Tata Cassini Could be the Official Name of Buzzard for the Indian Market: Tata with its new lineup of four major vehicles in every segment was one of the most significant showstoppers at the Geneva Motor Show 2019. The new lineup consists of Tata H2X, Altroz, it’s EV version as well the 7-seater version of Harrier SUV unveiled by the name Buzzard. The brand is expected to launch two of its new cars by the end of the year 2019.

According to the new reports surfaced, Tata has been given an official “no” for its patent filing of the 7-seater Harrier as Buzzard thus leading the brand to file for a new name: Tata Cassini. Based on the name of an official satellite launched through the collaboration of NASA with ESA, Tata’s H7X, now going by the name Cassini is one of the most anticipated SUVs of the year.

The European markets will still be getting the H7X by the name Tata Buzzard. According to the speculations, the brand is expected to offer a 4-wheel drive system on the Tata Cassini though no official confirmation on the same has been made yet. The all-new SUV will be equipped with all the features from the Tata harrier in addition to 2 extra seats and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Powering the Tata Cassini is a 2.0-litre FCA-derived engine capable of boosting the maximum power to a whopping 170 HP mark indicating the SUV to offer much more torque. Keeping in check the fact that all the mechanical bits for the Tata Cassini have been derived from the Land Rover vehicles, it is likely to get a tweaked terrain management system.

In terms of pricing, the all-new SUV is expected to get a competitive price range to compete against the likes of Mahindra Alturas G4, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and the Isuzu MU-X. In order to overcome the competitors, the brand is expected to undercut the price range by a huge margin making the Tata Cassini to be priced at INR 16 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant.

MG Motors is expected to set foot in India with their debut car, the MG Hector SUV. Though we were blessed with certain teaser images of the same few months ago, the first clear images of the SUV have surfaced recently. The Indian-spec variant of the Hector SUV has been seen during the filming of a TV commercial with UK’s very own Benedict Cumberbatch taking the front wheel. India’s first connected passenger vehicle is expected to be launched in the mid of the year 2019 and will be priced at a starting tag of INR 15 lakhs. The MG Hector SUV is expected to compete in the market with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier.

MG Hector will be available in India with two engine specifications. The 2.0-litre diesel engine borrowed from Jeep Compass is capable of churning out a power of 170 HP while the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine will be good for 150 HP. Both the engine variants will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission though, the petrol engine can also be availed with a six-speed DCT.

Based on the underpinnings of Baojun 530 SUV, the MG Hector SUV’s Indian Spec variant gets a tweaked front grille exhibiting a honeycomb design. It features a larger signature logo “MG” at the centre of the grille while exhibits a chrome trim on the front bumper. The SUV will feature LED headlights and daytime running lights while the shark antenna and the diamond cut alloy wheels compliments its unique styling.

The MG Hector SUV will be available in India in two sunroof variants: a panoramic sunroof for the top spec models while a smaller one for the base model. The SUV is expected to feature a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system though, the high spec variants can also expect major other luxury features. The Indian showrooms for the brand are expected to be inaugurated in the coming months though there hasn’t been any date finalised for the launch of MG Hector SUV as of yet.

Mahindra Bolero Attitude is the most modern example when seen in terms of styling and use of custom panels. The bright orange paint job, along with the metallic finish of the new headlight casing and bumper parts look futuristic on the basic profile of a Bolero. The roof comes with four high-output lights while the number plate on the front has moved to a slightly lower location on the winch section. The headlight seen here has three independent lights in three different circular casing and all of them studded within an odd-shaped headlight. The lower section holds two additional fog lights.

The rear of Bolero Attitude comes with two fuel cans in place of the spare wheel, which in fact is mounted inside the car. The fixed roof and five-door layout of the Bolero have been replaced with a two-door layout and pick-up style rear deck with space for the remaining stuff and huge glass within the black division wall. The four exhaust exits look really cool while the rear bumper is completely finished in the silver shade. The door opens sideways and thus, the wheel will not move along when using the deck section. The side profile clears that the extra-wide tires are wrapped around the 5-spoke chrome wheels.

The snorkel on the right side further improves the off-road potential of the Bolero Attitude. The interior features black steering wheel and orange inserts on the dashboard. The speaker outlines and gear knob also features the familiar orange colour on them. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is further complemented by black leather seats and Attitude branding. The two independent armrests are quite practical for everyday use. Mahindra Bolero is available with two different engine options and getting any of them depends upon your driving needs. You can contact ‘Mahindra Customisation Studio’ to know the cost of these modifications.

Meet Tata Harrier Dual-Tone Edition: Tata Harrier is available with just single tone colours in the stock condition while the one spotted here wears an impressive Black roof on the Orcus White body finish. The typical Harrier was delivered by a Tata dealer who had already delivered the same one a few days back to an owner. However, the one seen here features additional Black alloy wheels with the remaining upgrade. The new Harrier is impressively made, resembling the Land Rover family up to some extent from the rear end.

The OMEGA platform is derived from the familiar architecture used by Land Rover and thus, capability levels of the new Harrier are higher than any sort of expectations. The car comes with an excellent footprint and claims 140 HP of maximum power from the 2.0L engine. The official dual tone shade options may not arrive anytime soon and once all the dealers start offering these sort of additions, the Harrier models seen on the road will attract more buyers than ever.

Tata Harrier 4×4 is listed under the possibilities that the brand imagines for the 5-seat premium SUV. Tata clears the fact that they are working on the upgrades for their diesel engine lineup, pushing them into the BS6 league before the deadline of April 2020. The cost of every diesel vehicle will see a sharp rise next year, with Tata even planning to discontinue the smaller 1.0L, 3-cylinder diesel engine from the lineup. The fate of the bigger 1.5L diesel will depend on the demand of customers in the present and coming months as the shift of interest in petrol engines will not let them have the desired profits from the compact diesel engine lineup.

Tata Harrier 4x4 India Launch
Tata Harrier 4×4 India Launch Expected by End 2020

Tata Harrier is using a 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 140 HP of maximum torque. The same engine was seen under the bonnet of Tata Buzzard at the Geneva Motor Show, producing 170 HP of enhanced output for the 7-seat version. The first priority of Tata Motors is to update their engines to BS6-compliant level while secondly, they will use the 6-speed automatic gearbox for the buyers. Even if the brand doesn’t feel like there is a need for 4×4, the plan will not be executed at any cost. If the user queries rise for the more capable variant after the BS6 update, they can use the tech to bring a more advanced Terrain response system on the car.

Tata Harrier is available in four variants while Buzzard has not yet been spotted at any location in the country. It is even expected that the name for the 7-seat SUV will change for India. Tata Motors can even scrap the Bolt and Zest project with the BS6 upgrade as the Fiat-sourced 1.3L diesel engine will not be available from April 2020 and petrol variants of Tiago and Tigor are more efficient in comparison to the other two. Harrier 4×4 may only see the daylight in late 2020, that too when buyers ask Tata to bring the same into production on a large scale.

2019 Geneva Motor Show confirmed that Tata Buzzard Sport is the European nameplate for the popular Harrier SUV being sold in India. The name even confirms that the Indian brand is following a familiar Discovery and Discovery Sport nomenclature from the Land Rover as the former is a full sized SUV and latter comes with seating for five passengers. Tata also unveiled the full sized Buzzard SUV that measures 62mm longer than the Sport version and features additional two seats. The most powerful engine tune is seen under the Buzzard as it is good for 170 HP of maximum power from the same 2.0L, the 4-cylinder diesel engine of the Buzzard Sport.

The claimed entry of both these names also creates a state of confusion for the Indian market as Harrier nameplate being used for the smaller car could mean a different name for the Buzzard in the country. Also, Tata is already using different names for two products based on the same platform as seen with Tiago and Tigor. Buzzard Sport comes with exactly same interior as the Harrier while alloy wheel the size has been raised to 18-inches on the Euro-spec car. The popular shade that is seen on all Indian Tata Motors advertisement was kept intact on the European Buzzard Sport.

The car measures 4598mm in length, 1894mm in width and 1706mm in height. The wheelbase measures 2741mm for both the models. However, the change in length is visible after the rear wheel only. Tata Motors is expected to keep the automatic option as standard on both the cars in Europe while the Indian market will get the new gearbox only in the 7-seat guise. The option of the sunroof is not available on any of them presently while 4×4 is yet to be announced for the newly developed products based on the OMEGA platform.

Tata H2X Hornbill Concept has been officially revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The car comes with an impressive front fascia in the concept form, revealing itself as the smaller version of Harrier in all visual aspects. The upper section comes with similar LED daytime running lights like the Harrier and while the primary headlight is studded into the lower part that has a Y-shaped enhancement part attached to it. The production version will definitely use the uniquely-shaped section to bring projectors into action for the headlight. However, the lack of projector headlights like the Harrier could also mean a plan to bring a certain change in the bumper design.

Being the most compact SUV from Tata, Hornbill will rival entry-level products that come with a badge of mini SUV in the country. The production version for the model is planned for 2020 while the retail plan has not yet been revealed for the car. The interior of the H2X concept features a single display section and flat-bottom steering wheel, with both elements being nothing more than paper design at the moment. The vents are curved rectangular pieces while the dashboard flows perfectly in the layered form on the concept version. The car is made into the tightest possible dimensions and its wheelbase clears the same in a practical manner.

The rear is yet to get a close-production tail light while the glass section has been designed to prove elegance in the most easy-to-use manner. The tires are huge on the concept form while the road-legal version will feature a maximum of 15-inch wheels for sure. The engine options are yet to be disclosed while production fascia of the car will clear the actual rivals for the H2X Hornbill concept. Even the design of the front and rear skid plate is yet to be seen on the production version.

Tata has officially confirmed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show that the upcoming H7X SUV will be known as Tata Buzzard. The product will be their new flagship car with seven seats as standard and engine derived from the Harrier. The front fascia resembles the Harrier as Buzzard comes with the same daytime running light section on the top and headlight section under the same. The alloy wheels are 18-inch on the car while front features a massive flat bash plate finished in silver. The side profile features a huge glass section for the third row, bringing the same sort of effect that was earlier seen through the Land Rover Discovery.

However, the difference here is not that massive for sure. The use of bigger alloy wheels will definitely alter the ground clearance for the Buzzard, which is supposed to get more weight on the inside through two extra passengers and their luggage. The rear features a watered-down version of the Harrier with well-designed lights and impressive exhaust sections. The car measures 62mm longer than the standard Harrier and not just that, the change in length is visible after the rear tire as wheelbase remains the same on the new Tata Buzzard.

The OMEGA platform being used on the Harrier is their game plan for premium products while ALFA used on the Altroz will underpin the future compact products. The car will feature the same 2.0L engine producing 170 HP for a better overall power-to-weight ratio. The range is expected to start from INR 15 lakh while getting 6-speed automatic option will take the top-spec model’s price around INR 22 lakh. The 4×4 option has not been mentioned during the official unveiling. Tata Buzzard comes with roof rails on the version that was shown at the auto show, missing the sunroof option for the present moment.
