Volkswagen Polo VRS was recently unveiled at Indonesia Motor Show. Based on Polo TSI, this typical variant offers more power and stable dynamics than the stock version. This variant is based on India spec Polo and thus, comes packed with all the fun under four meter of overall length.
Frankfurt Motor Show had a different version of Polo based on European spec model. Dark themed features used here includes black 16 inch alloy wheels, VRS badging and black spoiler. Adding the performance package, Volkswagen took overall power output from their 1.2L petrol engine to 140 HP and 230 Nm.

India spec
Polo TSI is good for 105 HP and 175 Nm. This makes Volkswagen Polo VRS good for 35 HP of more power and 55 Nm of added impressive torque. They can bring this special edition to India as buyers are preferring performance packed cars these days.
The only direct rival to Volkswagen Polo VRS is Fiat Abarth Punto, producing nothing less than 145 HP and 212 Nm. This makes Abarth Punto good for 0-100 kmph in 8.8 seconds. Volkswagen has not yet disclosed the performance figures for Polo VRS while one can expect almost similar under 10 second sprint from their affordable performer.
Indian market gets almost every possible Volkswagen Polo variant as range starts from INR 5.42 lakh for Polo Trendline and goes up to INR 19.99 lakh for Polo GTI. Their range topping model comes with 1.8L TSI engine producing 192 HP at 5400-6200 rpm and 250 Nm at 1250-5300 rpm.
Even after offering such high power,
Volkswagen claims 16.34 kmpl of mileage for their car. If brought via CBU route, Polo VRS will not get real benefits that only can be achieved through high levels of localization. If planned for India in coming months, Volkswagen may offer 7-speed DSG for their VRS variant.
