All-New Hyundai Aura Compact Sedan Officially Revealed

The all-new Hyundai Aura has been revealed in India ahead of its launch that is scheduled to take place early next year. It is the next-generation model of the Hyundai Xcent which was based on the Grand i10 while the Aura compact sedan is based on the recently launched Grand i10 Nios hatchback. Mechanically, the Aura sedan will be offered with three BS6-compliant engine options. First one is a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine that produces 83HP of maximum power and 114Nm of peak torque. The second engine option is a 1.2-litre diesel engine that churns out 75HP of max power along with 190Nm of peak torque. Both these engines will come mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The third engine available with the new Hyundai Aura sedan is a 1.0-litre, turbo petrol unit that is already available with the Venue compact SUV though it has been tuned to produce 100HP of maximum power, which is lower than the 120HP power output produced by the Venue. In terms of the torque, both the Venue and Aura are good for 172Nm. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine will be available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Hyundai will also offer a factory-fit CNG option with the 1.2-litre petrol engine. If we go by the dimensions of the car, it has the same length of 3,995mm and height of 1520mm as the Xcent, but it is 20mm wider at 1680mm and has a 25mm longer wheelbase at 2450mm. Talking about the external styling of the car, the Hyundai Aura is more or less similar to the Grand i10 Nios from the front end. But from its C-Pillar onwards, it differentiates itself from the hatchback as it has a neatly integrated boot with a stylish rear design. At the rear end, this sub-four-meter compact sedan gets a sleek wraparound tail light design with LED inserts, along with a carved boot-lid. The front of the Aura and Nios are also slightly different as the upcoming sedan gets dual boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. As per the details available, the 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels will be standard on top-spec variants while the entry-level variants will get steel wheels with full covers. The interiors of the Hyundai Aura have not been revealed yet but it will surely share its controls, seats, and dashboard with the Grand i10 Nios. It will get an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen that will also support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Aura sedan will also get Hyundai’s iBlue Audio remote smartphone application, which is available on the Grand i10 Nios. The Hyundai Aura will compete in the Indian market with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor, Ford Aspire, and the upcoming Renault LBA compact sedan that will be launched in late 2020.
