Maruti Vitara Brezza Diesel vs Hyundai Venue Diesel: Hyundai Venue is a direct rival to Maruti Vitara Brezza, targeting the most selling product in its own territory in 2019. The latter is only available in diesel engine and thus, the five-digit sales number is under the fear of downfall after the introduction of the Hyundai Venue.

The compact SUV segment also has Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V, Mahindra XUV300, and Ford EcoSport as the challengers but, all of them register a considerable chunk of sales through the petrol engine options. Hyundai Venue diesel is powered by a reliable 1396cc, four-cylinder diesel motor producing 90HP of peak power and 220Nm of max torque. Being a diesel engine, all the fun stays under the 4000 rpm limit on the car.

Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1248cc four-cylinder diesel engine and the torque value is 20Nm lesser in comparison to the Hyundai Venue. The 90HP maximum power stays the same between both the cars while delivery is different due to the use of 6-speed gearbox on the Venue and 5-speed gearbox on the Vitara Brezza. The design lines on the Vitara Brezza are focused to bring bulk to the car while Venue comes with sharp lines and impressive front fascia to offer a unique position for itself.

Maruti Vitara Brezza

Hyundai Venue diesel is more powerful, stylish and undoubtedly, more safe with a 6-airbag shield on the top-spec variant. The safety features on the Vitara Brezza are limited to just two airbags while reverse parking camera can be had on the top-spec variant. Hyundai Venue and Maruti Vitara Brezza are both available with black interiors and silver highlights, with both the cars having the same 2500mm wheelbase and under-4m length.

The biggest design highlight for the Venue is the split headlight design. No other car of the sub-4m segment features the same design philosophy in India. The next car with such expressions is the new Tata Harrier. The Hyundai Venue diesel is expected to be priced between INR 9-12 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is available with a starting price tag of INR 7.65 lakh and the top-spec variant with dual-tone paint is available for INR 10.68 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition is the closest-possible, technologically-loaded product to the exosuit designed by Tony Stark. For those who are well into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the key fob of this special edition model is good enough to bring goosebumps. The four regular buttons on one side are complemented by the Iron Man helmet on the back side while the same is seen on the seats along with Stark branding. The exterior of this special edition Kona is seen with dual-tone, Red and Matt Grey shade with Marvel branding on the bonnet.

Hyundai Kona was one among the first cars to offer split design for the headlight section and this special edition is seen with a red surround for the primary headlight. The alloy wheels are dual tone, finished in chrome/red finish and further complemented by matching cladding on the side. The red armour theme on the car goes beyond these minor inserts as the entire roof is finished in the bright shade along with the side mirrors.

The futuristic bits are available in abundance on the inside as Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition offers Heads-up display with Jarvis-style startup sequence and programmed MID with Iron Man face and a new background for the dials. The gear knob is beautifully carved with Arc Reactor graphics while the exterior rear end features a different bumper, tail lights, and metallic skid plate.

2019 Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition is available for $30,550 (INR 21.30 lakh approx) for the front wheel drive and $31,950 (INR 22.28 lakh approx) for the all-wheel-drive model. The car comes with a 1.6L, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, producing 175 HP of maximum power. As Hyundai Kona Electric has already been considered for India, an Iron Man Edition for the car will further improve its overall presence.

The F-150 Raptor is one of the best performance trucks in the world. It has a loud design, and without any doubt, it is the supercar among the pickup trucks of the world. This truck is truly high-powered and can run just as fast over dirt and gravel as it can on the tarmac. Ford was the company which put the pickup trucks on the map when it introduced the F-150 Raptor to the world back in 2010.

This truck was capable of handling any terrain and just within a short period of time, it became the dream off-roader of every enthusiast in the world. Normal pickup trucks were popular only in a few countries, but Ford decided to offer aftermarket additions to their normal Raptor and bring it to a brand-new segment of performance pickup trucks. Here are a few things that you should know about the F-150 Raptor:

7 Must-Know Facts About the F-150 Raptor

1) Engine

Last year, the Raptor received one of the biggest changes to its mechanical components, which was carried over to this year. Changing from the 6.2-litre V8 engine to a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost 3.5-litre V6, Ford ensured that the engine produced an impressive 450 hp of maximum torque and 691.5 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all the wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission coupled with an all-wheel-drive system. This drive-train allows the Raptor to take full advantage of the V6 engine.

2) Seating & Cargo Space

The Raptor is available only in the SuperCab and SuperCrew configurations. There is ample space for adults to sit in both the models and the rear seats are quite comfortable over longer trips. Interior cargo space can be extended by flipping up the rear passenger seats. The bed on the Raptor, however, is available only in one size, a 5-foot 6-inch bed, the smallest available on the pickup truck segment of the Ford lineup. Increasing the bed size would have a negative impact on the performance of the pickup truck.

3) Interior

The interior design of the Raptor may feel a bit old when compared to the other trucks such as the Ram 1500 or the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. However, the placement of the controls is quite sensible and easy for operation while driving. There is a large infotainment screen which is guarded by the air conditioning vents. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather for a better comfort while driving, and there are a lot of spaces in the interior for storage of cups and bottles. There is a large armrest in the centre, which makes cruising on the Raptor quite comfortable. The seats are electronically adjustable in eight different positions. An optional SYNC 3 infotainment system is a logical choice; it makes the things on the screen easy to read, and the menu layout is quite crisp as well.

4) Suspension

Taking the Raptor off the road will not only require a powerful engine but also a good suspension setup. To address this, Ford introduced an innovative suspension setup on the Raptor, giving the truck Fox Racing performance shock absorbers which provide the truck with 13-inches of travel at the front and 14-inches of travel at the rear. This makes the truck quite capable off the road and gives a smooth on-road drive as well. The truck also features a Torque-on-Demand transfer case, a Terrain Management System, six driving modes, and an electronically locking rear differential, all of which help it to endure the hurdles when off the road.

5) Safety Equipment

There is a host of safety equipment which comes standard on the Raptor. The list includes a backup camera with Dynamic Hitch Assist, front and side impact airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, and traction control with Roll Stability Control. The urban usage of the truck might require you to attach a trailer behind the truck and while reversing, the Dynamic Hitch Assist comes into play, providing you with guidelines to better lineup the truck. There is an optional 360-degree camera and Pro Trailer Backup Assist. Using the latter option, all you have to do is point towards the direction that you would want the trailer to go and forget about counter-steering while backing up.

6) Rivals

The F-150 Raptor does not have any true rivals since it is the only performance pickup truck that is available in the market. However, there are some products from different companies which come close to matching its performance and capabilities. There is the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, which is a lightweight pickup, the Ram Power Wagon, and the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon which comes equipped with quite a lot of off-roading gear. However, the Power Wagon from Ram is quite large and cannot fit into spaces that the Raptor can easily manoeuvre through. The truck from Jeep is capable off the road but on terrains such as a desert, it cannot match against the Raptor. The Raptor is the only machine that can fly over the desert, while the others can only crawl on the trails.

7) Price

The F-150 Raptor starts at $50,675 in the United States of America. When launched in India, the price could be upwards of INR 1.07 crores. This is the expected figure that we get when we compare the price of the Mustang GT in the USA and the one that we get in India. Buying a pickup truck at this price would not be a viable option for the Indian customers, regardless of all the features that are being offered.

Hyundai Venue has hundreds of minor points that help it gain a unique position among the compact SUVs of India. Keeping all of them in mind and Hyundai’s plan to bring the car to India next month, the thinking will definitely fall in the favour of waiting for a few weeks before making your next car purchase. Here are five reasons why the new Hyundai Venue SUV is worth waiting for the Indian buyers.

5 Reasons Why You Should Wait for Hyundai Venue SUV

1) Excellent Design and Styling: Hyundai has raised the design benchmarks to the next level, forcing others to consider the split headlight setup for their future products. The sharp eyebrow section holds the indicators while daytime running lights and primary headlight is enclosed in the lower section. The rear design of the car is also very impressive with VW Polo-inspired tail lights. Those who feel the Venue is compact and may not suit their needs, they can have a look at the Next-Gen Creta here.

2) Spacious and Feature-Rich Interiors: Hyundai Venue Interior is truly drool-worthy as prospective buyers will get loads of space on the inside, that too loaded with features that can improve the overall drive feel. The features like electric sunroof, glove box cooling, wireless charging, cruise control, and Arkamys sound clears that you lose nothing in the package. The compact SUV is equipped with an 8.0-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay & Android Auto. You can click here to view the live photos of Venue Interior.

3) Multiple Engine and Gearbox Options: Everyone has a different view of petrol and diesel engine preference. The fact was clearly understood by Hyundai as they have offered petrol, diesel and even turbo petrol for the buyers. The last one comes with an option between a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The petrol and diesel motor are shared with the popular i20 hatchback while the all-new 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol offers 120 HP of max power. Here are the quick technical specifications of Hyundai Venue SUV:

1.2L Petrol Engine

4) Safety and Connectivity Features: Hyundai Venue comes with class-leading connectivity through Bluelink technology. It offers remote start, climate control and a total of 33 connectivity features. Buyers can monitor real-world traffic conditions along with vehicle theft notification and other safety features. The passenger safety features on the car include 6-airbags, Electonic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill Assist Control (HAC), ISOFIX child seats, and Brake Assist System (BAS).

5) Attractive Warranty and RSA Package: Hyundai will offer 3-year unlimited kilometre warranty along with 3-year Roadside Assistance Package (RSA) with the car. This Tata H5X-inspired Harrier SUV in a dual-tone Silver/Black finish and added graphics takes the premium mid-size, 5-seat SUV benchmark to a new level. The car comes with a full black roof, H5X branding on the side profile and red inserts in the front grille. The alloy wheels from the stock car have been replaced with petal-design wheels that are not exactly similar to the H5X concept.

Also, the profile of the wheels is totally different as low profile tires on large alloy wheels were shown on the concept. That would have resulted in a decrease in passenger comfort as low profile tires are not suitable for rough as well as pothole-filled roads. Tata Harrier has successfully started a different segment, with buyers coming from both the Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass territory.

The detailing on this modified Harrier SUV can further be seen on door handles and pillars, with the dealership also using a hexagonal graphic pattern on the rear door. The stock car can be had in Ariel Silver, Orcus White, Thermisto Gold, Calisto Copper, and Telesto Grey colour options. The Kryotec 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine on the car is good for 140 HP of maximum power and 350 Nm of maximum torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

According to the reports, the all-new Mahindra Thar will also be available with Jeep wrangler inspired removable hard top in addition to the standard soft top version. Volkswagen T-Roc SUV was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017 and now the brand is all set to launch it in the Indian market by the second half of this year. The compact SUV is based on the MQB platform and it will be the second SUV in the Volkswagen portfolio to be launched in India after the Tiguan. The SUV will be available in the Indian market as CBU though, will be positioned under the VW Tiguan in terms of the price range. Volkswagen will be importing the T-Roc as per the central govt’s regulations of shipping only 2500 units per year.

The VW T-Roc will allow the brand to compete in the market with the likes of Hyundai Creta in the premium compact SUV segment though the price segment can also make it compete with the likes of mid-size SUVs like Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV 500. The Volkswagen T-Roc is available in the global market in 5 different variants while there haven’t been any details shared for their availability in India as of yet. It is expected that the compact SUV will be offered in the Indian market in two powertrains: a 1.5-litre TSI EVO petrol engine and 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. They are likely to feature a 6-speed manual transmission though, a 7-speed automatic DSG will also be available as an option.

Mahindra TUV300 facelift has started reaching the dealerships ahead of the official launch event. The updated model will be available in five different variants and now, the highlights have grown to the all-time max with the inclusion of gloss black and chrome on the front grill. The car was first introduced in 2015 and since then, the brand has tried numerous upgrades to keep the car in compliance to the compact SUV segment. The other options available in this segment are more glamorous, efficient and practical than the TUV300 while this one offers robust all-terrain usability with a practical SUV feel.

The sales number was never that high for the SUV but, efforts from Mahindra never went down. They have even showcased multiple modified versions from their own customization arm. The updated TUV300 comes with the 100 HP, 1.5L diesel engine with 240 Nm of maximum torque. The number is small in comparison to the Tata Nexon as it produces 260 Nm with much lower kerb weight on offer. Still, the rear wheel drive layout of TUV300 makes it exclusive in front of all the options. Also, the commanding seating position and the high bonnet is seen only on the Mahindra TUV300.

The variants will be named as T4+, T6+, T8, T10, and T10+. The AMT gearbox available with the car will not be offered on the updated 2019 variant. The same gearbox was listed under many issues as owners were not satisfied with its performance. The update may look smaller than usual but Mahindra must have made some internal changes to make the new TUV300 safer than the last version. The upcoming crash test norms will require the addition of many features to the Indian cars and options like Thar will not be able to pass the same without getting a complete overhaul.

Hyundai has unveiled the all-new ix25 (Next-Gen Creta) at the Shanghai Motor Show. The car comes with an all-new front fascia, leaving behind the conventional headlights for the Kona-inspired split setup. The eyebrow LED daytime running light on the car is straight, leaving behind any sort of pattern that was seen in the recently launched Santa Fe LWB. The headlight is showing multiple splits as a small section is seen between the primary headlight and the DRL. The bonnet feels more upright with the update, getting a matching chrome grill highlight to improve the visual feel.

The front comes with a silver lower bumper section while side profile features thick cladding. The alloy wheels seen here are bigger and finished in the dual-tone premium touch. The side profile is directly derived from the current generation Creta, with same window line and improved glass area after the B-pillar. The rear is another story in itself as the tail section comes with revised lights that are now placed much lower than the existing car. The split light design language is also new and similar in design to the front light. The next-gen Creta measures 4300mm in length, 1790mm in width and 1620mm in height.

The wheelbase is quite healthy at 2610mm while the brand is also expected to launch a seven-seater variant of the Creta to take on Harrier-based (Cassini) SUV. The car can make its official Indian entry at the Auto Expo 2020 while other options like Venue and Santa Fe (if launched by end 2019) will introduce the face before the official entry of next-gen Creta. The interior is decades ahead of the current generation model as one can see the huge display that controls everything for the car and waterfall-style centre console that handles everything from the gear selector to the touch controls.
