New 7-Seater Maruti SUV in the Works: As per the latest buzz, Maruti Suzuki with a purpose to increase its overall market share is planning to launch a 7-seater SUV that is likely to get the Vitara branding. Since Maruti has discontinued all of its diesel engines after the implementation of the BS6 emission norms, the brand feels obligated to offer more to its customers to remain ahead in the game.

Since all the Maruti’s top competitors have upgraded their diesel engines to meet the BS6 emission norms, launching an all-new SUV will be one of the wisest steps taken by the brand to maintain its market share in India. Expected to be based on the HEARTECT platform, the upcoming 7-Seater Maruti SUV will feature a three-row seating architecture.

The brand is expected to offer the upcoming SUV with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine which will be good a maximum power of 103 HP at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 138 Nm at 4400 rpm. The 1.5L engine from Maruti Suzuki has been known to offer optimum performance in addition to offering an unrivalled driving experience.

The recent report suggests that the upcoming 7-seater Maruti SUV will be unveiled by the brand in 2021. The brand currently uses the Vitara branding for three of its cars which includes the Vitara Brezza, Grand Vitara that was launched in India in 2003 in addition to the international-spec Vitara SUV.

Once launched in India, the 7-seater Maruti Suzuki is expected to compete with the likes of the most-dominating SUVs in the Indian market like Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier and more. The brand is also expected to unveil an electric SUV in the coming months by the name Futuro-E though there has been no official confirmation received on the same.

Indian automotive markets aren’t a big fan of the 7-seater MPV segment which is currently ruled by the Maruti Ertiga though, the recent introduction of Kia Carnival has made the things heat up a bit. The MPV segment in India has started to wake up from the slumber while some reports also suggest that Tata will be introducing an Altroz-based 7-seater MPV in the Indian markets in the coming months.

Though all the recent plans for the automakers seem to witness an indefinite halt due to the nationwide lockdown, the introduction of a Maruti Ertiga competitor for the Indian markets from Tata Motors almost seems like a possibility. If or when the brand plans to take the MPV into consideration, it will be based on the ALFA architecture platform, which also gave birth to the Altroz premium hatchback.

According to the brand, the ALFA platform can be stretched from 3700mm to 4300mm in length while the wheelbase can be only stretched to 2450mm. If the brand plans on introducing the 7-seater MPV based on the same platform, it can make use of the Tata Nexon-inspired 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and the 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine for the Altroz-based 7-seater MPV. The former is capable of offering maximum power of 120 HP and a peak torque of 170 Nm while the latter is good for 110 HP and 260 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual or AMT gearbox as an option.

Coming to the closest competitor it will have in the Indian markets, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is now BS6-compliant and the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder K15B Smart Hybrid petrol engine equipped on the MPV is good for 105 HP of maximum power and an utmost torque of 138 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque converter gearbox can also be availed as an option. Once launched in India, the Tata Altroz-based 7-seater MPV will also lock horns with Mahindra Marazzo.

7-Seater Hyundai Creta Spotted: The most anticipated 7-seat model of the Hyundai Creta SUV has been spotted for the first time testing in South Korea. Featuring a host of cosmetic differences when compared to the 5-seat Creta, the upcoming 7-seater variant of the most sought-after SUV is expected to foresee a rather large fanbase.

Coming to the front fascia, the brand has equipped the SUV with a distinguished radiator grille that has been polished in chrome. In addition to this, the brand has also equipped the 7-seater Creta with front parking sensors which are missing in the 5-seater version.

Further taking inspiration from its 5-seater variant, the recently spotted SUV features similar 17-inch clean-silver alloy wheels. The 7-seater variant features a silver-coated side sill in addition to offering a flat profile. Hyundai has imparted a slimmer profile to the C-pillar which now houses the quarter glass for the third-row passengers to look outside.

The brand has further offered the 7-seat Hyundai Creta with an elongated rear to accommodate the third row of seats though one cannot expect it to offer a lot of legroom. The boot space offered to the upcoming SUV will ultimately be lesser than the 5-seater variant though the overall luggage carrying capacity will be higher with folded rear seats.

The customers will be able to get their hands on the 7-seat Creta with three powertrain options namely 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine that will be good for 115HP and 144Nm, a 1.4L turbocharged petrol unit good for 140HP and 242Nm as well as a 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine that will be good for 115HP and 250Nm.

All the engine variants will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while the customers can also avail a 7-speed DCT gearbox (1.4L Petrol), a CVT gearbox (1.5L Petrol), and a 6-speed torque converter AT gearbox (1.5L Diesel) as an option.

The brand is expected to officially launch the 7-seat Hyundai Creta sometime in 2021 while one can expect it to get a starting price tag of around INR 10.50-11.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

7-Seater Hyundai Creta SUV in the Making: According to recent reports, Hyundai is planning to introduce a 7-seater Creta variant that will compete in the Indian market against the likes of Mahindra XUV500 as well as the Tata Gravitas. The brand has recently unveiled the next-gen Creta at the Auto Expo 2020 while one can expect more information on the 7-seater version of the SUV in the coming months.

The render of the expected SUV has been revealed by SRK Designs from IAB and judging from the looks of it, the SUV looks like a stretched variant of the 5-seater Creta with a larger boomerang front grille mated to LED DRLS and projector headlamps. The Hyundai logo has been positioned just at the centre of the chrome grille while the lower bumper has been equipped with fog lamps with skid plates at the bottom.

The length of the Hyundai Creta has been increased to accommodate the third row of passengers while the wheelbase has also been increased. In addition to this, the floating roof design, as well as the diamond-cut alloy wheel setup in the 7-seater Hyundai Creta remains similar when compared to the standard 5-seater variant. The designers have not offered any interiors details on the upcoming SUV though one can expect the Korean manufacturer to offer a host of premium features to its next flagship product.

In addition to this, the upcoming SUV is expected to feature similar powertrains as offered to the recently launched Kia Seltos which includes a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine. The engines will be further mated to a manual and DCT gearboxes depending on the variant. There has been no official information revealed on the 7-seater Hyundai Creta though one can expect the SUV to feature almost identical designing traits as interpreted by SRK Designs.

The Suzuki XL7 has been recently launched in Indonesia at a starting price tag of IDR 230,000,000 (INR 12 lakhs approx) while the prices go all the way up to IDR 267,000,000 (INR 13.94 lakhs approx) for the top-end variant. The MPV is based on the India-specific XL6 while getting a dual-tone colour scheme in the Indonesian market.

The recent reports also suggest that Maruti might launch the Suzuki XL7 in the Indian market in the coming months though there has been no official confirmation received on the same. Comparing the XL7 with its smaller sibling XL6, the former has been equipped with a black roof spoiler in addition to getting black door visors, side mirrors as well as 16-inch alloy wheel setup. In addition to this, the brand has equipped with XL7 with an upper spoiler at the rear that differentiates it from the XL6.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, the biggest difference between both the two MPVs is the cabin design. The Suzuki XL7 has been equipped with a comfortable bench in the second row that is capable of adjusting three passengers in contrast to the two captain seats offered to the XL6.

The XL7 will be further available to the customers in three trims namely: Beta, Zeta and Alpha. The Zeta variant of the MPV features an LED headlight setup at the font mated to LED DRLs while gets a 16-inch alloy wheels setup. The MPV variant has been equipped with fog lamps at the front while the taillights have also been offered an LED treatment.

Inside the cabin, the MPV features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system in addition to getting a second-row armrest for additional comfort. The Beta trim has been equipped with additional functionalities like passive keyless entry, LED light guide, an engine start/stop button, an armrest in the first row, adjustable ORVMs and more. The Alpha trim on the XL7 further includes the door sill guard, rear upper spoiler, door visors, e-mirror and more.

Powering the Suzuki XL7 is the K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 105HP @ 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 138 Nm @ 4,400 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the customers can also avail the 4-speed automatic transmission as an option. Since the XL7 features only a sportier design language as well as a different second-row setup when compared to the XL6, the probability of the launch of the 7-seater XL7 is quite high in the Indian market.

The upcoming seven-seater SUV from the Indian brand, the Tata Gravitas has been recently spotted testing on the Indian roads. As per the latest details available, the 7-Seater Maruti WagonR will launch in India by Diwali this year. The production of this compact people mover will be handled by the Gujarat facility of Maruti Suzuki. Launch of the new 7-Seater Maruti WagonR will create a new segment in India as pricing it between INR 6-7 lakh will allow buyers to choose this one in place of Eeco for a premium feel.

People who were planning for Ertiga petrol could also consider WagonR 7-Seater for once, slightly compromising on the comfort and the rear legroom. Maruti will use the same platform as the regular WagonR and thus, upcoming safety norms will be followed with full effect on the new 7-seat version.

New-Gen Maruti WagonR (5-Seat)
New-Gen Maruti WagonR (5-Seat)

The new car will feature three rows of seating and that too with front facing seats on all three of them. To keep the added weight away from the ground, Maruti will offer 7-seat WagonR with more ground clearance and added features. Like the 5-seat model of WagonR, the interior will feature dual-tone black and beige finish while features like remote control central locking and power steering will help the users enjoy driving this car all around with ease.

The 7-Seater Maruti WagonR will measure under 4 meter in length and will compete in the market with none other than Datsun Go+ in India. It will benefit from Maruti’s large dealership network and one of the recent reports hint that the 7-seat WagonR will retail from the NEXA stores.

Maruti WagonR Interior
The Dashboard Design is Expected to Stay Same like the 5-Seat Model

Datsun Go+ was a capable product but, could not sell in good numbers as last row seats are much compact in comparison to bigger cars. They can only be used by children and thus, will give an edge to Maruti WagonR 7-Seater over its primary rival. The car will carry ABS and dual front airbags as standard.

Maruti is yet to offer these safety features on smaller hatchbacks but those receiving face-lifts are either getting them standard or at least through optional variants. The upcoming model of WagonR will be powered by the same 1.2L petrol engine, which is good for 82HP of maximum power and 113NM of maximum torque.

Renault Triber, the much-awaited 7-seater MPV with KWID-inspired fascia, has been officially unveiled in India. The car measures 3.99-meters in length, further getting benefits from the government’s compact car taxation slab. The best part for the car is its removable third-row of seats, providing emergency seating to those who have occasional guests with them. Renault Triber offers impressive boot area for the five-seat MPV fans.

The car comes with a modified KWID-sourced CMF-A frame, helping the MPV stay lighter, robust, and fuel-efficient at the same time. The front comes with a new set of headlights, all-new grille, and a different rear section with a more boxy appeal.

The most powerful factor to drive the Renault Triber ahead of the rivals is the practical use of space on the inside, offering 7.8-inch infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, dual tone interior scheme, 3.5-inch LCD display with a standard analogue console, and reclining second-row seats.

When not using the third row, the middle one can slide a bit to the rear, offering more legroom at the rear than the three-row setup. The last row comes with AC vents and charging socket to keep up with the modern day lifestyle-enhancing feature list of the cars.

Renault Triber comes with ABS, rear parking sensors, speed warning system, and dual front airbags as standard. The top-spec variant is said to offer more airbags and a rearview camera. Renault is using an upgraded 1.0L, 3-cylinder engine on the Triber, which is good for 72 HP of maximum power at 6250 rpm and 96 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm.

The MPV will use the familiar 5-speed gearbox for the standard engine while 1.0L turbo petrol is expected to arrive with manual as well as AMT gearbox. The hint of 20% lower pricing than rivals makes the Renault Triber good for an INR 5.25 lakh starting price (expected ex-showroom pricing).
