According to recent reports, the KTM 390 Adventure Premium variant is expected to be introduced by the brand in the coming 6 to 8 months. The motorcycle variant is further expected to get a premium of INR 15,000 – INR 20,000 with the addition of several new premium features with an adjustable front suspension being one of them.

At present, the India-spec variant of KTM 390 Adventure is available in the market with a price tag of INR 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom). One of the most sought-after features expected to be offered to the premium variant of the motorcycle will be the adjustable WP inverted forks at the front and a fully adjustable rear monoshock unit which are currently available in the international-spec variant.

The adjustable front forks allow the rider to set them according to the road conditions. For instance, the rider can set the forks down on a smooth surface to ensure better handling of the motorcycle while the forks can be adjusted up in the bad road conditions to offer maximum stability.

The front forks in both the international-spec and India-spec variant feature the same specifications though the cartridge adjustment varies with the both. In addition to this, the brand is also expected to offer the KTM 390 Adventure Premium variant with a fully-adjustable monoshock unit at the rear which can be set accordingly and will offer both preload and rebound adjustability.

Apart from the updated suspension system, the Premium variant of the motorcycle is expected to feature a host of power parts which includes the likes of headlight guard at the front in addition to handlebar pads, fork sliders as well as a GPS mount. The customers can also expect the brand to offer an all-new India-spec luggage rack with the KTM 390 Adventure Premium variant.

In addition to this, the on-road price tag of the updated motorcycle has also surfaced online.

Apart from the updated KTM Duke 390 with a BS6 engine, the brand will also be launching the BS6 KTM RC 390 in the coming days. Some reports also suggest that the Austrian brand has imparted all the updated 390cc range of motorcycle with a Quickshifter+ as standard.

For the ones not knowing the functionalities of a quickshifter+, it allows the rider to change the gears seamlessly and without much effort. The Quickshifter+ used on the KTM motorcycles is a bi-directional unit that performs the upshifts as well as downshifts seamlessly. It ultimately increases the safety and the comfort of the rider by eliminating the need to use the clutch.

Apart from this, the updated motorcycle has been been awarded new dual-tone colour schemes in addition to new graphics. Powering the 2020 KTM Duke 390 will be a BS6-compliant 373.2cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine.

Though the power and torque values of the updated motorcycle have not yet been revealed as of yet, one can certainly expect the performance figures to be tweaked a bit with the addition of a BS6-compliant engine.

At present, the BS4-compliant KTM Duke 390 is capable of offering maximum power of 43.5HP and a peak torque of 37Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission mated to a slipper clutch. Here is the official price list of the 2020 KTM Duke 390.

According to a recent report by Autocar India, Bajaj Auto is all set to launch the BS6 2020 KTM Duke 390 with a quickshifter as standard that will be similar to one offered on the recently launched 390 Adventure. The BS6 model of the Duke 390 is expected to be launched in parallel to the BS6-compliant KTM RC 390.

The reports also suggest that the BS6-compliant KTM Duke 390 will differ from the BS6 model of the RC 390 through more features offered by the brand. One can further expect the motorcycle to get a premium of around INR 10,000 over its BS4-compliant variant with the addition of the quickshifter as well as the BS6 engine. At present, the BS4 KTM Duke 390 is available in the market at a price tag of INR 2.48 lakhs (ex-showroom).

BS6 2020 KTM Duke 390
BS6 2020 KTM Duke 390 to Get Quickshifter as Standard

On the other hand, the brand is very unlikely to offer the BS6 KTM RC 390 with a quickshifter as standard which will ultimately allow KTM to price it lower than its streetfighter sibling.

Since the increase in price tag for the BS6-compliant Duke 390 will make it stand close to the recently launched KTM 390 Adventure that is priced at INR 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the brand will be justifying the high price tag of the adventure motorcycle to the customers by explaining them the adventure-specific features that includes the traction control system and the switchable 2-channel ABS unit.

Powering the BS4 KTM Duke 390 is a 373.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 43.5 HP @ 9000 rpm and a peak torque of 37 Nm @ 7000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

KTM 390 Adventure has been officially launched in India with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 2.99 lakh. In comparison, the Duke 390 streetfighter is priced at INR 2.48 lakh (ex-showroom). The pre-bookings for the adventure motorcycle were already open from the past few weeks while the deliveries are expected to commence from the last week of this month or in the first week of February 2020.

Mechanically, the KTM 390 Adventure is powered by the same engine as in the 390 Duke. The 373.2cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine is capable of producing 43.5HP of maximum power and 37Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It was expected that KTM will tune the engine differentially to make the bike more adventure specific but, in comparison to the 390 Duke, the brand has not made any changes to the power and torque output.

The adventure motorcycle is equipped with a 100/90-19 front tyre and a 130/80-17 rear tyre. Talking about the comfort, the seat of the bike looks wide and high whereas the distance between the tyre and rear seat confirms extended suspension travel on the brand’s latest adventure motorcycle. Moreover, the 390 Adventure has got an ample amount of ground clearance, which stands at 200mm. The seat height of the motorcycle is 855mm whereas the fuel tank capacity is 14.5-litres.

Like the 390 Duke, the KTM 390 Adventure is also equipped with an all-digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. In terms of braking, the motorcycle is equipped with a 320mm front disc brake and a 230mm rear disc brake, which are further mated to a disengageable Bosch 9M+ dual-channel ABS unit. The suspension travel stands at 170mm for the front wheel and 177mm for the rear wheel. The motorcycle is also equipped with switchable Traction Control System (TCS).

According to recent reports, the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 are expected to be launched in India by mid-2021. The motorcycles were previously expected to be launched as debut products from the brand though surprisingly, the India Bike Week 2019 witnessed the launch of lower-displacement Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250 as the debutant products from the Swedish brand.

The Husqvarna 401 series is currently available in the international markets while expected to make a substantial entry into the Indian market considering the powerful engine and the neo-retro designs. Based on the underpinnings of KTM Duke 390, the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 features a cafe racer-inspired design language while the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 features a scrambler design.

Meet Custom-Made KTM RC 390 SRV: Saurav Verma, a student of National Institute of Design, India has recently created a full-fledged Italian motorcycle from the KTM RC 390 as a part of his final project. The conversion of an RC 390 into an Italian sports motorcycle from scratch makes it worthy of a mention and that’s what we are going to do.

Matching the MV Agusta F4 in terms of the final design, Saurav’s production-ready KTM RC 390 SRV was selected for the competition of the modified bikes at the recently conducted India Bike Week 2019. The motorcycle has been developed by scraping off the orange body fairing of the KTM RC 390 and the same has been replaced with fibre-reinforced plastic mountings made from scratch.

The overall design of the KTM RC 390 SRV takes inspiration from a Falcon, which was chosen by Saurav for converting his dream into reality. The body panels in addition to the paint scheme as well as the design of the front apron of the motorcycle have been inspired by a Falcon’s body. The body panels of the motorcycle were carved after the final design with the help of MDF filled with waste styrofoam.

The front cowl has been specifically designed by moulding thin plastic sheets while the front windscreen has been taken from the Honda CBR250R. The side fairing and the rear profile were also moulded with the help of laser-cut MDF parts and joined together with M-seal. The mainframe of the motorcycle has been further equipped with a separate rail underneath it that offers resistance in case of high speed.

Saurav has offered a unique look to the underlying KTM RC 390 by offering a split taillight design and a single-pod LED unit at the front. The overall profile of the motorcycle has been made aggressive with neatly carved body panels. The outcome of the project is something worthy enough to grab major attention and it stands out among the rest.
