When your passion doesn’t allow you to settle for less, creations like this typical Benelli TNT 300 with a Ducati outfit is a sure-shot result. The modification has been done in Vietnam and the body parts of the TNT 300 streetfighter have been swapped with the actual Ducati 899 Panigale parts, keeping the underpinnings truly Benelli with the same frame and suspension components.

Even the LED headlamps have been sourced from the original model, making this motorcycle look actually the same as the original Ducati 899 Panigale superbike. This replica looks so close to the actual model that a lot of bike enthusiasts would not be able to figure out that it’s not an original Ducati.

The performance has not been altered for the Benelli engine and it is still good for 38.26BHP of maximum power. In comparison, the 899 Panigale generates 146BHP of max power. The smaller disc brakes of this modified TNT 300 do give a hint that it’s not an actual model of the Ducati 899 Panigale but it’s undoubtedly the closest-possible replica of the original sportbike.

The aftermarket SC-Project exhaust system must be able to make it sound better but won’t help it achieve the huge gap between the power values of the original Ducati 899 Panigale superbike and the Benelli TNT 300 streetfighter.

Benelli TNT 300 is a naked streetfighter, providing a lot of options for customisation in terms of fairing attachments than other machines which are sold with factory fairings. The owner’s dream of owning a Ducati Panigale superbike could have never been better lived than this one.

Last year, Benelli dropped the ex-showroom price tag of the TNT 300 to INR 2.99 lakh in India. The motorcycle comes with 2-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard. It is being expected that the brand will replace the TNT 300 with the 302S in the coming months.

According to the recent buzz, KTM is working on introducing an all-new 890 Duke in its naked motorcycle portfolio. Since the 790 Duke is equipped with a Euro 5 engine, the lesser power generation is affecting the popularity of the motorcycle brand ever since the introduction of the more powerful Kawasaki Z900, Ducati Monster 821, and Triumph Street Triple RS. To stay ahead in the game, KTM plans on revealing the 890 Duke with more power and a better power-to-weight ratio.

With the increase in the engine displacement, the KTM 890 Duke will further offer 15HP-20HP more power when compared to the 105HP generated by the Duke 790. One can expect the 890cc machine to compete with the likes of Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple RS and the Ducati Monster 821 which currently offers a maximum power of 125HP, 123HP, and 109HP respectively.

In addition to this, the rumoured motorcycle will be equipped with higher-spec Brembo brake callipers at either end. Apart from these, the motorcycle is expected to retain the mechanical traits of its 790 sibling which includes the addition of cornering ABS, traction control, quick shifter as well as three riding modes.

The Austrian motorcycle manufacturer is expected to unveil the prototype of the 890 Duke at the upcoming EICMA 2019 while one can expect the production-spec variant of the motorcycle to launch by mid-2020. The brand is also expected to add a 500cc parallel-twin engine to its portfolio in the coming months though, no official confirmation has been made on the same. As far as the launch of 790 Duke is concerned, the streetfighter was recently spotted in India and it is expected to launch on September 5, 2019.

An avid biker named Sunil Singh recently completed the Delhi-to-Leh road trip on a Kawasaki Z900. The journey started from Delhi on June 4 before coming to an end at the same point on June 16. The other three riders from the group were using Royal Enfield Classic and Himalayan for the journey. The first day of riding was summed up in Patnitop, leaving them with Patnitop to Sonmarg for the next day. The fifth and sixth day were spent in Leh, exploring the city and taking some break before reaching Nubra and Pangong.

The journey earlier had a full day of rain while reaching Nyoma took things to the next level with snowfall near Changla Pass. The return was planned from Manali side. Before coming back, the night stay in Sarchu was the coldest part with Minus 5-degree temperature freezing open drinking water. The Sarchu to Keylong stretch took them through 20 feet ice walls and not just that, almost 5 km of distance was covered entirely on the snow. The next challenge came in the form of muddy roads and water crossings between Keylong and Mandi.

The last day of riding started from Mandi and concluded in Delhi. The journey may sound familiar to many but when imagined from the seat of a Kawasaki Z900, things become interesting with the 125 HP of power from the inline-4, 948cc engine. The remaining three bikes are known to take on these road conditions in the most comfortable manner.

The rider got himself an insurance policy to save from rock and snow damage from Zana International while Aurum Kawasaki was responsible for the servicing of the motorcycle before the ride started from Delhi. The total distance covered is said to be more than 3000km and doing the same on a Z900 was a really bold act.

Delhi-to-Leh Road Trip (Riders List)

  • Sunil Singh – Kawasaki Z900
  • Yashveer Singh – Royal Enfield Classic 500
  • Venkatesh Singh – RE Classic 500 Desert Storm
  • Shivam Singh – Royal Enfield Himalayan

2019 Triumph Street Twin has been launched in India for INR 7.45 lakh. Not just that, buyers can also consider the 2019 Street Scrambler in India for INR 8.55 lakh. Both the prices mentioned are ex-showroom Delhi while engine upgrades are also common among the models. The 900cc, parallel-twin engine on the motorcycle is now good for 80 Nm of torque at 3800 rpm. The overall output is also similar, offering 65 HP of maximum power at 7500 rpm for both the Street Twin and Scrambler. The torque curve is flat in comparison to the 2018 variants while the overall increase in power is 18% (from 55HP on the older model).

2019 Triumph Street Twin

The Street Twin is available with Road and Rain riding modes while shades available for the same are Jet Black, Korosi Red, and Matt Ironstone. However, the pricing for the model has gone down considerably, offering the new variant for INR 25,000 worth lower ex-showroom price than the 2018 model. Street Scrambler, on the other hand, is now down by INR 5000 from its last price. The engine components now feature lighter crank as well as balancing shaft, light clutch, and magnesium cam cover. The 5-speed gearbox is as smooth as the older version while cosmetic updates are also limited to certain decals only.

2019 Triumph Street Scrambler

The 2-piston front Nissin callipers now make way for the 4-piston callipers from Brembo, improving the overall braking power for both the motorcycles. 2019 Street Scrambler can be had in Fusion White, Matte Khaki with Aluminium Silver, and Cranberry Red. The difference of INR 1.10 lakh brings a different set of tires, raised Scrambler exhaust, underbody protection and much more to the package. However, the use of spoke wheels on the Scrambler variant is more beneficial for those who actually ride on the rough patches than the decently-designed alloy wheels on the Street Twin.

Yamaha has introduced another price hike for MT-09 in India, and the brand is now offering the powerful street machine for INR 10,55,354. The ex-showroom price is approximately INR 16,000 higher than the value that was charged earlier for this model. They have not mentioned any specific reason for this price hike, like the earlier one, when the MT-09 got a price hike of INR 84,000 in September 2018.

The motorcycle rivals Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple and Suzuki GSX-S750 in its segment. Out of all the rivals, only Triumph Street Triple RS is priced higher than the Yamaha MT-09, that too because of the premium suspension parts and a more powerful engine tune.

Yamaha MT-09 Price Increased
Yamaha MT-09 Price Increased by INR 16,000 in India

Yamaha MT-09 is also the least selling motorcycle of this segment, headed by one out of Street Triple or Z900 every month. The latter is not electronically loaded, offering raw output to the buyer while all others, including MT-09, are available with rider-friendly features like traction control and riding modes. India spec MT-09 is available with Yamaha Blu, Night Fluo and Tech Black shade. The 3-cylinder, 847cc engine is good for 115 PS at 10,000 rpm and 87.5 Nm at 8,500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

MT-09 weighs just 193 kg and carries a 14-litre fuel tank. The dual front hydraulic disc setup (298mm), along with rear single disc (245mm), is available with standard 2-channel ABS. The front tire is 120/70ZR17 while rear measures 180/55ZR17, both being the best one can get around this segment. Yamaha MT-09 takes design inspiration from the bigger MT-10, using a different design but sharing the same sort of headlight placement.

# Engine Size

Suzuki GSX-S750 comes with a powerful 749cc, 4-cylinder engine. This offers 114 HP at 10500 rpm and 81 Nm at 9000 rpm. Add displacement equal to Pulsar NS200 to this package and you get the 948cc, 4-cylinder Z900. The motorcycle is good for 125 HP at 9500 rpm and 98.6 Nm at 7500 rpm. The engine definitely favours Z900 here but it’s purely on the buyers if so much power is required in the real world, that too without considering features, our next important point.

# Electronic Features

Z900 is pure power and controlling that feels like an art for amateur riders. It lacks the use of traction control, a basic safety feature for riders that helps on different sort of surfaces. It only comes with dual channel ABS. On the other hand, buyers of Suzuki GSX-S750 get switchable traction control system along with ABS. This three setting system can be switched off if the rider wants to enjoy all the power in a most aggressive way.

# Riding Nature

GSX-S750 produces power at much higher rpms than Z900, making it better for riders who love revving their bike is smaller gear for that adrenaline rush. Kawasaki Z900 has loads of power and most of that is available in commuter friendly range for ease of street riding. Also, the smaller GSX-S750 weighs more than Z900. Less power and more weight means it won’t clearly win in a straight road challenge but added electronic features definitely help it during difficult times on twisted roads.

# Price Comparison

Suzuki GSX-750 is priced at INR 7.45 lakh and Kawasaki Z900 is available for INR 7.68 lakh. Both these prices are ex-showroom. On-road price will differ by almost INR 25,000 but more than that, mouth-watering offers from both brands can even decide who gets the bigger number.
