A recent report in the automotive industry, most probably being a rumour, claims that electric Maruti cars will be retailed through the Nexa dealership network once the brand plans to enter the EV segment. The brand is planning to launch a product in 2020, most probably being the WagonR electric variant with five seat layout that will not just help regular consumers but also the taxi market. Currently, the Nexa chain of dealerships retails Ciaz, S-Cross, Baleno, and Ignis in India, with all other Maruti Suzuki products falling in the Arena network of dealerships.
The move could hurt the total cars sold from the brand as the presence of Nexa is not as strong as the Arena dealership network in the country. It is possible that the brand will retail petrol variants of all the electric Maruti cars through Arena, that too adjusting with the Nexa guidelines in the coming future.
Once the country shifts from the fossil fuel-powered network to the electric one, all brands will need to offer options like a fast charger with subscription-based deals to keep their consumers happy. Maruti Suzuki is the largest Indian manufacturer with more than 1.25 lakh cars sold in each month.
The number of electric vehicles will rise with time as accepting a new technology definitely takes time in every economy. However, the brand will enjoy the benefits from the government in the early phase that will drop for sure with time. It seems like Maruti Suzuki will shift the entire lineup to electric motors by 2025 and all this depends on the incentives offered by different areas to promote green mobility.
Nexa dealerships by Maruti offer premium car buying experience to the customer, with options like a dedicated lounge and online customization of products with accessories and add-ons being the primary driving factors.
