BMW G310R and G310GS Recalled: BMW Motorrad made its entry into the small motorcycle market segment with the G310 R and the G310 GS quite recently. But due to some minor issues that raised concerns with the safety of the bikes, the brand has announced a recall in the United States of America. The issue arose with the side stand and the frame of the bikes.
This recall affected a total of 2,376 motorcycles, and the company will notify all the owners about the issue and replace the two components free of charge if the need arises. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found out that the side stands of the bikes became damaged after repeated use, and while it does not pose an imminent safety threat right now, in the long run, there could be disastrous effects.
A damaged side stand could also lead to damage to the section of the framework which holds the side stand. BMW has promised to check the already sold motorcycles and check if they require changes. The side stand and the frame of the bikes that will show chances of damage will be replaced free of charge. The parts will be replaced by the dealers of the company. The recall will begin on August 7.
The twins from BMW Motorrad are scheduled for launch in India on 18th July and there are hopes that the company will address this issue before it launches the bikes in India. The G310 R and the G310 GS are powered by a 313cc single-cylinder engine that will produce a maximum power of 34 bhp and a maximum torque of 28.47 Nm.
The price tag of the R version of the G310 is expected to be around INR 3.00-3.20 lakh while that of the GS version is expected to be around INR 3.30-3.50 lakh (Expected on-road price).
