A recent report in the automotive industry claims that Bajaj Pulsar NS250 has entered the initial stage of its development. As Pulsar NS200 and RS200 share the 199.5cc engine with the KTM Duke 200 and RC200, the Pulsar NS250 will be based on the KTM Duke 250. The 248.8cc engine will be tuned to suit the characteristics of the 250cc Pulsar and thus, Bajaj will enter into the league of quarter-litre machines in early 2022.
As the first motorcycle to be made out of KTM technology was NS200, expecting the Pulsar NS250 to use the familiar streetfighter design language is quite natural. The buyers in the Indian market are happy to own a Pulsar NS200 at INR 1.14 lakh but the rising demand for motorcycles like Yamaha FZ25 and Suzuki Gixxer 250 has forced Bajaj Auto to consider bigger engine displacement for the Pulsar series.
In addition to this, Suzuki is also ahead in the game with the launch of the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250. It is being speculated that Bajaj Auto will most probably replace the Pulsar 220F with the upcoming Pulsar NS250.
The Bajaj Pulsar NS250 will be equipped with a BS6-compliant 1-cylinder fuel-injected liquid-cooled engine while the bike will most probably be equipped with Dominar-sourced dual-channel ABS unit. The 250cc street motorcycle is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.60 lakh.
Bajaj Pulsar series currently has 125, 150, 160, 180, 200, and 220cc engine options. In addition to the 250cc model of the Pulsar NS, the brand is also working on Pulsar RS250 sportbike, Avenger 250 cruiser motorcycle, and the Pulsar AS250 adventure motorcycle. The recent updates also suggest that the brand will be launching the BS6-compliant variants of its entire portfolio in the coming months.
