A recent report claims that top bosses at Benelli have decided to scrap the plans for the launch of TNT 135 in India. They found that few customers were happy to have TNT 135 but their price expectations for the same were unbelievable. People mostly compared it with Honda Navi, innocently missing the facts like it is equipped with USD front forks, dual disc brakes, race spec tyres and performance exhaust. Benelli TNT 135 could not be launched at such a price due to its premium components and hence, all the hard work went into vain.
Benelli TNT 135 Launch Plans Dropped | Not Coming to India
The bike looks like a freestyle monkey bike and also looks much like Navi as far as the Indian design line is concerned. The model belongs to a premium international segment. It is powered by a powerful 134.7 cc single cylinder engine which generates a maximum power of 13 HP @ 9000 rpm and produces a maximum torque of 10.8 Nm @ 7000 rpm. With a seat height of 780 mm, it has a 160 mm ground clearance. A product like that coming from an Italian brand would cost 1 lakh+ and caters to large international market already.
The concept of Indian premium bikes in the 125/135 cc segment is not yet accepted as the chunk is dominated by budget bikes and even if the motorcycle had a production plant in India, it would never be able to meet the price competition. It is a competitor to KTM Duke 200 and Kawasaki Z125 in the league that it belongs. Although Benelli has a decent fan following in India, it follows a conservative approach. Also, the fact is that you could also buy a FZ25, Pulsar NS200 and Apache RTR 200 for the same price or even less!
