According to the latest buzz, the Toyota Supra sports car is being evaluated by the brand for a possible India launch by the end of this fiscal year. Toyota is currently dominating the MPV and SUV segment with the Innova and Fortuner while the addition of a sports car would be much appreciated by the audience.

Toyota Supra is the sports car that has been a part of the brand’s race car division while it will be imported to India via the CBU route. The sports car has been officially christened as Gazoo Racing or GR Supra and is based on a similar platform as seen on the other racing cars in the brand’s division such as GR-Four. The Supra nametag made its comeback after 17 years back in 2019 at the Detroit Motor Show while carrying on a legacy of more than 50 years from its equally appealing predecessors.

The retro sports car design with sweeping headlight units at the front imparts it a futuristic outlook while the addition of gaping air intakes mated to the front grille on the open chin bumper adds on to its appeal. The spoiler integrates neatly with the rear bumper which offers a close resemblance to the Supra Mk4 while the unique LED tail lamps further offer it a modish appeal.

The driver-focused Toyota Supra sports car has been equipped with major premium bits inside the cabin which includes the likes of premium leather seats, robust 6.5-inch infotainment screen that can be controlled via the rotary knob positioned below the gear knob.

Powering the Toyota Supra is a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, twin-scroll, turbocharged engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 335 Bhp and a peak torque of 495 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed transmission while the sports car is capable of accelerating from 0-100kmph in just 4.1 seconds.

The top speed of the sports car stands at 250 kmph while the equal 50:50 weight distribution offers better aerodynamics. If and when launched in India, the Toyota Supra will be priced around INR 85 lakh to INR 95 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be considered as the brand’s flagship product.

The ABS model of the new Honda CBR150R was recently launched in Indonesia, hinting that the product seems ready for the launch in India. However, the launch feels uncertain as Honda has revealed that the brand has no plans to work on premium lightweight products for the country.

At present, the brand’s focus is on volume-generating products like the Activa and CB Shine series. We feel that Honda must bring the new CBR150R to the Indian market to compete with the Yamaha R15 V3. Yamaha is posting huge sales figures every month proving that buyers in India do have an interest in buying a premium and expensive 150cc bike.

The new Honda CBR150R ABS is now available in Indonesia in Matte Black, Victory Black Red, Honda Racing Red, and the popular MotoGP Edition. The motorcycle comes with an impressive windscreen, a sharp front headlight design, a balanced fairing, a split seat, and a black exhaust.

The CBR150R MotoGP Edition features orange alloy wheels while all other shades feature black wheels as standard. The ABS ring is clearly visible on the front brake, with Honda using the ABS sticker on the front fender for further confirmation. The 149cc, single-cylinder engine on the bike is good for 17.1HP of maximum power and 14.4Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The motorcycle also features emergency brake warning system which activates hazard lights in tough situations. The launch of the CBR150R in India will pose a direct threat to Yamaha R15 V3, which has stayed the undisputed king in the fully-faired 150cc segment from the first day of its launch. In case Honda plans to launch the CBR150R in the Indian market, the ex-showroom price of the motorcycle is expected to stay around INR 1.50 lakh.

According to the TKM officials, the Toyota RAV4 SUV is a more suitable product for the Indian markets when compared to the Toyota Corolla Altis sedan. The premium compact SUV segment in the Indian markets is one of the most sought-after segments for the customers when it comes to exceptional styling as well as affordable prices.

Since the Indian customers have shown great enthusiasm for the likes of midsize SUVs like Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, MG Hector and Kia Seltos, the TKM officials now believe that a compact SUV from Toyota is what the Indian markets need next. The launch of the Toyota RAV4 in India would be one of the wisest steps taken by the brand considering the sales factor.

Commenting on considering the RAV4 launch for India, Naveen Soni, Senior VP – Sales & Service, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), stated – “We have been watching the market response and we witness that customer preference is evolving in the C segment from sedan to SUV. Considering such evolving market needs, we will decide on our further course of action.”

Based on the brand’s TNGA platform, the Toyota RAV4 measures 4,600mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,685mm in height. The wheelbase of the compact SUV stands at 2,690mm, making it compete against the Tata Harrier with almost similar dimensions.

The Toyota RAV4 is available in the international markets in three petrol powertrains including an A25A-FXS 2.5-litre petrol engine, an M20A-FKS 2.0 litre petrol unit as well as A25A-FKS 2.5-litre petrol engine.

As the SUV has not been imparted a diesel engine, the lack of one can make it lose customers in the Indian markets. The brand is further advised to test the customer response for the launch of the RAV4 in India and then make the final decision.

The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 125 has been officially unveiled in the United Kingdom. The brand has not yet revealed the pricing details for the MY2020 variant, though one can expect it to get a slight increase in comparison to the MY2019 version which is priced at £3799 (INR 3.41 lakhs, approx.).

In terms of looks, there are no major changes and the 2020 model of the Ninja 125 continues to feature a single front headlight that is completely inspired by the quarter-litre Kawasaki SL range. Even the exhaust design is similar to the muffler seen on Ninja 250 SL. Apart from that, the design lines and sticker pattern is highly inspired by the bigger Ninja models.

The MY2020 Ninja 125 will be available in three colour schemes – Lime Green/Ebony (KRT Edition), Metallic Flat Stardust White/Metallic Flat Spark Black, and Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Flat Spark Black. The 11-litre fuel tank is good enough to provide a respectable range for a bike with a 125cc single-cylinder engine. Kawasaki Ninja 125 measures 1935mm in length, 685mm in width and 1075mm in height. The wheelbase measures 1330mm while the ground clearance stands at 170mm.

The 125cc engine is liquid-cooled and fuel-injected, producing a maximum power of 15HP @ 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 11.7 Nm @ 7,700 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 125 is equipped with conventional front telescopic suspension measuring 37mm and the sportbike also features a clip-on handlebar for improved control over closed circuits or track-specific events. You can click here for complete specifications of the Ninja 125.

As of now, Kawasaki has no plans to launch the Ninja 125 in India, though the brand may consider it for our market in the future. As RC 125 has worked wonders for KTM, similarly, Kawasaki may also start manufacturing the Ninja 125 in India and launch it with a price tag of around INR 1.50-1.60 lakh (ex-showroom), plus they can also export the same to the nearby countries.

The Honda CBR250RR sports bike recently got an upgrade in Indonesia. The difference in the new and old variant can be judged by the new shades on offer while the brand has not made any mechanical changes to the motorcycle. The 2020 model of the CBR250RR is available in Bravery Mat Red and Black Freedom, along with the other two 2019 shades (Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic and Racing Red).

Honda CBR250RR is one of the smartest quarter-litre motorcycles across the globe. It features a sharp design, an aluminium swingarm and loads of segment-leading electronic components. Honda offers the sports bike with the smartest all-LED headlights around this segment that not just look good but also aids in low light visibility.

The not-so-good news for the CBR fans in India is that the chances of CBR250RR’s launch have gone down further with the introduction of CB300R in the country. The brand’s focus will now stay on single-cylinder bikes in the lightweight category. The 2020 CBR250RR retains dual-channel ABS, gold-finished upside-down front forks, dual exhaust system, ride-by-wire, and three riding modes.

The 250cc sports bike is equipped with an advanced all-digital instrument console, featuring every bit of information, including Comfort, Sport, and the Sport+ riding mode indication. The motorcycle is equipped with a powerful 249.7cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that generates a maximum power of 38.7HP @ 12,500 rpm and a peak torque of 23.3Nm @ 11,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Built on a Truss frame, the Honda CBR250RR features a 5-step adjustable rear monoshock, hydraulic disc brakes with ABS at both ends and a 140/70-17 rear tyre. The sports bike measures 2060mm in length and 1389mm in wheelbase, offering track-spec control through its impressive dimensions. The standard variant of the CBR250RR weighs just 165kgs while those looking for ABS variant will witness 3kgs of weight increase.

The highly aerodynamically-efficient motorcycle offers 145mm of decent ground clearance. The Indonesian market also offers some mouth-watering accessories like fender eliminator kit, single-seat cowl, hand-guard, aero fin, stunning tank pad, and metal radiator protector.

At present, the ABS model of the sportbike is available in Indonesia for IDR 72,302,000 (INR 3.79 lakh, approximate). HMSI has not announced anything officially regarding the launch of the CBR250RR in India though the brand may consider the sports bike for the Indian market at a later stage in future.

Even though Honda has made numerous attempts to bring the Honda HR-V to the Indian market but the recent updates suggest that the schedule got a backslide. The Japanese automobile giant was hopeful about the plan due to which the mid-size SUV was in its production process but owing to a few factors it got astray. According to a recent report by Autocar India, the Honda HR-V will not be brought to the Indian market.

However, when enquired about the rumours from the company’s official, they refused to open about the speculations. Following the launch of the mid-size SUV in the US and Japan, the brand had initiated a feasibility study back in 2013. The company soon realised that it will not be able to launch the product with a competitive price tag as the HR-V comprises a number of components that need to be imported.

This will, as a result, prove to be a major obstacle in bringing the Honda HR-V at an aggressive price range. Honda was looking forward to launching the HR-V in India with a 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine along with a 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. In terms of dimensions, the Honda HR-V is a 4.2-metre long crossover that has a monocoque construction, and if launched, it would have been competing with the likes of Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.

It was 2017, that the company finally was ready for HR-V’s much-anticipated launch in India and thus to keep the prices low, it tried to localise the model as far as possible. The current slowdown compelled Honda to cut down the production from 12,000 units to 8,000 units, which weren’t good for their business.

Even after the localisation attempts, the model only achieved 30% localisation, hence the 70% imported components from Thailand and China would make it difficult for the brand to price the car competitively. All these factors hint at the call back of the launch of the Honda HR-V, meanwhile, the company is focusing on the launch of the fifth-generation Honda City scheduled for 2020.

Amidst the downfall in sales for the majority of automakers in India, Maruti Suzuki is the one on a launching spree. In addition to the much-anticipated XL6 MPV that will be launched in India in a few days, the brand will also be introducing its entry-level micro SUV by the name S-Presso this festive season.

The micro SUV from the brand is based on the Future-S concept which was initially unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo. The production version of the S-Presso has been spotted testing several times over the past few days. The recently leaked pictures give us a clear view of the rear and front profile of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso.

The all-new offering from the brand will feature an SUV-inspired design language while it will be placed above the Maruti WagonR in the brand’s portfolio. The S-Presso will be sold via the Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships.

Specifically designed keeping in mind the needs of the Indian roads, the upcoming car is the second vehicle after Vitara Brezza that has been designed and developed by the Indian arm of the brand. Though the test vehicle is heavily camouflaged in the spy photos, one can easily recognise the premium LED treatment offered to the headlights and tail lights. The LED headlamps will be accompanied by LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs).

In terms of interiors, there haven’t been any specific details revealed to date. One can expect Maruti to feature the car with a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will get a standard safety kit including the dual airbags at the front, seat belt reminders, rear parking sensors and more.

Coming to the engine specifications, the S-Presso is likely to get the 1.2-litre petrol engine that does duty on the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. The brand will be launching the micro SUV with a BS6-compliant engine. The S-Presso is likely to be based on Maruti’s HEARTECT platform, which will help the micro SUV get a lightweight profile, further being perfect for the youngsters. Once launched in India, the Maruti S-Presso will be competing in the market with the likes of Renault Triber and Mahindra KUV100 NXT.

CFMoto is all set to launch an exclusive range of ATVs in India via their Indian partner AMW. Considering that the All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) is a big hit in the Indian market, the brand plans on setting their foothold in the ATV sector as well.

According to the reports, the upcoming ATVs by CFMoto will be specifically manufactured locally to save on the import duties and taxes. The Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer, CFMoto recently debuted its entry in India with four new motorcycles namely 300NK, 650NK, 650GT, and the 650MT. It is also one of the biggest firms to have an impressive market share in the ATV segment across various countries.

The local manufacturing of the products will help the brand price the ATVs aggressively and make them affordable among several buyers. At present, all the ATVs available in India are imported from other countries which make them out of the reach of the regular audience.

As of now, there is no confirmation on the range of ATVs the brand is planning to bring to India though one can expect the brand to start from its entry-level products that range between 400-500cc of displacement.

The entry-level CForce 450 is powered by 400cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine while the bigger displacement CForce 550 is powered by 495cc single-cylinder motor. In addition to these, the brand also plans on bringing the CForce 520 in the Indian market though it offers lesser power output when compared to the CForce 550. The brand even has a 1000cc ATV model in its portfolio, known as CForce 1000.

The Chinese manufacturer plans on selling its ATVs across its several motorcycle showrooms in India to reach a wider audience as well as for the better promotion of its products. The pricing for the upcoming ATVs will be decided after the company completes the survey of the Indian ATV market. As per the rumours, the brand plans on launching its ATVs in early 2020 though, no official confirmation has surfaced yet.

The buyers will get Flipkart’s ‘Complete Mobile Protection’ worth INR 3,999 for just INR 99. The phone is available in 2 colours: Midnight Black and Twilight Silver. ASUS has renamed the ZenFone 6 to 6Z for the Indian market.

Delhi High Court has banned ASUS for using the terms Zen and ZenFone for its products in India. The brand is not allowed to use these names anymore for its smartphones or other products for six weeks (May 28-July 23, 2019). The high court has made this decision in accordance with the lawsuit filed by Telecare Network India Pvt Ltd against ASUS Technology Pvt Ltd.

TNIPL claims to own the trademark for the name Zena and Zen Mobile that are being used for their feature phones, smartphones, tablets, and other related accessories. The brand has been the prior user of these names from 2008 and the High Court has given the verdict in their favour.

According to the reports, both the brands were using almost identical names for their lineup, and they have also got a similar price range as well as the same portfolio. Zen Mobile has been known to offer mobile phones since 2008 and had Amitabh Bachchan as their brand Ambassador while the ASUS started selling their smartphones under the ZenFone name in 2014.
