Suzuki is all set to launch the BS6-compliant models of the 250cc Gixxer series in the Indian market very soon. Ahead of the official launch, the ex-showroom prices of the BS6 Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 have surfaced online.

As per a recent report, the updated model of Gixxer 250 will be launched with a price tag of INR 1.65 lakhs while the Gixxer SF 250 will be available with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.76 lakhs. The updated 250cc Suzuki Gixxer series was officially unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020 in February this year. As the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250 were developed with the upcoming BS6 norms in mind and now with the addition of a new exhaust system and an ECU, Suzuki has updated its 250cc bikes to comply with the upcoming emission norms.

The power figure for both the bikes remain similar to the outgoing BS4 models while the torque has dropped by 0.4Nm. The BS6 Suzuki Gixxer 250 series is capable of churning out 26.5HP of maximum power at 9300 rpm along with 22.2Nm of peak torque at 7300 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Suzuki Gixxer 250 streetfighter has been launched in India at a price tag of INR 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The naked motorcycle is based on the fully-faired Gixxer SF 250 that was recently launched in the Indian market in May 2019. Launched in the premium segment, the Gixxer 250 can be availed in the market in two colour variants namely: Metallic Matte Platinum Silver/Metallic Matte Black and a Matte Black colour. For the recently launched motorcycle, the brand ensures improved performance and better aerodynamics.

Powering the Suzuki Gixxer 250 naked motorcycle is the same 249cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 26.5 HP at 9000 rpm and a peak torque of 22.6 Nm at 7500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle has been mated to dual-channel ABS for additional safety. Like the Gixxer SF 250, the street model is also equipped with Suzuki Oil Cooling System (SOCS).

Taking styling cues from the Gixxer SF 250, the Gixxer 250 gets a gold coloured finish on the engine casing. The motorcycle gets a fully-digital instrument console, double-barrel exhaust with chrome detailing and multi-spoke black alloy wheels. The rear end of the motorcycle is also based on the design language of Gixxer SF 250. Finally, the spy pics of the upcoming Suzuki Gixxer 250 street fighter have surfaced online. ‘Bike Advice’ has managed to leak a couple of photos which reveal some of the key details for the bike. The naked Gixxer 250 carries the same alloy wheel plus tyre setup and the bike is also expected to feature the same braking unit including the double channel ABS like the Gixxer SF 250. But there is one minor change, the street fighter version does get rim stripes which add on to its sporty look along with black coloured mudguard.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 Street Fighter will be Mechanically Similar to the Gixxer SF 250

The bike will also come with a body-coloured underbelly engine guard as well as tank extensions which displays the ‘Gixxer 250’ moniker. The side top-view for the bike showcases a silver stripe on the fuel tank while you can also spot the knuckle guards, which are mounted on a standard rod-type handlebar. For a relaxed seating posture, the handlebar has been slightly raised on the naked Gixxer 250. The cockpit of the naked variant will feature the same all-digital instrument cluster and as the bike has no fairing, the rear-view mirrors are mounted on the handlebar.

The launch of a 250cc Suzuki streetfighter will turn true this year. Suzuki Gixxer 250 is expected to be launched in India around Diwali in October 2019. As of now, no test mule has been spotted testing on the Indian roads. Earlier, the motorcycle was expected to launch by mid-2019, but that slot later went into the hands of the Gixxer SF 250. The new 250cc Suzuki motorcycle was earlier expected to be based on the Haojue DR300 in terms of the overall design and looks but now, you can expect the fairing of the SF 250 to transform into a tank extension.

It won’t be wrong to assume that Suzuki is following Yamaha’s trick of launching a product that is powerful, affordable, and unmistakably fan-focused. The upcoming motorcycle has more chances of resembling a litre-class street machine as every manufacturer follows the same trend of first launching a powerful litre-class motorcycle and then taking design hints for the regular model.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 250
Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 was Recently Launched at INR 1.71 lakh in India

Expected pricing for the Suzuki Gixxer 250 falls around INR 1.55 lakh, leaving chances for 10% reduction in price if they plan to place their product around Yamaha FZ25 in terms of ex-showroom price. At present, the 2019 model of FZ25 with 2-channel ABS is available for INR 1.34 lakh.

As Suzuki has launched the SF 250 with a 2-channel ABS unit, the upcoming Gixxer 250 will also bring the safety feature as standard. The Indian government has also made it mandatory for all 125cc+ motorcycles to be equipped with ABS. Starting from 1st April this year, no 2-wheeler brand can sell a 125cc+ bike or scooter without anti-lock braking system.

As expected, Suzuki Motorcycle India will soon introduce the naked roadster version of its recently launched Gixxer SF 250. At the launch event, the company officials confirmed that Gixxer 250 Street Fighter will arrive in the coming months, most probably in the festive season around Navratri or Diwali. The upcoming 250cc naked motorcycle will share its underpinnings and mechanical specifications with the full-faired version of the bike.

The ‘SRK Designs’ recently revealed the concept for the Gixxer 250 which shows that this model will feature the same chassis, hardware, and engine specifications as Gixxer SF 250. As seen in the rendered image, the front end features an aggressive-looking full LED headlight similar to that of the Gixxer SF 250. The headlight has a body-coloured mask and a small plastic visor occupying the space above it.

Though the cockpit of the street fighter will pack the same instrument console as the full-faired version but instead of a clip-on style handlebar, the naked model of the Gixxer SF 250 is most likely to feature a flat, single piece unit for a more upright riding position, and better city-friendly ergonomics.

The fuel tank of the motorcycle features a pair of shrouds on either side to enhance the muscular looks, while the engine cowl adds to the sporty persona of the quarter-litre motorcycle. The Gixxer 250 Street Fighter will be priced at least INR 15,000 less than the full-faired version of the bike, which is available with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.71 lakh.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 will serve as the base for Gixxer 250, the naked version of the famed quarter-litre machine. The brand has officially announced that they will be launching the model in India before the festive season.

It will help Suzuki to have two India-specific 250cc models for the premium motorcycle segment that gained momentum after the launch of products like Yamaha FZ25, KTM 390 Duke, Honda CB300R, BMW G310R, TVS Apache RR 310, and the Bajaj Dominar 400.

Suzuki recently launched the full-faired SF 250 with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.71 lakh. The first and most important part for the development of the 250cc streetfighter will be the cost. Suzuki will try its best to undercut the price of the SF 250 by at least INR 15,000 or even more.

The launch of Yamaha MT-15 shocked everyone as the price gap was negligible between R15 V3 and MT-15. However, the launch of Gixxer 250 would be a different affair as Suzuki is expected to retain the same headlight from the current-gen model and bring something close to the international-spec GSX-S150 in terms of the front headlight design.

The street machine will feature the same 249cc, single cylinder oil-cooled engine, producing 26.5 HP of maximum power and 22.6 Nm of maximum torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The loss of weight from the fairing will help the naked version with better acceleration while the impressive stance of the motorcycle through the use of 150-section rear tire will stay intact.

Like the full-faired SF 250, the Gixxer 250 will also come equipped with a dual-channel ABS unit instead of the single channel option as seen on the 150cc models. The brand will also update the 150cc Gixxer street motorcycle but, the timeframe for the introduction has not been mentioned yet.

Suzuki is staying tight-lipped for the Intruder series at present but reports once surfaced that the cruiser motorcycle will get a major update next year. With the present pricing of all Suzuki products, only the Gixxer 155 can be purchased under a price tag of INR 1 lakh. Once it receives the expected design and component update, it would be impossible to buy a Suzuki motorcycle under INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom).

Suzuki is preparing for a new product launch event and their teaser has an all-new story to narrate. The most recent teaser image confirms that it is a full-faired sports bike with an almost negligible hint for the headlight design. It is expected that Suzuki will release more teaser images in the coming days. Here are the 10 important points for the new Gixxer SF 250.

10 Quick Facts About Gixxer SF 250

1) Expected Nomenclature: Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is the most obvious name for the upcoming 250cc product, leaving some space for GSX-R250 also, as the series is popular with die-hard sportbike fans around India. If they use SF 250 nomenclature, the name for the younger version will stay Gixxer SF or else, the upgraded product could be named GSX-R150.

2) Full-Faired Sports Bike: The SF or GSX-R nameplate clears that the motorcycle will feature a faired body design. The teaser image from Suzuki also clears that the uppercut of the fairing is imaginable to some extent. The sport models from Suzuki fall under two different categories, with one being strict supersport and the other, slightly relaxed and touring-friendly options.

3) Expected Engine Specs: The 250cc, single cylinder engine is expected to feature liquid cooling, fuel injection and approx 26.5 HP of output through a 6-speed gearbox setup. The engine is also expected to be BS6-compliant. The output will place the same right next to the Honda CBR250R and thus, expectations of the segment buyers are already high.

4) Hayabusa Color Scheme: A recent report in the industry has claimed that Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 or GSX-R250 will feature Hayabusa-derived colour scheme for a premium feel. The model will be placed as an exclusive option and thus, Suzuki may not run behind huge sales number in the first phase.

5) Dual-Channel ABS: Suzuki will use a dual channel ABS unit instead of the single-channel currently available on their three 150cc motorcycle models. The same may make its way into the new 150cc product also but, chances are high that single front and rear disc combination with dual channel ABS could be exclusive to the Gixxer SF 250.

6) Advanced Digital Console: Suzuki already has the most practical console among the 150cc options and adding a little bit of more information to the same can result in a premium console for their 250cc motorcycle. The features like smartphone connectivity and lap timer could make their way into the console.

7) Upgraded Showrooms: Another report from a trusted source confirms that Suzuki is upgrading the dealerships to bring a premium feel for buyers of the new Gixxer SF 250. Not every dealership is not going through an update as those upgrading will get listed as exclusive dealers for the model.

8) Key Rivals: Suzuki is targeting both Fazer 25 from Yamaha and Honda CBR250R through their 250cc product. The former comes with oil cooling and fuel injection, clearly focusing on cost-cutting while the latter is priced much higher than an average buyer’s expectations.

9) Launch Details: The official unveil for the new Gixxer SF 250 will take place at the Buddh International Circuit on May 20, 2019. The pricing may be announced alongside the media test rides and bookings may start from the same day as the launch event.

10) Expected Price: The motorcycle is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.50 lakh (minimum possible). This will make it more attractive than the CBR and further, offer great features that Yamaha missed from their quarter-litre machine in India.
