The first prototypes of the upcoming 2021 BMW G310R and the G310GS have been recently spotted testing on the European shores. Even though major parts of the world are under lockdown to curb the coronavirus situation at hand, the updated motorcycle variants from the German marque have been seen testing on the roads. As one can judge from the leaked images, both the motorcycles have been imparted subtle changes while the overall design language remains the same.
The 2021 BMW G310GS features a revised all-LED headlight unit mated to LED DRLs while the beak at the front has been imparted an overall sleeker outlook. The brand has also updated the front fascia to offer the motorcycle a much sharper look when compared to the last-gen variant.
Coming to the 2021 BMW G310R, the updated model of the motorcycle has been imparted a revised all-LED headlight unit as well. In addition to this, the brand has also revised the fuel tank extensions on the next-gen variant of the entry-level motorcycle.
Since the motorcycles are expected to be compliant with BS6 emission norms for the Indian markets and Euro 5 compliant for the European countries, both the motorcycle variants are expected to feature a revised engine and exhaust system catering to the new emission standards.
At present, the 313cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine equipped on the motorcycles is BS4 compliant and capable of offering maximum power of 34HP and a peak torque of 28Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. One can expect the performance ratios to remain the same with the BS6 upgrade though there has been no official information revealed on the power and torque figures as of yet.
Certain reports also suggest that the 2021 BMW G310R and G310GS once launched in the Indian markets with a BS6-compliant engine will get a more affordable price tag when compared to their BS4 counterparts. Since the brand has decided to quit participating in the INTERMOT and EICMA events scheduled later in the year, one can expect both the motorcycles to be launched on the digital platforms.
