GST Car Discounts - Heavy Price Cut on Popular Brands in India
GST has once again created a storm in the Indian automobile market. The show may not be as fascinating as BS3-BS4 discounts but still, those who missed that chance could enjoy a drop in prices and buy their dream vehicles in next 15 days.
Implementation of GST will bring a change in price of almost all products related to automotive industry. Cars, to be more specific, will get a more noticeable change as compared to motorcycles in our country. The breakup of taxes indicated minimal change in the pricing of small cars while SUVs and luxury cars saw a drop in overall tax rates.
The current discounts on offer are of two types. First is the one given by all major brands namely Hyundai, Maruti, Honda, Mahindra and others of the same segment. This includes drop in prices because they wish to clear the stock before a change in taxation comes and they have to recalculate everything that's left on their side.
As chances of drop in sales for the first month after GST are high, they will wish to sell more in June 2017 itself. Second type of price drop is seen for Mercedes, Audi, BMW and other luxury car manufacturers as they have given the prices that will continue from 1st July, 2017.
Maruti Suzuki is offering savings up to INR 57,500 on most of its cars. Straight discounts are falling between INR 25,000 to INR 35,000 while other benefits like exchange discount are also available.
Mahindra offers benefits of around INR 40,000 on KUV100, INR 36,000 on TUV300 and around INR 90,000 on XUV500. Hyundai India offers INR 25,000 discount on i20 Elite while Santa Fe can be bought with a discount of INR 2.5 lakh. Eon can be bought with INR 45,000 of discount till 30th June.
The everyday car brands will again take the prices back closer to the original prices as these discounts are valid for just 2 weeks. Luxury brands are passing the benefits permanently as they had bigger benefits with decrease in tax slabs.
Honda cars get INR 14,500 discount on Brio while INR 50,000 and INR 60,000 are being dropped from the prices of Amaze and BR-V. Honda is offering around INR 17,000 off the all-new Jazz premium hatchback.

The change in prices are also variant specific and the last price offered by the dealer would be valid in this case. Nissan Terrano offer INR 80,000 off while Micra can be bought with INR 25,000 of discount.
The luxury car segment saw a drop in price by up to 12 percent from ex-showroom price. The change in price of top spec models are even reaching more than INR 10 lakh for some of the models. Mercedes-Benz India has slashed the prices by up to INR 7 lakh.
