Revolt RV400 is the first bike to feature AI-powered electric powertrain in India, starting an era of modern designing, connectivity, and efficiency under a single brand name. The motorcycle comes with certain segment-first features, leaving not even the sound that comes from the exhaust without any visible signs of the smoke-emitting part.

The sync between the accelerator and exhaust sound is so pure that every rev of the throttle brings this exclusive experience alive on the RV400. The silent nature of electric motorcycles may put some threat to their existence in the world where enthusiasts love sounds from their exhaust more than anything else on the road.

Revolt offers an application for the smartphone that acts as the basic controller of the RV400. The sound section on the application comes with different pre-loaded sounds namely Revolt, Roar, Rage, and Rebel. It offers a unique exhaust sound with every single touch on the display of your smartphone. These sounds resemble different outputs as one can be seen matching to a four-cylinder superbike while others bringing the two-stroke experience alive.

The Revolt sound is slightly basic while the fourth option is the loudest of all with a custom exhaust feel. However, the options are not just limited to these only. The Revolt RV400 owners can also download more sounds to be used as the exhaust note while only those available from the official sources will have the sync feature.

The feature works in real-time as the rider will not even need a restart of the application or start-stop the motor before applying the next sound. The unique exhaust sound feature is a great addition but for those who are looking into peaceful riding, all the sounds can be turned off easily from the handlebar.

Revolt RV400 is expected to arrive with a price tag of around INR 1.10-1.20 lakh in India. The bookings for the motorcycle will open from June 25 with a token amount of INR 1000. You can pre-book the RV400 on the official website of Revolt Motors and on Amazon as well. The deliveries of the e-bike are expected to begin from the last week of July.

TVS Motor is working on 2 new motorcycles based on the Zeppelin Cruiser for the Indian market. Both these bikes will be based on the 220cc concept, which was unveiled at the Auto Expo in February 2018. The production version is expected to be unveiled by the end of 2019 or at the next Auto Expo in February 2020. Yes, you read it right, the Zeppelin-based cruiser motorcycle is just a few months away from the unveiling.

It would have taken this much time for the brand to test the product thoroughly and launch it in two different designs. Both will carry the all-new 220cc single cylinder engine showcased under the Zeppelin concept. The engine segment rivals none other than Avenger 220 series while the use of premium equipment could place it closer to the price segment of the Royal Enfield Classic 350.

One version may carry a normal engine while another version can feature the hybrid setup. Another rival for these new products will come from UM in the form of new Duty 230. As all these products are conventional petrol-powered cruisers, motorcycles based on Zeppelin are expected to carry an integrated starter generator equipped engine for saving fuel while idling.

Belt drive may not be on offer at production as it will raise the cost of Zeppelin based products by a large margin. Most probably TVS will manufacture a dark themed and a chrome-laden version to cater to the needs of both types of buyers. The Zeppelin cruiser could feature options like backrest and alloy wheels for both the versions.

Electric assist option is of great use in adding more power to the engine through power use from a battery. TVS is presently the most innovation-friendly brand of India as they promise a product every year and display a mouth-watering concept at every Auto Expo.

Zeppelin 220 concept was showcased with LED lights, USD forks and many more features that could be missed for an effective segment placement. If they wish to retain all this, the price will fall around bigger Jawa motorcycles. Still, TVS Zeppelin will prove its worth as every other TVS product.

Ducati Hypermotard 950 has been launched in India for INR 11,99,000. The price is ex-showroom and remains the same all across the country. The supermoto category motorcycle is fun-filled and not just that, it is a few ranks higher on the chart when compared to the old Hypermotard 939. The motorcycle is powered by a familiar 937cc, twin cylinder engine, producing 114 HP of maximum power at 9000 rpm and 96 Nm at 7250 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The seat height is much higher than usual at 870mm but still, the narrow profile helps easy foot placement for sure.

The new Ducati Hypermotard 950 is 4HP more powerful, uses premium components and offers so much in just 178 kg of dry weight. The overall power-to-weight ratio is eye-popping as the motorcycle is typically a rally-based product that now uses road legal tires and can be practically ridden anywhere. Unlike heavy touring machines, this one comes without the huge front fascia and thus, long rides may not be as cool as assumed by most riders. However, the long travel suspension and flat seat make sure that nothing can stop you from feeling the high-speed urban thrill anytime and anywhere.

The motorcycle is available with Bosch cornering ABS for added safety, Marzocchi 45mm front USD forks, Sachs monoshock, and 320mm front brakes. The overall weight is down by 4 kg from the last-gen Hypermotard. Aprilia is the only brand that offers a relatively familiar supermoto machine in India but lack of dealerships and their focus on mass-market products make Hypermotard an exclusive option. The instrument console now comes with a 4.3-inch display with all the modern reading embedded into it. Unlike regular bikes, this motorcycle clearly screams exclusivity out of the dual-tone body.

The new Jawa motorcycles are nothing less than a sensation for the Indian market. The buyers who love retro-modern machines, now have two more options to consider at a price point that not even a single buyer expected from the Mahindra-owned brand. Here is a list of pros and cons for the Jawa Forty-Two and Jawa Classic 300 in India.

Jawa Classic 300/Jawa 42 Pros & Cons

Pros of New Jawa motorcycles

1) Looks and Style: The iconic Jawa design with a flat seat, raised headlight section and a retro-modern appeal, is back in India. The Jawa 300 is available with loads of chrome and complete headlight assembly while Jawa 42 features bright attractive shades and Scrambler-inspired built.

2) Refined BS6-Ready Engine: The 293cc, single-cylinder engine with standard liquid-cooling and fuel injection is ready for the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This not just means impressive ride quality but also results in lesser than usual emission of harmful gases for a cleaner environment.

Dual Chrome-Finish Exhausts

3) Dual Exhausts: The new Jawa motorcycles are using two dedicated exhaust exits from the engine section. The duo brings impressive design balance for the motorcycles, making the left section feel equally bulky in comparison to the right side of both the products.

4) Loads of Power and Torque: The 293cc engine is good for 27 HP of maximum power and 28 Nm of maximum torque. The power value is almost 7 HP more in comparison to Classic 350 while torque is exactly identical for both the bikes. The rpm range is not yet official for both Jawa bikes.

5) Retro-Modern Console: The single pod console is highly inspired by retro units seen on vintage bikes. The needle starts from an unconventional point. However, the use of the digital screen for odometer reading adds a modern touch into the perfectly-finished instrument console.

Jawa 42 Console
Jawa 300 Console

6) Lightweight: The new Jawa motorcycles weigh 170 kg, keeping them 22 kg lighter than nearest rival Royal Enfield Classic 350. The difference is further equated to 7 HP of more power and results are fabulous for the duo. They even look lean in comparison to their arch rival. Click here for a detailed comparison of Jawa 300 with Classic 350.

7) Excellent Value for Money: Jawa 42 is available for INR 1.55 lakh while Jawa 300 costs INR 1.64 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Both the bikes are available in a single variant and thus, no extra charge for shades is applied. The tags offer unbeatable value for money for a 300cc segment bike in India.

8) Attractive Shades: Jawa 300 can be had in Jawa Maroon, Jawa Grey and Jawa Black shade while 42 is available in Galactic Green, Halley’s Teal, Lumos Lime, Starlight Blue, Comet Red and Nebula Blue shade. The first four shades for Jawa 42 are exclusively matte-finished.

Jawa 300

9) Optional Rear Disc Brake: The option of a rear disc brake made these bikes even more impressive than ever. As Royal Enfield has a rear disc brake on all models, Jawa 300 and 42 are now better in terms of value for their equipment offered in India.

10) Optional Dual-Channel ABS: The front brakes are available with ABS on both the bikes while the rear uses an optional disc brake setup with ABS for INR 9000. The retro appeal of the motorcycle is still unmatched but safety is highly prioritised by the buyers and thus, bookings for the dual channel variant will rise with time.

Jawa 42

Cons of New Jawa motorcycles

1) Limited Dealerships: Jawa dealerships are limited in number when compared to the rival Royal Enfield. The difference in presence will definitely reduce their reach among prospective buyers as people prefer the easy availability of service centre and spare parts in the country.

2) No Kick Start Option: Royal Enfield bikes are available with a kick-starter while Jawa missed this option on both the bikes. The vintage feel associated with these bikes gets lowered with a missing kick. Most modern bikes are available without a kick-starter these days.

KTM RC 250 is still a dream for many aspiring riders of India. The motorcycle belongs to the most popular RC SuperSport series of KTM and thus, performance runs heavily in each of its body parts. Powered by the same engine as the 250 Duke, RC can successfully bridge the gap between RC 200 and the RC 390. Here are 5 reasons why KTM should launch the New RC 250 in India.

KTM RC 250 with side exhaust
KTM RC 250 with under-belly exhaust

5 Reasons Why KTM RC 250 Should be Launched in India

1) Excellence in Performance: KTM RC 250 is powered by a 248.8 cc, single cylinder engine producing 30 HP at 9000 rpm and 24 Nm at 7500 rpm. This makes it the most powerful quarter-litre sports bike for India. Honda CBR250R and Yamaha Fazer 25 are both touring focused, making RC 250 the dream option for those who wish for a quarter-litre track racer. KTM RC 250 will also be equipped with 2-channel ABS as standard like the rest of the motorcycles of its class. Suzuki recently also entered the 250cc full-faired segment with the launch of the Gixxer SF 250 at INR 1.71 lakh (ex-showroom).

2) Premium Orange Finish: RC 250 was recently updated in both Indonesia and Malaysia. The bike now comes with the same side exhaust and Orange shade as RC 125 for the European market. This combination of White and Orange is still not available on any variant in India. The same shade can help KTM sell more units for RC series.

3) Locally Manufactured: KTM manufactures RC 125, 200, 250 and 390 in India. The same is true for all four Duke models. The brand is also planning to launch the 125cc RC motorcycle in India in the coming weeks, and after the launch of RC 125, the RC 250 would be most likely the next big thing that could launch in India.

4) Perfect Expected Price Point: As KTM 200 Duke and 250 Duke have a large number of differences, they still have a price difference of approx INR 35,000. When it comes to RC 200 and the RC 250, the only major difference is a bigger engine. KTM can launch the RC 250 for around INR 2.20 lakh in India. This will even maintain a good difference with the RC 390 due to a large number of additions in the flagship racer.

5) Premium Components: KTM RC 250 comes with features like front USD forks, race spec chassis, side exhaust and same full digital console as RC 390. The track-focused frame on the motorcycle offers a very confident riding position, 10-litre fuel tank and clip-on handlebars for sharp handling. The RC 250 is expected to share almost every part with the RC 200 and will add 2-channel ABS to the package, as the RC 200 comes with single-channel ABS in India.

KTM RC 250 Key Specs

  • Displacement: 248.8 cc
  • Maximum Power: 30 HP @ 9000 rpm
  • Maximum Torque: 24 NM @ 7500 rpm
  • No. of Cylinders: 1
  • No. of Gears: 6
  • Seat Height: 820 mm
  • Ground Clearance: 178.5 mm
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 10 litres
  • Top Speed: 165 kmph (Approx.)

Bajaj Pulsar RS400 to Get New Dominar’s Engine: Bajaj Auto is here with a new 373.3cc DOHC engine that uses triple spark technology, in house developed ECU and different gearing than the one seen on the last-gen Dominar. The updated engine is performing under the 2019 Dominar nameplate and brings 40 HP of maximum power. Bajaj Auto is losing a big share from the commuter-centric market and they are preparing to gain almost 3-4% from the Indian market through a different level of products in the coming months.

Bajaj Pulsar RS400
Bajaj Pulsar RS400 to Get New Dominar’s DOHC Engine

Bajaj Pulsar RS400, the worthy performance upgrade to RS200, has the highest chances of getting this new powertrain as Avenger 400 would not be tuned to a higher spec version than Dominar 400. The trend has been always visible among Bajaj Pulsar 220F and the Avenger 220 Cruise.

If Bajaj doesn’t want TVS to enjoy a chunk of premium bike sale through the Apache RR 310, a product like Pulsar RS400 is the best bet within this segment. Presently, Dominar 400 is the flagship product for Bajaj Auto. The 2019 model of Dominar 400 is available with a price tag of INR 1.74 lakh while the Pulsar RS400 could arrive at around INR 2 lakh. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.

2019 Bajaj Dominar
2019 Bajaj Dominar

Being a worthy product, the Dominar still could not eat into the huge 50,000+ units monthly sales figure of Royal Enfield Classic 350. The on-road price tag of around INR 1.80 lakh is the benchmark for five digit sales as no other product around this price tag (except RE Bullet) has entered the five-digit club.

The entry of the Pulsar RS400 will again ignite the hope of Bajaj Auto for getting some share out of this future friendly performance sports bike segment. Bajaj unveiled the Pulsar SS400 concept in 2014 but unfortunately, it didn’t make into production. Let’s hope Bajaj launches the Pulsar RS400 this year to compete with the likes of TVS Apache RR 310 and the Honda CBR250R.

In December 2017, the TVS Apache RR310 was launched in India for INR 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Later in the year 2018, the brand increased the price of the motorcycle to INR 2.24 lakh. On May 27, 2019, the sportbike finally got a slipper clutch and is now available with a price tag of INR 2.27 lakh. TVS Motor has also replaced the matte black colour option with an all-new gloss black shade known as ‘Phantom Black’. Here are 10 quick facts about the 2019 model of the TVS Apache RR 310.

10 Quick Facts About 2019 TVS Apache RR310

1) Priced at INR 2.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), Apache RR 310 is the most expensive motorcycle ever launched by TVS Motor. As always, they have kept the benchmarks high in terms of performance and equipment.

2) The Apache RR 310 is the most powerful motorcycle in the Apache lineup. The 312.2cc, single cylinder engine is good for 34 HP at 9500 rpm and 27.3 Nm at 7700 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

3) Real world specs are pretty amazing as RR 310 takes just 7.17 seconds for 0-100 kmph sprint. The top speed is impressive at 160 kmph while city sprints to 60 kmph take just 2.93 seconds from a standstill. Mileage is expected to stay around INR 25-30 kmpl in real-world road conditions.

4) Initially, the Apache RR 310 was not equipped with a slipper clutch. For the MY2019, TVS Motor has equipped the motorcycle with a race-tune slipper clutch. The equipment will help riders enjoy easy upshifts in an effortless manner. Not just that, the most beneficial effect of the slipper clutch is experienced once the rider downshifts during cornering on the track.

5) TVS is manufacturing the BMW G310R in India and positively, they do share exactly the same engine with Apache RR310. Additional weight comes through the fairing and that is balanced by better aerodynamics.

6) TVS offers Michelin tyres as standard on Apache RR 310. These are extra sticky pair of shoes for the newcomer as it needs to take on a rival that also comes with a feature-loaded approach for the Indian market.

7) Dual channel ABS from Continental is available as stock on the motorcycle. This guarantees safe braking on wet roads and even helps rider prevent tyre shredding by regular wheel lockups.

8) Kayaba is providing suspension solutions on the Apache RR 310. The track-tuned USD forks are pretty impressive. Rear monoshock is adjustable and suits the overall personality with its white profile.

9) Bi-LED projectors lights and all-digital instrument console further makes this package a mouth-watering one in this segment. The vertical unit looks beautiful and comes with loads of information.

10) At INR 2.27 lakh, the Apache RR 310 rivals none other than KTM RC 390 in its segment. The RC 390 is priced INR 17,000 higher at INR 2.44 lakh and comes with more power, slipper clutch, and ride-by-wire. Still, Apache looks more impressive and offers practical performance in comparison.

As everyone is familiar with the start of a brand partnership era, Bajaj Auto and Triumph are working on a motorcycle that is expected to fall right into the category of the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. As per the latest details available, the Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle is expected to launch in early 2020.

Benefits from the new product will vary for both the manufacturers as Triumph will get affordable manufacturing while Bajaj may get their hands on the higher capacity engine for their future projects.

Currently, the most affordable Triumph motorcycle in India is the Street Twin at INR 7.45 lakh. Bajaj Auto, on the other hand, restricts its motorcycle range to wide range of audience till INR 1.74 lakh. They also manufacture KTM products ranging till INR 2.48 lakh but retail them under a totally separate performance moniker.

As Bajaj Auto partnered KTM and helped them become the number one sport bike seller of its segment, Triumph expects the same magic in a much bigger engine segment than KTM. They are better known for their powerful street performance motorcycles and most probably, would use Bajaj’s experience in manufacturing a product at a much lower cost than Triumph’s present lineup.

Triumph’s modern classic range will see a fresh face in the coming months and that would be successfully exported to all existing markets of the British manufacturer. If presently surfacing reports are to be believed, the Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle would be priced around INR 4-5 lakh (ex-showroom).

Bajaj-Triumph will first bring a 2-cylinder product around 600-650cc segment and then they will enter the single cylinder segment at a later stage. Bajaj and Triumph have not hinted about an official unveil date but we expect to see a new camouflaged machine running on the Indian roads soon for sure.
