According to the recent buzz, Bajaj Auto will be bringing out its quarter-litre range of Avenger cruiser motorcycle in the year 2022. In addition to the upcoming Avenger 250, the brand is also focusing on introducing the Pulsar NS250, Pulsar RS250, and the Pulsar AS250 around the same time. The quarter-litre motorcycles will be a bonus for the customers looking for a powerful engine without letting go of the fuel efficiency.

The reports also suggest that the upcoming Bajaj Avenger 250 will be replacing the existing Avenger 220 series in the Indian market. The better engine specifications would make the Avenger 250 one of the most interesting options for relaxed touring. One can expect the brand to offer a host of premium features to the 250cc Avenger in addition to the introduction of a fuel-injected liquid-cooled engine. The brand will also be equipping the motorcycle with a 2-channel ABS unit as standard.

Just like the current 220cc series of the Bajaj Avenger, customers will be able to avail the Avenger 250 in two different variants namely: Street and Cruise. The brand is likely to equip the motorcycle with KTM Duke 250-inspired liquid-cooled engine though, the power and torque figures will be tuned to suit the characteristics of a cruiser motorcycle. In addition to this, Bajaj Auto will be offering the Avenger 250 an all-new retro-modern design profile.

After its official launch in India, the Bajaj Avenger 250 will compete in the market with the likes of the Yamaha FZ25, Royal Enfield Bullet X, and the upcoming Suzuki Intruder 250. One can expect the brand to price the 250cc model of the Avenger at around INR 1.35-1.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Not every day you will get to see something as good as Thunderbird Kolos Power Cruiser by JEDI Customs. Based on the popular Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350, the motorcycle you see here carries completely different stance and flaunts huge tyres at both ends.

Keen eyes will even notice a new swing-arm and thus, wheelbase gets extended by a few millimetres automatically. These huge tyres demand a new set of wheels and JEDI Customs has used all-new black painted spoke units that could support the almost superbike size giant rear tyre.

Headlight used here is completely retro-designed while the suspension components are inspired from Bullet 350. Both wheels are equipped with the standard available set of disc brakes while most other components have been fabricated in-house by JEDI Customs.

The huge fuel tank, razor-sharp battery panel, and uniquely designed belly area make Thunderbird Kolos a unique option among other modified Royal Enfield motorcycles. The divided seat now gets replaced with an ultra-cushioned single seat with custom backrest. The rear fender has also been specially made to take the huge rear wheel under control.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird Kolos

The custom handlebar is extra wide and has been placed much lower than the stock option available on the Thunderbird 350. Using custom exhaust unit completes the mod and helps it achieve the unique look of a power cruiser. Thunderbird 350 uses a carburettor fed, air-cooled engine, and no changes to the motor have been made by JEDI Customs. The 346cc, single-cylinder unit on the motorcycle is good for 20 HP at 5250 rpm and 28 Nm at 4000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Thunderbird Kolos comes with a custom finished rear light while the number plate holder has been moved to the left side of the swing-arm. Royal Enfield motorcycles are the most preferred option for customization for their easy dynamics and huge stance. JEDI Customs has even used a racing stripe on the fuel tank to give the Kolos a unique touch in terms of the design.

Harley-Davidson is planning to enter the small displacement segment through a partnership with Zhejiang Qianjiang brand from China. The brand is planning two different motorcycles and first of them could be named Harley-Davidson Street 350.

It will carry a 338cc engine, most probably using a single cylinder layout to keep the cost under check. However, if Harley wishes to keep the legacy of twin cylinder motors alive, the 338cc twin-cylinder motor could be an indirect rival to products like Benelli Imperiale 400 and Royal Enfield Classic 350. As both the rivals are single-cylinder, it makes sense to keep the motorcycle engine single cylinder.

The Chinese market is yet to witness any considerable growth in the small displacement motorcycle segment and launch of compact cruiser from Harley-Davidson could help them score more profits and numbers like the other brands are planning with Indian collaborations.

Harley-Davidson Street 750 Discount
Harley-Davidson Street 750 Being Offered with INR 1 Lakh Discount

Triumph is expected to launch a motorcycle by partnering Bajaj Auto while KTM is already using extensive production facilities offered by the Bajaj group. Harley-Davidson Street 350 will be the most compact, lightweight, and agile motorcycle from the lineup, helping attract first-time premium motorcycle buyers in the Asian countries.

Zhejiang Qianjiang already owns Benelli globally while the launch of the Harley Street 350 is expected to happen in China by late 2020. This would mean an interesting product for India by early 2021, that too with production taking place in the country to keep costs lower than usual.

The Chinese brand will assemble parts and other services for Harley-Davidson while it seems like the branding and retail part would be left for the American manufacturer. As the JV between Benelli’s Chinese parent group and Indian partner is already in effect, this will not be considered a violation by the brand. The Harley-Davidson Street 350 is expected to get a price tag of around INR 3.00-3.50 lakh.

Harley-Davidson Street 750 is available with a discount worth INR 1 lakh from a dealer in Gurugram, Haryana. The amount will be slashed directly from the ex-showroom price and thus, buyers can get their hands on the motorcycle for INR 4.33 lakh. The discount is valid on the remaining stock with 2018 as the manufacturing year while those looking forward to 2019 model can avail INR 64,000 worth discount.

The practical difference between both the 2018 and 2019 model is zero, with all discounted models available in only Vivid Black shade. The bikes are brand new and will carry the standard warranty package as all other bikes.

Harley-Davidson Street 750 Discount
Harley-Davidson Street 750 Being Offered with INR 1 Lakh Discount

As the stock is very limited, Capital Harley-Davidson will not be able to keep up with the discount for a long time. Those interested can reach the dealership or contact them for booking a Street 750. Earlier, the dealer was offering the motorcycle with INR 75,000 down payment and INR 7500 EMI.

As Street 750 is the most affordable motorcycle from Harley, bikers usually prefer getting their hands on the same and ride for a few years before upgrading to full-sized cruisers. Still, the motorcycle weighs decently-high at 233kg with a full fuel tank.

The 749cc, Revolution X V-twin engine on the motorcycle is good for 59 Nm of massive torque at 3750 rpm. The point that went against the cruiser was the launch of Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, producing 52 Nm of torque at 5250 rpm. The price tag of the 650cc Interceptor at INR 2.50 lakh has forced many buyers to reconsider their riding preferences as Street 750 costs INR 5.33 lakh (ex-showroom India).

Hero Honda Splendor, the most loved commuter of India of all time can be seen here in the cruiser guise by Full Throttle Customs. The modifier has worked extensively on the Splendor as no component other than the engine, alloy wheels and suspension looks similar to the stock motorcycle. The fuel tank has been replaced with a peanut design tank while seat now flows in a different design than the thin stock unit. It could have been made neat by using the matching cover to the headlight casing. The alloy wheels are available with matching pinstripes while the same shade can also be found on handlebar levers.

The exposed frame is compensated by the leather bag to some extent but still, the small engine casing is visible through the empty area. The side panels have been replaced with the custom FTC branded panels while the rear now comes with a wide tire and a different fender than the standard version. The black pods from the console were replaced with a single chrome pod while indicators are now different with typical arrow signals in them. The front tire stays the same as stock Spendor and thus, the plain pattern comes into action. The motorcycle retains the rear suspension components with stock covers from the Hero Honda Splendor.

The motorcycle is powered by a 97.2cc, single cylinder engine, producing 8.2 HP at 8000 rpm and 8.05 Nm at 5000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 4-speed gearbox. The 109 kg motorcycle seems to lose some weight here as the front fender of the Splendor is also seen in a chopped form. The Spendor can be had in either the stock Plus variant or the slightly modern Pro variant in India.

Those looking for the 125cc option can get their hands on the Super Splendor. The stock Splendor range starts from INR 50,860 and comes with integrated braking system as standard. According to Full Throttle Customs, the approximate modification cost of this Hero Honda Splendor is INR 60,000. You can contact the modifier for further details and inquiries.

A recent report from BikeAdvice claims that Suzuki GZ150 is preparing for its Indian debut in the coming weeks. This report is backed by a dealer statement while estimated period for the launch is 60-90 days.

It is said that company engineers have asked them to prepare for this model and even Motul recently examined the GZ150 for India. In fact, if these things prove right, buyers will have an excellent option when looking for lightweight cruiser motorcycle before this festive season.

Suzuki GZ150 is currently on sale in Vietnam and Colombia. It comes with a 150cc, single cylinder fuel injected engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Here, using the engine from Gixxer can even help them keep cost under check.

Suzuki can swap the fuel injection with carburetor and further reduce the initial effective cost of GZ150. As it weighs 137 kg (dry), performance will definitely surprise the first time cruiser riders for sure. Suzuki offers a seat height of 710 mm for GZ150.

Sharing parts would not be a problem as it comes with conventional front forks and single front disc brake for the front section. However, using twin shocks and a different set of fuel tank, seats, exhaust and alloy wheels will need some time for localization.

Suzuki GZ150 costs 41,99,000 Peso (INR 89,000 approx) in Columbia. That makes it lower than Suzuki Gixxer at 43,99,000 Peso (INR 93,000). Both the bikes use fuel injection in Columbia and hence, Suzuki could place the same at around INR 85,000 in India for the carburetter model.

Key Specs of Suzuki GZ150

  • Displacement – 149.5cc, Air-Cooled
  • Maximum Power – 15.42 Bhp @ 8000 rpm
  • Maximum Torque – 11.20 Nm @ 6000 rpm
  • No. of Cylinders – 1
  • No. of Gears – 5
  • Seat Height – 710 mm
  • Ground Clearance – 150 mm
  • Dry Weight – 137 kg
  • Kerb/Wet Weight – 150 kg
  • Fuel Tank Capacity – 11.50 litres
