the markets by the end of this year. The brand further aims at reaching 1 lakh sales figure in the current year.

The Vespa and the Aprilia range of scooters have recently been updated by the brand with BS6-compliant engines. In addition to that, the brand has also launched the Aprilia SR 160 that replaces the SR 150 in the Indian markets. The bookings for the updated scooter portfolio from the brand has begun at the selected dealerships.

The India-bound 2020 Yamaha MT-03 was officially unveiled by the brand back in October 2019. The updated version of the motorcycle has been equipped with new styling features in addition to the new suspension setup. Yamaha’s hyper naked motorcycle especially focuses on combining the lightweight versatility with aggressive looks and thrilling performance.

Coming to the most obvious changes, the updated motorcycle now features a new headlight setup, borrowed from the India-spec MT-15 though more sleek and aggressive. The 2020 Yamaha MT-03 features sleek LED DRLs mated to a projector headlight.

The muscular profile of the MT-03 is accentuated by a wider tank cover as well as the fighter jet style air scoops. The revised ergonomics of the motorcycle further ensures a super comfortable ride. The MT-03 now features an all-digital LCD instrument console sourced from the 2020 model of the YZF-R3.

Powering the 2020 Yamaha MT-03 is the same 321cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valve, 2-cylinder engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 42 HP at 10,750 rpm and a peak torque of 29.6 Nm at 9000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, the suspension duties on the motorcycle have also been revised. It now features 37mm Upside Down (USD) telescopic forks at the front that replaces the telescopic units seen on the last-gen variant. On the other hand, the rear features an adjustable monoshock suspension.

The braking duties are handled by disc brakes at either end. As per the reports, the 2020 Yamaha MT-03 is expected to be launched in India after the launch of the 2020 YZF-R3, which is expected to go on sale in the Indian market in the coming months. One can expect the brand to price the new model of the MT-03 around INR 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Here is the mega photo gallery of the streetfighter:

300cc Hero Karizma Sports Bike in the Making: As per the recent reports, Hero Karizma will be back and this time, there will be nothing less than 300cc worth displacement for this powerful nameplate. Even though some reports suggest that Hero MotoCorp will prefer a 200cc engine from the XPulse but the brand is expected to take the benchmark up by one level.

As the brand has scrapped its 250cc engine and HX250R project, one can safely assume that 300cc Karizma would be the next big thing for the Indian market. Moreover, the brand has developed a new platform through XF3R and the next-gen Karizma sports bike would be based on the same platform.

With the launch of the 300cc Hero Karizma, the brand will once again get a premium flagship motorcycle under its portfolio. Karizma with a powerful 300cc engine would mean a true threat to the TVS Apache RR 310 and the KTM RC 390.

More than that, those looking for decent performance and reliable branding will also prefer Hero Karizma. India’s highest-selling brand knows how to market things competitively and thus, getting a performance-centric sports bike for around INR 1.60-1.75 lakh will not be a bad option.

The next-gen model of the Karizma is expected to come equipped with electronic fuel injection, liquid cooling, dual-channel ABS, all-digital instrument console and the entire set of features that are available on the bikes of this generation.

Hero bikes are well known for fuel-efficient engines with class-leading mileage figures and less-than-usual maintenance cost. Hero officials have also confirmed that the Karizma nameplate is not dead and it will be back in the coming years. The brand recently removed the Karizma 220 from its official website and before being discontinued, it was available for INR 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom).

According to recent reports, the India-Made Jawa Classic 300 has been revealed in the European markets before its official launch. Sold in India as well as other Asian markets by Mahindra’s Classic Legends, the retro motorcycle will be made available in the Czech Republic, the home European market of the motorcycle later by the end of 2020.

The brand has recently revealed the Jawa Classic 300 that has been developed for the Indian markets in the Czech Republic while the motorcycle features a similar front number plate that is mandatory in the Indian markets only. The motorcycle will be exported to the European cities by the end of this year if all goes according to plan while the Czech Republic will be the first-ever state to receive the cruiser.

The homologation process of the motorcycle to be made available in the European markets has been finally finished by the brand and the Euro-spec cruiser is ready to be exported to the selected cities.

As the motorcycle showcased in the Czech Republic features a front license plate, the European-spec variant might not feature the same as European markets don’t necessarily have it as a mandatory addition. The rest of the cosmetic bits of the India-spec motorcycle will remain the same for sale in the European cities while the brand will be tweaking the internals to comply with the European standards.

Next TVS-BMW Bike Launch Details Revealed: According to recent reports, the fourth offspring of the joint venture between TVS and BMW Motorrad will be launched in the year 2021 while the motorcycle will be based on an existing platform. The partnership between the two brands has resulted in the introduction of three motorcycles in the Indian markets which includes the TVS Apache RR 310, the BMW G310R and the BMW G310GS.

K. N. Radhakrishnan, President, CEO & Additional Whole-Time Director, TVS Motor Company Limited has recently reassured the customers that the next joint product from the partnership of TVS and BMW Motorrad will be launched sometime in 2021 as the motorcycle is currently under development while the progress is fully paced despite the issues faced by the automotive industry due to the coronavirus lockdown.

There has been no other official information revealed on the next TVS-BMW bike though disregarding the earlier reports, the latest news now suggests that the brand will be developing the motorcycle on the similar platform that has been offered to the existing three products under the partnership of both the brands. More information on the upcoming motorcycle is expected to be revealed sometime shortly.

The TVS Apache RR 310 is one of the motorcycles that has been recently updated with a BS6-compliant engine for the Indian markets. It’s one of the highly appreciated sports motorcycles from the brand while the BMW G310R and the G310GS have been doing good for the international markets.

Both the BMW motorcycles will be updated with a BS6-compliant engine in the coming weeks and they will get a lesser price tag when compared to their present-gen avatars. In addition to this, the BMW F900XR and 2020 BMW S1000XR are the two motorcycles that are expected to be launched soon by the German brand in the Indian markets.

Yamaha R3 AMG sports bike by Decal46 from Vietnam is definitely the best custom-made R3 we have ever seen. The motorcycle features white/red body wrap with blue inserts for further highlights. Decal46 has featured the side fairing with AMG, Yamaha, Pirelli, and several other brandings while the front fascia of the bike features a Kawasaki Ninja-inspired air splitter. The exhaust of the stock model has also been replaced with a custom unit with a carbon fibre finish. The customizers have also equipped the sports bike with frame sliders to protect the fairing in case of a crash.

The custom-made R3 AMG doesn’t feature a front and rear number plate holder. The sportbike has been further equipped with two additional lights near the front visor. Unlike the stock model, Decal46 has equipped this typical R3 with smaller-than-usual turn indicators at both front and rear end. Yamaha recently discontinued the YZF-R3 in the Indian market after the implementation of BS6 emission norms. Before being discontinued, the motorcycle was available with dual-channel ABS for INR 3.52 lakh (ex-showroom).

As per the latest details available, the brand will launch the 2020 model of R3 in India by the end of this year. The new model of the sports bike features R15-inspired LED headlights and an all-digital console. The 2020 YZF-R3 is also equipped with Upside Down (USD) front forks. Mechanically, the Yamaha R3 is powered by a 321cc, twin-cylinder engine, producing 42HP of maximum power and 29.6 Nm of torque.
