As per the recent reports, Bajaj is all set to introduce the smaller-displacement Bajaj Dominar next month. Bajaj’s MD, Mr Rajiv Bajaj ensured in a recent statement that the brand is looking out to make the Dominar more accessible to the buyers which ultimately means that we will be seeing the unveiling of the Bajaj Dominar 250 in the coming weeks.
Bajaj Dominar 400 is one of the most sought motorcycles in the Indian market that is cherished by a host of customers considering its splendid performance as well as superb styling. Despite being heavily priced at INR 1.90 lakhs, the Dominar 400 has been able to create a niche for itself, though the brand has not been able to witness much growth in the volumes. Thus, introducing a smaller displacement Bajaj Dominar 250 would be the solution to all the problems.
Indirectly confirming the immediate launch of Bajaj Dominar 250, Mr Rajiv Bajaj said in a statement to The Hindu Business Line – “art of the exercise to make it accessible to interested buyers.”
The reports suggest that the upcoming Dominar will share its underpinnings with the KTM Duke 250 though the power and torque figures of the motorcycle will be tweaked considering its underlying platform. At present, powering the Duke 250 is a 248.8cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 30HP and a peak torque of 24Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission.
If the recently leaked images of the motorcycle turn out to be the Bajaj Dominar 250, one can certainly expect the lower-displacement motorcycle to feature almost identical body parts when compared to its higher-displacement version.
The motorcycle is expected to feature the same bulkier profile with the similar USD forks at the front as well as the identical chassis though the brand is expected to offer the Bajaj Dominar 250 with a cheaper swingarm unit. In addition to this, the rear and front disc brakes are also expected to be smaller in size while the motorcycle is expected to feature thinner tyres when compared to its 400cc counterpart.
Some reports also suggest that the brand will be equipping the 250cc Dominar with similar engine equipped on the Husqvarna 250cc range which will be officially launched in the market next month, though there has been no official confirmation as of yet. Once launched in India, the Bajaj Dominar 250 is expected to get a price tag of around INR 1.50-1.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
