Bajaj Pulsar RS400 to Get New Dominar’s Engine: Bajaj Auto is here with a new 373.3cc DOHC engine that uses triple spark technology, in house developed ECU and different gearing than the one seen on the last-gen Dominar. The updated engine is performing under the 2019 Dominar nameplate and brings almost 40 HP of maximum power. Bajaj Auto is losing a big share from the commuter-centric market and they are preparing to gain almost 3-4% from the Indian market through a different level of products in the coming months.

Bajaj Pulsar RS400
Bajaj Pulsar RS400 to Get New Dominar’s DOHC Engine

Bajaj Pulsar RS400, the worthy performance upgrade to RS200, has the highest chances of getting this new powertrain as Avenger 400 would not be tuned to a higher spec version than Dominar 400. The trend has been always visible among Bajaj Pulsar 220F and Avenger 220 Cruise.

If Bajaj doesn’t want TVS to enjoy a chunk of premium bike sale through the Apache RR 310, a product like Pulsar RS400 is the best bet within this segment. Presently, Dominar 400 is the flagship product for Bajaj Auto. The 2019 model of Dominar is expected to be priced around INR 1.80 lakh while the Pulsar RS400 could arrive at around INR 2 lakh. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.

2019 Bajaj Dominar
2019 Bajaj Dominar

Being a worthy product, the Dominar still could not eat into the huge 50,000+ units monthly sales figure of Royal Enfield Classic 350. The on-road price tag of around INR 1.80 lakh is the benchmark for five digit sales as no other product around this price tag (except RE Bullet) has entered the five-digit club.

The entry of the Pulsar RS400 will again ignite the hope of Bajaj Auto for getting some share out of this future friendly performance sports bike segment. Bajaj unveiled the Pulsar SS400 concept in 2014 but unfortunately, it didn’t make into production. Let’s hope Bajaj launches the Pulsar RS400 this year to compete with the likes of TVS Apache RR 310 and the Honda CBR250R.

2019 Harley-Davidson 48 Special has been launched in the country for INR 10.98 lakh. The price tag is applicable to the vivid black shade as the most expensive custom shade variant costs INR 11.52 lakh. Both the prices are ex-showroom and remains the same all over India. The first difference that die-hard Harley fans will notice is the use of ape-hanger handlebar on the model while after that, the exhaust cover finish claims the second point.

2019 Harley-Davidson 48 Special
2019 Harley-Davidson 48 Special Launched in India @ INR 10.98 Lakh

Not just that, the engine bay now flaunts more chrome than ever on the Special model. The iconic fuel tank stays alive, offering just 7.9-litres of fuel carrying capacity on both the regular as well as Special variant. The price difference between both the models is INR 40,000 and thus, seems justified for these small yet highly visible changes.

The new handlebar will completely change the sitting posture of the rider, making the new Forty-Eight Special more comfortable than the regular model. The beefy tires and single seat attitude of the motorcycle remain intact here. The 1202cc, V-twin engine on the motorcycle is good for 97 Nm at 4250 rpm, clearing the fact that cruising effortlessly over the streets is done in the most stylish possible manner.

The motorcycle weighs 252 kg and comes with 130/90-16 front and 150/80-16 rear tire. The alloy wheel design also remains similar between both the variants. Harley Davidson offers four variants with the same 1202cc engine in the Sportster range while Iron 883 is the only one to bring the 883cc engine to the lineup.

2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special

Soon, the brand will launch the Iron 1200 in India and may remove the smaller engine as it is serving under just one model. The launch frame for the same has not yet been disclosed. Along with the New Forty-Eight Special, Harley-Davidson also launched the updated 2019 model of Street Glide Special with a starting price tag of INR 30.53 lakh (ex-showroom).

Suzuki has officially unveiled the pricing of the 2019 Katana 1000, leaving no stone unturned in its placement and unique design lines. The model costs £11,399 (INR 10.54 lakh approx, direct conversion) in the UK market. The brand officially unveiled the production version of the Katana 1000 last year at the INTERMOT 2018.

Rodolfo Frascoli, the man behind various Moto Guzzi designs, has worked on the design from the first day. The semi-faired design is quite unique from all other available models around the segment. As Kawasaki also retails Z900RS in most markets, one can firmly believe that the trend for retro modern machines is coming back fast for 2019 models. The front now comes with a different fascia than the concept model, adopting a square headlight and more prominent tank scoops.

The cafe racer-inspired rear look of the bike is cool to consider as Katana also flaunts a short rear end for styling reasons. Although Kawasaki Z900RS is quite vintage looking, Katana is pretty modern with sharp design lines around the front area. The huge front and rear tire, along with reasonably comfortable suspension, is shared with the Suzuki GSX-S1000F. The powerful engine used here is good for 150HP of maximum power and 106 NM of maximum torque. The bike weighs just 215kg.

The engine performs well in the high rpm range and thus, buyers can enjoy sports bike style riding with tourer friendly seating position on the new Suzuki Katana 1000. The retro-modern design lines are further supported by the clean exhaust system and powerful electronic features like traction control, low rpm assist and independent rear tire hugger. The motorcycle is available in the United Kingdom in 2 shades: Metallic Mystic Silver and Glass Sparkle Black. It is expected that Suzuki will launch the Katana 1000 in India by the end of this year.

Honda CB190SS has been officially unveiled for the Chinese market. The retro-modern model is based partially on the Neo Cafe concept design lines, getting familiar curves on the fuel tank and visible fuel tank extensions that add muscle to the front end design. The tires carry dual purpose pattern while spoke wheels on the motorcycle looks great and serves the purpose well for those who prefer riding within the city limits. The 184cc, single cylinder engine on the motorcycle is good for 16.8 HP and 16.3 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and features fuel injection for refined power delivery for the rider. The same engine is available under different body styles in China.

The front of the new Honda CB190SS comes with USD front forks with the black outer casing, decently-designed fenders, single disc brake at both the ends and dual-pod instrument console. The front and rear LED indicators, along with the primary LED headlight with impressive daytime running lights pattern is power efficient, practical and design-enhancing for the motorcycle. The seat comes with a brown cover with visible high levels of cushioning, especially for the pillion part. The rear view mirrors are black and circular while exhaust comes with a metallic finish.

The refined 184cc engine is specific to certain markets and bringing the same to India can be a profitable move for the brand. They are competing in the 150cc segment and straight after that, the CBR250R arrives in India. The 200cc segment is dominated by TVS, Bajaj, KTM, and Hero with a limited number of products. The availability of an adventure tourer, streetfighter and retro-modern motorcycle in Honda China lineup can even save the cost of research for a couple of products in the 200cc segment. Honda recently brought the CB300R in India, clearing the fact that they can experiment with any segment by bringing some performance-specific international lineup products.

As already confirmed, the Yamaha MT-15 ABS will launch in India on March 15, 2019. It has replaced both M-Slaz and Xabre 150 from the respective international markets and the upgraded design flaunts the premium equipment with pride to the fans worldwide. Yamaha is simplifying its nomenclature, picking up familiar names for all markets and using identical designs for multiple continents to save the additional design cost. The new Yamaha MT-15 comes with typical street bike headlight, highly inspired by MT-09 and carrying an additional projector headlight housing under the design. The Deltabox frame is visible clearly under the sharp body panels. The front forks used on the Indian version are the same as Yamaha R15 V3.

Yamaha is using a familiar tail section on the MT-15, sharing the winglets that were first seen on the litre-class R1 in the company lineup. Being a streetfighter, the motorcycle comes with sharp fuel tank extensions, impressive knee supporting fuel tank design and compact seat design with lighter than ever tail section. In Thailand, the Yamaha MT-15 costs 98,500 Thai Baht (INR 2.25 lakh, approximate) and brings loads of upgraded equipment like the new all-digital console with a dark theme, USD front forks, premium tire combination and not to forget, the highly influencing design language. However, the Indian version will be seen without the USD forks, aluminium swingarm, and painted alloy wheels.

The motorcycle uses the same exhaust setup as R15 V3 and 155.1cc, single cylinder unit with VVA, producing 19.3 HP and 14.7 Nm of torque. As the Indian market has made ABS mandatory for new products, getting MT-15 at INR 1.29 lakh is the most obvious guess. R15 V3 has moved to a higher INR 1.39 lakh price tag. If Yamaha plans to bring more fun into the market, introducing the MT-15 ABS at INR 1.19 lakh can prove fatal to other bikes like Pulsar NS200, Apache RTR200 and Duke 125. Yamaha has already launched the economy-loving FZ V3 in India for INR 95,000 (ex-showroom).

The post 7 Must-Know Facts About the Upcoming Honda CBR650R appeared first on Maxabout News.

]]>
Honda CBR650R was one among the amazing machines displayed at the EICMA 2018. Based on the India-spec CBR650F, the motorcycle has been officially listed on the Honda India website. The updated model is expected to carry an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 8 lakh in India. The list of differences is huge this time, enhancing the visual as well as riding nature of the motorcycle. Here are seven must-know facts for the 2019 Honda CBR650R.

7 Must-Know Facts About Honda CBR650R

1) Twin Headlight Design

The twin headlight design is inspired by the litre-class CBR1000RR, leaving behind the old single headlight design that looked more like a faired version of some street machine. The face offers bubble visor, impressive three-tone finish and twin LED headlight design on the motorcycle. The headlights are paired with two air intakes.

2) R Moniker

The R moniker used here makes CBR650R the most valuable machine at its price point. The same underpinnings were earlier sold under the F moniker that generally brings faired versions of street machines from Honda. The added performance bits into the motorcycle proves the R legacy with pride.

3) Minimal Fairing

The reduction in fairing is one more point to be noted on the new CBR650R. The engine is almost visible, showing how neatly Honda connected the fairing with the headlight area to maximize air-flow into the heated section. The heat escapes the area with ease and brings better performance on the track.

4) Aggressive Riding Position

Honda has made several notable changes to the sitting position of the rider on the new CBR650R. The handlebar is now lower-placed while footpegs are a bit rear mounted, resulting in an aggressive riding position. The angle is strict in comparison to the regular bikes but mild when compared to a proper track bike.

5) Smart Exhaust

The four-into-one exhaust system on the CBR650R is smarter than all others available in this segment. The unit is short, well placed and looks perfect on a 650cc bike. The use of under-seat or full-sized exhaust could have ended the exclusivity factor for Honda CBR650R.

6) Improved Engine Response

Honda claims better engine response between idle and 8000 rpm for the CBR650R. It comes with an inline-4 motor, producing 5% of more power than the existing model with F moniker. The reduction in weight results in 6 kg lighter motorcycle, helping improve the power-to-weight ratio by 8%.

7) Modern Console

The old console from CBR650F makes way for this coloured LCD on the CBR650R. The unit now comes with gear position indicator, gear upshift indicator, rpm peak-hold display and engine temperature indicator.

Honda CBR400R vs Kawasaki Ninja 400 (Detailed Comparison): Kawasaki Ninja 400 is now available in India for INR 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The price shocked everyone as most buyers were expecting this to stay around INR 4 lakh. Still, those who had a first sight crush with this motorcycle can buy one by placing an order with Kawasaki. No direct rival to this motorcycle exists in India. KTM RC 390 is a single cylinder sports bike while Benelli 302R is too underpowered and Yamaha R3 lacks that added displacement value. The closest possible rival to Ninja 400 is Honda CBR400R and undoubtedly, the 2019 variant looks extremely good.

As Honda retails CBR250R and lists CBR650R in India, it won’t be hard for them to bridge the huge gap by bringing CBR400R in the coming months. Expected to be priced around INR 4.50 lakh, Honda CBR400R is the closest possible rival for Ninja 400. Not just by engine values, the popularity of the CBR series can also bring shocks to Kawasaki. Honda is clearly ahead in terms of dealership network and that could initially bring big numbers for the brand. Honda CBR400R is powered by a 399cc, twin cylinder engine producing 46 HP at 9000 rpm and 38 Nm at 7500 rpm.

Ninja 400 also comes with a 399cc, twin cylinder engine producing 49 HP at 10,000 rpm and 38 Nm at 8000 rpm. Honda CBR400R weighs 192 kg while Ninja 400 is lightweight at just 173 kg. As Ninja 400 shifted to the new-gen lightweight platform, it lost a lot of weight. Earlier, it was based on the same frame as 2015 Ninja 650. Honda CBR400R still comes based on the bigger bike platform and uses massive 120/160 section front/rear ZR spec tyres. CBR400R supports long 1410 mm of wheelbase for improved highway fun. Ninja 400, on the other hand, takes the track by its side with the benefits.

Benelli 502C cruiser was one among many potential products of 2018 Thai Motor Expo, showing a huge amount of potential for the Indian market at that time. A recent report has confirmed that the motorcycle will launch in India in 2019. The styling is shared with Benelli 402 cruiser that was first seen at EICMA 2017. The design lines are inspired from Ducati xDiavel while power comes from a familiar 500cc, parallel-twin engine, producing 46.9 HP of maximum power at 8500 rpm with maximum torque of 45 NM @ 5000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Benelli claims a top speed of 160 kph for the cruiser. The niche performance brand is planning to enter the middleweight segment through the twin cylinder product.

The front comes with an impressive LED headlight, looking flat from the side and matching with the gloss finished black visible frame of the motorcycle. The USD forks are shared with other Benelli products while short yet sharp fender looks amazing on its profile. The front comes with dual disc brakes with ABS while rear shows unique exhaust design on the 502C. The majority of bulk is situated around the fuel tank as the rear end comes with shorter than ever tail section and an independent tire hugger. The seat seems practical for a single rider only. The stance is worth-praising for sure. The Benelli 502C has a fuel tank capacity of 21 litres, and the kerb weight stands at 217kg.

The forward set foot-pegs guarantee a good level of comfort for the rider on the highway. Benelli will use an all-digital console with LED lights for different indications. The handlebar stays casual and offers an impressive sitting position. The rear view mirrors are uniquely designed for a cruiser. Benelli entered India again through their collaboration with Mahavir group. The list of products listed currently includes TRK 502, TRK 502X, TNT300, TNT600i, and 302R. Upcoming products from Benelli include 302S, 402, and 502C, along with Leoncino Scrambler with different engine sizes.

KTM RC 250 is still a dream for many aspiring riders of India. The motorcycle belongs to the most popular RC SuperSport series of KTM and thus, performance runs heavily in each of its body parts. Powered by the same engine as recently introduced KTM 250 Duke, RC can successfully bridge the gap between RC 200 and RC 390. Here are 5 reasons why KTM should launch the New RC 250 in India.

KTM RC 250 with side exhaust
KTM RC 250 with under-belly exhaust

5 Reasons Why KTM RC 250 Should be Launched in India

1) Excellence in Performance: KTM RC 250 is powered by a 248.8 cc, single cylinder engine producing 30 HP at 9000 rpm and 24 Nm at 7500 rpm. This makes it the most powerful quarter-litre sports bike for India. Honda CBR250R and Yamaha Fazer 25 are both touring focused, making RC 250 the dream option for those who wish for a quarter-litre track racer. KTM RC 250 will also be equipped with 2-channel ABS.

2) Premium Orange Finish: RC 250 was recently updated in both Indonesia and Malaysia. The bike now comes with the same side exhaust and Orange shade as RC 125 for the European market. This combination of White and Orange is still not available on any variant in India. The same shade can help KTM sell more units for RC series. Placement of RC 250 would be such that it does not get an ex-showroom price closer to the Apache RR 310.

3) Locally Manufactured: KTM manufactures RC 125, 200, 250 and 390 in India. The same is true for all four Duke models. Since KTM has no reason to justify the placement of 125cc RC motorcycle in India, RC 250 is most likely the next big thing that could launch in India. It would have even felt impossible if KTM 250 Duke was not available for INR 1.81 lakh.

4) Perfect Expected Price Point: As KTM 200 Duke and 250 Duke had a large number of differences, they still have a price difference of approx INR 30,000. When it comes to RC 200 and RC 250, the only major difference is a bigger engine. KTM can launch RC 250 for INR 2.10 lakh in India. This will even maintain a good difference with RC 390 due to a large number of additions in the flagship racer.

5) Premium Components: KTM RC 250 comes with features like front USD forks, race spec chassis, side exhaust and same full digital console as RC 390. The track-focused frame on the motorcycle offers a very confident riding position, 10-litre fuel tank and clip-on handlebars for sharp handling. The RC 250 is expected to share almost every part with the RC 200 and will add 2-channel ABS to the package, as the RC 200 comes with single-channel ABS in India.

KTM RC 250 Key Specs

  • Displacement: 248.8 cc
  • Maximum Power: 30 HP @ 9000 rpm
  • Maximum Torque: 24 NM @ 7500 rpm
  • No. of Cylinders: 1
  • No. of Gears: 6
  • Seat Height: 820 mm
  • Ground Clearance: 178.5 mm
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 10 litres
  • Top Speed: 165 kmph (Approx.)

*KTM also sells RC 250 with under-belly exhaust in some of the countries.
