The 400cc bikes in India are limited to just seven options, that too counting three options from Bajaj and KTM that are based on the same engine displacement with different outputs. The most affordable among all is the recently-launched Benelli Imperiale 400, which is available at an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.69 lakh.
The most popular and feature-rich 400cc bike in India is the Bajaj Dominar 400, which is priced at INR 1.90 lakh. It is equipped with an all-digital console, USD forks, 2-channel ABS, and a steel frame. The motorcycle weighs 184kg and rivals Royal Enfield Classic 350 along with the Mahindra Mojo 300.
KTM RC 390 and Duke 390 are powered by a high-output 373cc engine, producing 43.5HP of maximum power. The torque value differs for both the bikes, with Duke producing 37Nm @ 7000 rpm. The pricing for both KTM models feel slightly out of place while features make Duke 390 a better buy among both the bikes.
The only adventure motorcycle on the list, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is powered by a 411cc engine, producing 32Nm of maximum torque at a much lower rpm range. It weighs a lot and can only be considered by buyers who look forward to tough adventure riding.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 is the best 400cc bike that one can buy in India. It is overpriced by almost INR 1 lakh, all thanks to the CBU route with higher than usual taxation. Ninja 400 is powered by a 399cc, twin-cylinder engine producing 49HP of maximum power. The decent wet weight further makes Ninja 400 the best sprinter that one can buy under INR 5 lakh. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom Delhi.
