Tata Tigor EV Gets INR 80,000 Price Cut; New XE Variant Launched

Considering the recent cut in the GST for the electric vehicles, the prices for the Tata Tigor EV have been slashed by INR 80,000. The price tags for the Tata’s electric sedan now starts at INR 11.58 lakhs while goes all the way up to INR 11.92 lakhs for the top-spec variant.

The Tata Tigor EV can now be availed in the market in three variants namely: XE, XM and XT. If we include the Government’s FAME II subsidy, it offers a further price cut of INR 1.62 lakh on all the variants, and the prices for the electric Tigor will range between INR 9.96 lakh for the base XE variant, going all the way up to INR 10.30 lakhs for the highest-spec XT model. The prices mentioned here exclude TCS (1% tax levied on cars that cost above Rs 10 lakhs). Here is the new price list of Tata Tigor EV after the recent price cuts:

Without FAME II subsidies

  • Old Price: INR 12.35-12.71 lakh
  • New Price: INR 11.58-11.92 lakh

With FAME II subsidies

  • Old Price: INR 10.99-11.09 lakh
  • New Price: INR 9.96-10.30 lakh

Tata Tigor EV

Apart from the price cuts, the Tata Tigor EV remains all the same. Being currently available as a commercial vehicle only, the brand is also planning on launching the updated Tigor EV at the Auto Expo 2020, which will be made available to a larger chunk of audience.

The XM and XT variants of the Tata Tigor EV can be further differentiated on the basis of the level of kit offered on both the models. The XT variant of the electric sedan has been equipped with 14-inch alloy wheels as well as power-adjustable wing mirrors while these features have been given a miss on the XM variant.

Tata Tigor EV

The brand has equipped both the XT and XM variants of the Tata Tigor EV with a standard safety kit that includes ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, dual front airbags, seat belt reminders and more. The base variant XE, however, lacks these features.

Powering the Tata Tigor EV is the 16.2kWh battery, and the brand has mated the battery pack with a 72V, 3-phase AC induction motor, capable of generating maximum power of 41HP (30kW) at 4,500 rpm and 105 Nm of peak torque at 2,500 rpm. The company-claimed range of the Tigor EV stands at 142km on a single charge of the battery. The battery can charge up to 80% in just 6 hours via a standard AC socket.
