According to the latest buzz, the Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer, Royal Enfield is expected to launch three all-new bikes in India this year. All the upcoming motorcycles will be based on the recently devised “J Platform” that will be replacing the UCE-engine platform earlier used for the cruisers under the brand’s portfolio.

The first of the three is expected to be the 2020 Royal Enfield Classic that has been spotted multiple times testing on the Indian roads while features a host of appreciating updates setting it apart from the present-gen version. The updated motorcycle has been equipped with a revised taillight setup while the under-seat panel and the grab rail are also new. The brand has further equipped it with a new seat setup while the instrument panel has also been revised.

The second motorcycle that is expected to be launched this year is the Royal Enfield Meteor that will be launched as a renamed Thunderbird 2020 and features a different design language. The motorcycle has been equipped with a revised headlight and taillight setup while the instrument panel is also new. The Meteor is further expected to feature a 350cc BS6-compliant engine while the body panels have been offered an all-black outlook.

The last motorcycle to be launched by the Indian brand is the recently spotted all-new cruiser with aggressive styling. The motorcycle features a different design language as compared to all other motorcycles under the brand’s portfolio though the smaller height offered to it suggests that it might have been specifically designed for the women or young riders in the Indian market.

There has been no official confirmation received on the name tag of the upcoming 250cc motorcycle though it is expected to be either Royal Enfield Hunter or Roadster as the brand has recently filed trademarks for these two names. One can further expect the majority of new bikes from the brand to be unveiled sometime in the mid-2020.

According to recent reports, the most anticipated 2020 Thunderbird motorcycle is expected to be launched in India as Royal Enfield Meteor, that will impart it a unique identity. The motorcycle is expected to be launched in the coming months and will feature a BS6-compliant engine in addition to getting multiple cosmetic changes.

Since the motorcycle manufacturer has ensured a tough year in terms of the overall declining sales, the brand is currently focusing on expanding its reach to the customers while at the same time planning to launch interesting new products to get on the top of the game once again.

The test mules of the updated Thunderbird variant have been spotted multiple times testing on the Indian roads in different avatars though the touring accessories are expected to be offered as an option. If the recent reports turn out to be true, the upcoming Royal Enfield Meteor will be available in multiple versions just like the spotted test mules.

The brand has equipped the updated motorcycle with a chrome exhaust system in addition to offering saddle mounts as well as a large windscreen at the front. Apart from this, the brand will also offer multiple other premium accessories with its updated range.

Coming to the other cosmetic updates, the motorcycle has been equipped with a redesigned LED headlight and taillight unit while the side panels, as well as the fuel tank design, has also been tweaked. In addition to this, the motorcycle now gets a split seat setup while the single-pod semi-digital instrument console has replaced the twin-pod cluster available in the current-gen Thunderbird version.

The updated engine specifications of the motorcycle are not known as of yet though they are expected to be revised as per the BS6-compliant engine. One can expect the Royal Enfield Meteor to be launched in the market with a premium of INR 10,000-15,000 over the present-gen Thunderbird X350, that is currently available at INR 1.63 lakh (ex-showroom).

JEDI Customs, a motorcycle customization shop in Mumbai, Maharashtra has come up with yet another appealing modification of the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 into a retro bobber. The Thunderbird and Classic series from Royal Enfield are constantly subjected to some amazing modifications and this neo-retro bobber is the one worth mentioning.

The total cost of customization of the 2002 Thunderbird 350 into a retro bobber stands at INR 1.40 lakhs while it required JEDI customs a total of three months to get to the end product. The overall red colour scheme offered to the redesigned fuel tank of the motorcycle with the premium leather uplifted single-seat saddle adds to the retro authenticity of the customized motorcycle while at the same time, the unique Royal Enfield brass emblems finished in golden shade adds to its premium appeal.

The customizers have further imparted the modified motorcycle a clean look by eliminating the tail light and the pillion seat as well as the grab rail. The motorcycle has been further equipped with hand-butted ribs on the side panels, while the headlight is surrounded by an old school cape. In addition to this, the customizers have let go of the instrument panel while all other body panels have been imparted with a glossy black finish to enhance the overall retro profile of the motorcycle.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, there has been no mechanical updates offered to the stock machine. The customized Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 continues to be powered by 346cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 19.80 bhp @ 5250 rpm and a peak torque of 28 Nm @ 4000 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed transmission.

At present, no details are available regarding the power and torque figures of the BS6-compliant model though one can expect the motorcycle to generate the same output figures as that of the BS6 Classic 350.

Bandidos Pitstop, the motorcycle accessories and riding gear shop in Thrissur, Kerala has recently launched a belt drive kit for the Royal Enfield motorcycles. The all-new belt drive kit allows the motorcycle’s chain drive system to be replaced with a belt-driven system which further offers increased power and torque figures. The belt-driven kit is currently available at Bandidos Pitstop at a price tag of INR 15,800.

The all-new belt-driven system has been specifically designed by Legundary Custom Built and is available with the Bandidos both online as well as offline. The brand has ensured an increase in power and torque delivery with the installation of belt-driven transmission through a recently conducted dyno test by Race Dynamics.

Belt Drive Kit for Royal Enfield Motorcycles

Designed by Legundary Custom Built

The dyno test conducted on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 with a belt drive system witnessed the motorcycle register a maximum power of 39.5HP and a peak torque of 44.8Nm at the wheels. The power and torque figures have been noted duly with the help of dynamometers used by the Race Dynamics.

Similarly, the belt-driven system on the Royal Enfield Classic 500 was capable of offering maximum power of 17.3HP and an increased torque of 29.8Nm at the wheels. The system offers a straight gain in the torque by 7Nm when compared to the 22.4Nm of torque offered at wheels with a chain drive system.

Interceptor 650 & Classic 500

According to the brand, the belt-driven system offers a smooth and quiet ride when compared to the one offered by a chain drive system. The decrease in friction further ensures maximum power flow and improved efficiency while at the same time offers maximum safety.

Bandidos Pitstop ensures that the belt drive doesn’t require any other mechanical bits to be altered in the stock motorcycle and doesn’t require lubrication at any stage of the motorcycle’s life. The use of poly-carbon material in the belt makes it much stronger and reliable when compared to the chain.

The belt-driven kit offered to the customers features a single belt and two sprockets. The brand is further offering 3 years/unlimited kilometres warranty for its new product. The interested customers can further contact Bandidos Pitstop to get more details on the belt drive kit or can order it online here.

EIMOR Customs, the house of custom motorcycles in Hyderabad is one of the most sought after customization shops in the country when it comes to offering splendid designs that are worthy of a second look. The customizers at EIMOR have recently modified a Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 for a client who has christened his modified motorcycle as Kapidhwaja, inspired by the name of Arjuna’s chariot in Mahabharata.

The client contacted the custom motorcycle shop with a clear vision in mind and the modifiers have delivered the same. The modified motorcycle has been equipped with a broader Triple Tree that offers it an overall wider look as compared to the stock Thunderbird model.

Coming to the front fascia, the Kapidhwaja has been equipped with a redesigned LED headlight which replaces the stock unit. Both the rear and front of the motorcycle have been equipped with 18-inch wheels with 80-spoke rims. In addition to this, the tail light of the motorcycle has also been redesigned and now features an LED unit housed inside a unique brass casing.

In addition to the tail light, the brass detailing is carried on to the handlebar-end weights as well as the front shock caps. The handlebar of the modified motorcycle further features smaller and round turn signals neatly integrated on either side. The twin-pod instrument unit seen on the stock Thunderbird variant has been replaced with a single-pod fully digital instrument panel.

The front mudguard has also been redesigned and is now smaller as compared to the one offered on the stock motorcycle. The single-seat saddle has been further redesigned with premium leather with ribbed detailing.

Coming to the fuel tank design, the modifiers have offered the motorcycle a smaller peanut-design tank that adds to the motorcycle’s overall unique profile. Adorned with red metal flakes with gold leaf design, the fuel tank further features a brass tank cap with “Thotakura” encrypted on it.

The modifiers have offered unique fabrication to the side covers as well as the capsules. The aesthetically designed Swagman exhaust system further adds to the motorcycle’s bulky outlook. Besides the red colour offered to the fuel tank, the rest of the motorcycle features a matte black colour scheme. The pillion seat backrest has been offered chrome finishing and features “Kapidhwaja” engraved in a beautiful font.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, the motorcycle has been kept mechanically unaltered. Powering the Kapidhwaja is the same 346cc engine that is good for offering maximum power of 19.8BHP @ 5250 rpm and a peak torque of 28Nm @ 4000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The price range of Royal Enfield motorcycles start from INR 1.15 lakh for the base model of the Bullet 350 and goes all the way up to INR 2.92 lakh for the top model of the Continental GT 650. In between this price range, one can get four different engine options and multiple body designs.

Royal Enfield Himalayan is powered by a 411cc engine and carries an adventure-spec design with huge rims and impressive stance. Next is the Thunderbird series with cruiser-specific design and option between two different engines – 350cc and 500cc. The RE Classic 350 is the highest-selling product with a starting ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.53 lakh.

The 350cc Classic model offers features like dual disc brakes, 2-channel ABS, electric starter and much more while Bullet is good for all these features on the 500cc variant only as the 350cc Bullet comes with a rear drum brake and a single-channel ABS unit. The buyers can even go for special Royal Enfield motorcycles like Gunmetal Grey and Signals Edition for the Classic 350 while the Classic 500 can be had in Desert Storm, Chrome, Squadron Blue, and Stealth Black.

EIMOR Customs, the house of modified bikes in Hyderabad is known to offer some splendid paint jobs and customizations to the motorcycles that make them stand apart from the crowd. One such amazing customization we came across recently is the modified Royal Enfield Thunderbird 2007 variant. EIMOR has christened the modified motorcycle as Karma.

The modifiers believe in the quote “Work is Worship” with all their heart and the modified motorcycle is the tribute to their craftsmanship. The customizations offered by the duo MJ and Joy, the owners of EIMOR Customs, are extraordinary and offers a new dimension to the motorcycle.

The Karma has been specifically modified for MJ, the co-owner of the customization shop. The modification was carried out on MJ’s first-ever motorcycle which is 12-years old and EIMOR Customs wanted to revive it to keep the passion burning.

The modifiers have offered an overall chameleon orange colour profile to the motorcycle which further features candy blue/violet flames with yellow pinstriping running from the top to the bottom. The motorcycle has been elongated by a total of 2-inches while the fuel tank has also been redesigned and now features a sleep-curved design that flows all the way to the rider’s seat.

EIMOR Customs has equipped the motorcycle with a big-profile front mudguard to complete the overall look. The rear mudguard features the identical pinstriped flame detailing on it and gets a redesigned tail light. The similar graphics are carried onto the front mudguard which features a steel crown on top.

The modifiers have further offered a black matte colour to the engine while the casing has been finished with silver detailing. EIMOR has offered the toolbox with a combination of orange and blue pinstripes which further features “Karma” painted on top.

The toolbox on the left features the owner’s name “Mrutyunjaya Dash” scribbled on top. The single-seat saddle is made up of fine leather with ribbed detailing accentuating the motorcycle’s cruiser profile.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, the 2007 model of the Royal Enfield Thunderbird remains mechanically unaltered. Powering the Karma is the same 346cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine that is capable to generate a maximum power of 18HP and a peak torque of 27.5Nm. The engine remains mated to a 4-speed gearbox.

The 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird X has been spotted multiple times testing on the Indian roads while we now have our hands on the latest spy shots of the motorcycle which shows the upcoming cruiser in all its glory. The overall cruiser design language of the motorcycle has been kept intact by the brand though there are a host of cosmetic and mechanical updates that set it apart from the present-gen variants.

Coming to the front fascia, the motorcycle now features an all-new round LED headlight unit which is mated to conventional turn indicators at either side. The side panels of the motorcycle have also been redesigned while the rear now features an all-new round tail lamp design. The brand has further flanked the rear indicators just below the rear mudguard, mated to the number plate.

The brand has offered the motorcycle with an all-black colour scheme which offers it a premium look. The fuel tank on the 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird X has also been redesigned and is sleeker plus longer when compared to the present-gen variant. The motorcycle has been further equipped with a split seat design which sets it apart from the present-gen Thunderbird X series. The all-new seat design seems to be well-padded for enhanced rider and pillion comfort.

The motorcycle now features a single-pod semi-digital instrument cluster which now features an LCD screen amidst the analogue speedometer. The brand has further equipped the 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird X with an all-new retro toggle-type switchgear for the ignition as well as high/low beam.

Powering the updated motorcycle will be a BS6-compliant 346cc engine that will be equipped with a fuel injection system while one can expect it to offer optimum power and torque output. One can expect the 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird X to carry a premium of around INR 10,000-15,000 over the current-gen Thunderbird X which is presently available in the market at a price tag of INR 1.63 lakh (ex-showroom).
