As reported by us earlier, the Yamaha MT-15 Tracer is in the making and the brand is planning to launch the entry-level adventure tourer in the coming months. The concept of the upcoming motorcycle has been brought to reality by ‘Julak Sendie Design’ with a clear cut and excellent rendering. Being inspired from the design language of the MT-09 Tracer, the MT-15 Tracer will feature a tall windscreen at the front in addition to a redesigned taller handlebar setup.
The new setup of the body panels will make way for a more comfortable touring experience in addition to improved aerodynamics when it comes to longer rides. The golden USD front forks shown in the rendering gives the motorcycle a unique look though, the brand is not expected to use the gold detailing in the production version. For the Indian market, following the footsteps of the MT-15, the Tracer variant will get standard forks at the front.
Powering the Yamaha MT-15 Tracer will be the same BS6-compliant 155cc liquid-cooled, SOHC engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 18.5HP and an utmost torque of 13.9Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch.
The MT-15 Tracer will feature disc brakes on either side while the addition of dual-channel ABS will be standard for the international variant. The tracer variant will be sharing various components with the standard MT-15 variant including the frame, swingarm, tyres, and the all-digital instrument console.
Taking the styling cues from the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer, the MT-15 Tracer will feature similar tank extensions and split seat design. Accentuating the touring concept of the motorcycle are the dual luggage boxes equipped on either side of the motorcycle.
Considering the popularity of the MT-15 naked motorcycle in the Indian market, the brand is likely to introduce the Tracer variant in India after its official unveiling in the international markets. The Tracer model of MT-15 is expected to be priced around INR 1.60 lakhs (ex-showroom).
