Ducati has launched the SuperSport and SuperSport S duo at a competitive price tag of £10,995 for the former and £12,495 for the latter. It will be available in Europe from March 2017 while it Indian launch is still way longer than the given European time line. The SuperSport family is bit relaxed when compared to the Panigale 959 series in terms of engine, design and components.
The riders who love Ducati but do not want a strict sport bike riding posture are the most effective customers to the SuperSport series. Ducati even claimed it to be a better Superbike in terms of everyday use. The engine powering the same is a 937 cc, L-Twin motor producing 109.8 BHP and 96.7 Nm of torque.
The surprising fact for the Supersport series is that 80 percent of the torque can be had at just 3,000 rpm. It shares a lot of parts with Hypermotard while the option of 3 riding modes (Sport, Touring & Urban) makes it even more effective. Safety features include standard ABS and traction control. The motorcycle weighs just 210 kg.
SuperSport S comes with additional benefits like Ducati Quick Shifter, pillion seat cover, 48 mm USD Ohlins forks and fully adjustable Ohlins monoshock. Braking is handled by 2 semi floating 320 mm discs at front with Brembo 4-piston calipers, the rear brake is a single 245mm disc. Ducati even expects the bike to outsell the Panigale series in the coming time.
