Suzuki to Expand Dealer Network; New Premium Bikes Coming to India

Amidst the declining overall sales when compared to the other major two-wheeler manufacturers in the Indian market, Suzuki has officially decided to expand its dealerships network while launching more new premium bikes in the country. Though the launch of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250 turned out to be one of the wisest steps from the brand to save itself from drowning, the brand still lags to register higher portions in the sales department. All the five motorcycles under the brand’s current portfolio are only capable of making only 10% of the brand’s overall volume which stands nowhere considering other major brands which feature multiple products in a single segment. Thus considering its lag of the motorcycle range, the brand has decided to expand its overall motorcycle portfolio which will, in turn, cater to at least 20% of its overall volumes for the Indian market. The reports also suggest that the brand will not foresee the commuter segment anymore and will focus more on the 150cc+ motorcycle segment to establish itself ahead of the competitors. Since the Suzuki Burgman and the Access 125 are two of the most cherished scooters from Suzuki for the Indian audience, the brand plans on keeping them in the portfolio while also launching new scooters with premium features. As per the reports, the brand will first cater to increase its overall two-wheeler sales with the expansion of the dealership network and will foray into the new launches at a later stage. Suzuki further expects the expansion to bring them major profits by recording almost 7.2 lakh units for the year 2020 while also plans to sell around 8 lakh units in the next fiscal year. The brand has recently showcased the Katana, a neo-retro motorcycle at the recently held Auto Expo 2020. In addition to Katana, Suzuki is expected to launch the SV650 and the all-new Intruder 250 premium bikes in India in the coming months.
