According to recent reports, the BS6 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is expected to be officially launched in India in the coming days while the price tag of the updated motorcycle has also been revealed online. The BS6-compliant variant of the NS160 will be available in the market at a price tag of INR 1,04,652 (ex-showroom, Delhi), getting a premium of INR 9,000 over its BS4 avatar.
Complying to the all-new BS6 emission norms which will be effective in India from April 1, 2020, the carburetted engine equipped on the BS4 Pulsar NS160 has now been replaced with a fuel-injected engine. The 160.3cc, oil-cooled, carbureted engine on the BS4 variant of the motorcycle was capable of offering maximum power of 15.5HP and a peak torque of 14.6Nm though the power and torque figures are expected to be tweaked a bit for the BS6-compliant engine. The engine will remain mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Apart from the addition of an updated engine, the BS6 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 retains all the similar cosmetic bits when compared to its BS4 counterpart. In addition to this, one can also expect the motorcycle to feature revised decals on the body panels that will further offer it a fresh outlook.
The suspension duties will continue to be handled by telescopic forks at the front while the rear will feature a similar monoshock unit. The updated motorcycle will retain the disc brakes set up at either end while remaining mated to a single-channel ABS as standard.
Once launched in India, the BS6 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 will compete in the market with the likes of Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, and Yamaha FZS V3 that have been recently updated with BS6-compliant engines.
