As per the latest details available, the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV is expected to be launched in India next year and it would be competing with the likes of Audi e-Tron and Jaguar i-Pace. Ford officially unveiled the Mustang Mach-E back in November 2019. The SUV is the American brand’s introductory long-range electric car and the only Ford SUV that will be retailed under the Mustang brand name.
It’s a valiant effort by Ford as it has transformed a classic product into a brand of its own. About the styling and performance, the brand claims that the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV is heavily inspired by the Mustang series of muscle cars.
The company has put special emphasis towards the front end as instead of a traditional grille, the American automaker preferred on providing the Mustang Mach-E with a nose that matches the SUV’s body colour. Although the brand has tried to be sagacious with the design yet the Mustang Mach-E is one of the highest-profile EV launched to date, so it is currently under the exploration process.
The Mach-E is the first vehicle to come out of Team Edison, which is Ford’s dedicated electric vehicle organisation. In terms of infotainment, the all-electric SUV is equipped with a 15.5-inch screen and a physical dial has been positioned under the screen for the controls. There is also a horizontally-placed 10.2-inch screen behind the steering wheel.
The Mustang Mach-E has been built upon a new Ford EV platform called Global Electrified 2 (GE2). The entry-level vehicle has a single motor driving the rear wheels with two options: 75kWh battery with 258HP motor and a 99kWh battery with 289HP motor. As far as the torque is concerned, both variants produce 416Nm.
The less-powerful model has a company-claimed electric range of 450km while the more-powerful model claims 595km of total range. According to the brand, the rear-wheel-drive model of the Mustang Mach-E SUV can sprint from 0-100kmph in less than 8 seconds.
The SUV is also available in a twin-motor all-wheel-drive version, which also has two options: 75kWh battery with 258HP motor and a 99kWh battery with 337HP motor. Both the AWD variants are good for 582Nm of peak torque while they can reach 100km top speed in less than 7 seconds. The less-powerful AWD model has a company-claimed electric range of 419km while the more-powerful model claims 540km of total range.
The boot space of the car stands at 402-litres, while it also has a 100-litre storage compartment at the front. Ford has also listed the Mustang Mach-E on their official US website along with the prices. Here is the variant-wise price list of the SUV:
