In February 2024, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the leading automaker in India, continued its streak of dominance in the market, maintaining the number one position in sales. The company recorded sales of 1,60,272 units, marking a 9 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth and securing a commanding 43.1 percent market share. This performance follows the sale of 1,47,467 units in February 2023. However, month-on-month (MoM) sales experienced a slight decline of 4 percent from 1,66,802 units sold in January 2024.

The Maruti WagonR secured the top position on the sales list in February 2024, posting a 15 percent YoY growth with sales reaching 19,412 units. This is an improvement from the 16,889 units sold in February 2023. MoM sales also saw a positive trend, increasing by 9 percent from 17,756 units in January 2024. The WagonR not only claimed the number one position among the top 10 car sales but also contributed to Maruti Suzuki's dominance in the market with the company holding six spots on the list.

Mixed Performance for Maruti Baleno and DZire

Sales of the Maruti Baleno witnessed a 6 percent decline YoY and an 11 percent decrease MoM, with sales dipping to 17,517 units in February 2024. Similarly, the Maruti DZire experienced a drop in both YoY and MoM figures, recording 15,837 unit sales, significantly lower than the previous year's figures of 16,798 units and January 2024's 16,773 units, respectively. These lower sales could be attributed to the anticipation surrounding the launch of the 2024 Maruti DZire, scheduled after the debut of the new Swift.

Maruti Ertiga's Remarkable Growth

The Maruti Ertiga showcased remarkable growth, with sales soaring by 140 percent YoY, reaching 15,519 units in February 2024 compared to 6,472 units sold in the same period last year. This impressive performance can be attributed to the vehicle's powerful engine and competitive pricing. Additionally, MoM sales also experienced a positive trend, growing by 6 percent from 14,632 units in January 2024.

  • Fronx sales witnessed a 4 percent MoM growth, reaching 14,168 units in February 2024.

  • Maruti Swift faced a decline of 28 percent YoY and 14 percent MoM, with sales dropping to 13,165 units.
  • Maruti Eeco van sales saw growth both YoY and MoM, reaching 12,147 units.
  • Alto sales dipped to 11,723 units, down 35 percent YoY and 5 percent MoM.
  • The Grand Vitara recorded a 20 percent YoY growth to 11,002 units but experienced an 18 percent MoM sales decline, securing the second position on the compact SUV list.
  • Other models, including the XL6, Celerio, S-Presso, Ignis, and Ciaz, experienced varying degrees of YoY decline in sales, with only the Ciaz witnessing a 33 percent MoM sales improvement.
  • Invicto sales stood at 366 units, while the Maruti Jimny saw a 98 percent MoM sales increase to 322 units from 163 units sold in January 2024.
