According to the recent report published by Overdrive, Bajaj Auto has silently launched the updated 2017 Pulsar 220F at a price tag of INR 91,000 (ex-showroom Thane). The motorcycle actually had no update since it’s engine was changed to carburetor fed unit from fuel injection in 2010. The F moniker was even removed few years back when the non-faired version was discontinued.

On this very new version, the F moniker is back and the motorcycle now complies with BS4 emission norms also. The visual changes include the new paint scheme and Matted exhaust with darker body panels instead of brighter ones on the older version. The mechanical changes include modification on the timing chain for lesser noise, smooth power delivery and more efficiency from the motorcycle.
Pulsar 220F still makes 21.05 PS @ 8500 rpm and 19.12 Nm @ 7000 rpm. The gearbox stays 5-speed while the digital instrument console now has Blue backlit instead of the older orange one. The choke is now manual in operation while the seats are softer than before. 220F now competes against Suzuki Gixxer SF and Yamaha Fazer Fi in the price competition.
The same sort of changes are expected for all other Pulsar’s in the lineup. Those who were expecting a design makeover would actually have been disappointed because even the best looking metallic exhaust on the flagship DTS-i Pulsar is now Matt Black. The Pulsar 180 DTS-i was also recently spotted in a video with the same livery and an additional rear disc brake.
Bajaj Auto’s MD Rajiv Bajaj promised the fans last month that all the Pulsar’s will undergo 2017 year treatment, which now feels more oriented on the emission norm fulfillment. All of the Pulsar’s are expected to get an updated face by the end of this year.
