Top 10 best-selling scooters of India start with Honda Activa as the number one option, retailing a total of 2,86,380 units in July 2018. The scooter is one among three products of India (other two being Splendor and HF Deluxe) that scored six-digit sales figure in this 31-day period. The second scooter on this list is TVS Jupiter, claiming 66,632 units in July 2018 and witnessing a downfall in popularity with passing time. It comes with multiple variants and a long list of features.
Suzuki Access, a premium 125cc scooter from the Japanese manufacturer, got 36,596 units in the same period. It was closely followed by Honda Dio with 35,709 units. Hero Maestro stood fifth with 22,879 units and claimed to be the highest selling Hero scooter for July 2018. Honda rules the scooter segment with more products than any other brand while Hero has the same sort of majority in the motorcycle segment. Both these brands form the bulk of sales for two-wheelers. Yamaha Fascino is another successful product with 19,108 units for this 31-day period.
TVS Ntorq, the recently launched premium scooter, scored 18,278 units in July 2018. It was closely followed by Honda Grazia and Hero Duet with 17,147 and 16,710 units in the same period. TVS Pep+, the lightest and most affordable option of all, got 16,031 buyers. These top 10 scooters bring 5,35,470 units of sale in total, staying behind by a huge gap when compared to the 9,50,891 units total of motorcycle segment. The trends clear the air of increasing scooter popularity, which when compared in terms of numbers, seems to be a thought of imagination.
