Brand-Wise 2-Wheeler Sales Report: Brandwise sales report is the most accurate way to understand where your favorite brand stands among rivals in the Indian industry. Hero MotoCorp is India’s leading two wheeler brand as they posted collective sales of 6,19,387 units in Jan 2018.
The figure includes both motorcycle and scooter sales during this 31 day period. HMSI (Honda) recorded impressive growth in YoY terms and posted 4,88,855 units in total sales. Both these brands form the majority of commuter specific products and thus, it won’t be wrong to say that India loves riding Hero and Honda products all the time.
TVS Motors also posted considerable growth with 2,26,992 units in sale in Jan 2018. It seems like their Jupiter magic works each month as that helps them bridge a good gap with Bajaj Auto (1,58,598 units) at the fourth position.
If Bajaj had a scooter in the lineup, they would have definitely challenged the Honda and TVS legacy in gear-less segment. Gone are the times when Royal Enfield was considered a slow seller. They were good for 76,205 units, stunning everyone with their expensive products and such big number. They may not be able to leave Bajaj behind anytime soon.
Yamaha Motor India clocked 57,553 units in January 2018. The number is great when compared to their last year’s sales report. Suzuki follows close and commands seventh position with 45,287 units. This was the last big brand as Piaggio follows next with just 5,480 units of sale in the same period. KTM sold 4,513 units of Duke & RC sport bikes in India in Jan 2018.
Mahindra willingly left the commuter market and now got just 727 units in sales. The number will fall close to Harley Davidson (207 units) when only Mojo remains on sale. Harley was the only brand to post negative sales (in comparison to January 2017) while Kawasaki and Triumph were good for 172 and 90 units respectively.
